It is time for the devs to give us an answer

We need a PvP arena. The whole community has been asking for it since almost day 1. You continue to add more content, overlooking PvP issues. We ask for something like this arena, something you could put in a dlc even and charge us crowns to buy it and people will. Why do you refuse to give us a PvP arena? It is time we get a straight answer. I'm going to post a thread every week about this until the developers address this on both my most recent PvP arena thread and eso live. We paid for this game and so we deserve answers.

Wheeler said on ESO live about a month ago that Arenas are coming. The details aren't worked out but it's going to be a full blown system, not just something to say "we have arena".

Yeah it's coming. When? Probably next year to be honest. You don't just rush these thing's.

Do you want leaderboard's?
Do you want reward's?
Do you want a cool intro like DSA/Maelstrom?

A lot of these thing's take development.

This isn't going to be some place where you jump to initiate a duel. You will most likely get ported into one side of a arena and the game will open. I personally can't wait for this because you can actually start from stealth (if you want to). Then people's build's will dictate the victor. You may go up against a whole team of heavy dk's using juggernaut, this is the type of dynamic's that are really cool in structured arena's.

ZOS already hinted that arenas will come.
Perhaps even soon with the next DLC as part of the free patch.

However, arenas will clearly show the huge class imbalances in the game.
Therefore, arenas probably will come with considerable class changes.

this will probably come later this year. He also said a more basic dueling system would show up in thieves guild. (next dlc)

they actually stated it won't be really soon because they want to work it out to something big and worth going to. but it's in the making right now but will take at least 6 more months i think

I thought they said specifically not with the next DLC, since the arena is only in early development. What we will see with the next DLC is a bunch of changes in Cyrodiil.

I'm sick of you ZoS apologists who excuse their precious company for everything. Arena should have been a thing since release. Why are we excusing developers for releasing unfinished games? I have say in its development because I bought it, games companies aren't immune to scrutiny. They are like any other business where you should expect the highest quality for your dollar. Their answers to everything are just so vague, they have no respect for the players. I could bet that we won't get a straight answer out of devs and they won't respond to these threads that aim to hold them accountable for their screw ups. Like for example in PvP why did it take them so long to fix doors? Why are inboxes and guild banks still broken? Not the whole community? No only PvPers, not PvEers.

Stop kissing the ass of people who will release new content without fixing whats broken first. No respect for their customers

well you could also say you get what you buy. the game was never market as smallscale PvP so that you want something that's not included is strange in that sense aswell. it's like buying a old beetle and demanding buildin navagation system.

But surely all MMO's are unfinished? As in they're always being fixed and adding new content.

Also, playing devils advocate, why should arenas have been in since release? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of Arenas very much, but the foundation of PVP in ESO was built around Cyrodiil warfare. Not small scale PVP.

I certainly think adding an Arena would be a great idea, and may even alleviate some of the zerging lag.

A PvP arena should have been in since release because arenas and small scale PvP are an expected thing in any online game. I'll use runescape as an example, it has small and large scale PvP. Group and solo arenas. You guys are amazing, maybe you'd also like no beef in your hamburgers or like here in australia, 5mbps download speeds across a copper network for over $100/month. Lackluster products for your money. You may be ok receiving below average goods for your money but I'm not

I was actually one of the people saying in feedback during beta that I did not think that the game was ready for release. I stand by that statement. In April 2014 the game was very different from what it is now.

They should have released the game sans vet levels, with the full champion system in, and the Cadwell's silver and gold as a "Go anywhere you like" type thing. They should have taken an extra year of development time and tested Cyrodiil even more thoroughly. But by April 2014 the game had been in development for 7 years.

And let us again play devil's advocate, the last at least year of development, they had to make sweeping changes to the systems as there was an outcry that you could not go to enemy faction lands. There was an outcry at no first person view. They had to add and change a lot before release, so things likely were not tested as thoroughly as they could have been.

But that is all hindsight. Can't change what has already been done.

Some PvPers have said they'd like it, especially lately. Not quite the same thing as "the whole community has been asking for it since almost day 1".

Personally, I dread the day that PvE class balancing and skills have to be influenced by arena whines.

The reason we got a response was becuase we ranted and requested for months. We asked for wheeler to be at that ESO live. ALL of ZOS knew why. We were not going to let it go with out a conversation.

first the blatant blanket statement . I do not enage in PvP and I have never asked for them to put in an arena system for PvP . That disproves your blanket statement .

The PvP side of the game was always advertised as being focused on large scale PvP .During the build-up prior the games launch (on PC and later on Console) they continually talked about large scale PvP . It is only relatively recent that ZOS talked about adding in arenas . Be patient , it takes time to get the structure of the system designed , to code it , and to do internal testing for bugs/exploits. Then you have to wait for the testing to be completed on the PTS .

No body here is apologizing for ZOS , just stating the reality of the situation .

I'm all for constructive criticism of ZOS. But there's a difference between that and what you're doing. It's ironic that you actually say "release new content without fixing what's broken first" seeing as a PvP arena counts as new content.

So which is it? Would you like them to focus on fixing things, or new content?

Except that this game was promoted as offering PvE and large-scale PvP.

Just because Runescape has a feature it doesn't mean that every online game has it or that this one should have it.

I actually found the post quite insightful. In no small part because he addressed the rather...inadequately phrased opening post (that's a nice way to put it,yes?).
It was riddled with pointless exaggeration and incorrect assumptions. Some of which may give the impression that ZOS has not already addressed the matter even though they already have.
That post made by @anitajoneb17_ESO simply remedied it's lacking qualities. No shame in that. The most you should do is respectfully disagree with some of her/his viewpoints, not go with a hollow label of 'defensive ZOS'.

Come now, I know you can put together something more seemly.

If I want an hamburger with beef I check the menu first to check that there are some for sale. Not every restaurant is supposed to have them. If you're not happy either be polite instead of feeling entitled, or go to another restaurant. Go play Runescape, for instance.

Just because YOU want something doesnt mean we all do.Plus,if it wasnt for ZOS we wouldnt even have the game to play.So do excuse us if we are grateful for all the work it took to get ESO out to us all,you ingrate.
And it was never meant for PvP. PvP was just added in later on.You never paid for a PvP game. Period. If you want a PvP game there are many out there to enjoy.

So ZOS organised a thread/poll to see which developer the community would like to see at ESO Live. The answer was "Wheeler" and he + ZOS were kind enough to oblige you.

If and when they do make an arena I really hope it's like Runescapes arena system.

They have a duel arena for 1v1s but had a duel tournament where you would have certain amounts of money you'll have to deposit to be participate e.g. 10k a person. You would all be placed in different areas and would fight that person allowing you to move up the bracket till you fight the last person; when you win you get all that cash!

This kind of thing would definitely provide some incentive to getting the best gear since it would allow you to earn more cash and would satisfy your desire to prove you're the best.
