CP Gear after the conversion

When the removal of vr ranks happens and all vr gear is reduced to lvl 50 what will happen to say, a piece of vr12 gear as compared to a vr16? Will the vr16 gear piece have higher stats than the vr12 piece (now renamed cp120 and cp160 gear pieces)? Should we still decon old gear sets like Aetherian/Yokudan sets that were rendered useless after the update to vr16?

From what they've said so far, yes. I've been deconning any sub-v16 trash I have.

Where did you read that anything is being changed with existing gear?
Where or how did you interpret that gear and items of VR are being reduced to level 50?

I've only seen hints that ZOS is thinking that VR requirements to equip gear may be moved to CP. But nothing that changes gear.

A little context here before this gets too out of hand…
    1. We’re still working on the system – nothing is finalized. (which is why we’re not really talking much about it yet)
    2. The intention is that once you hit 50, champion points take over. Veteran Ranks are completely removed.
    3. When Veteran Ranks are removed, we will convert any Veteran Ranks on your highest character into CP.
    4. To get a rough idea of balance - think of 10CP = 1 VR. (so 160 CP will roughly = VR16)

    Additional Details:
    • We’re planning on giving 2.5 CP for every VR level you’ve earned on your highest level character. (40 for a VR16 character)
    • When the conversion happens, any player with CP less than their old veteran rank * 10 will instead be given enough CP such that their total is VR * 10. For example: A player is VR14 with 75 CP, they will be given 65 CP (140-75) instead of 40, so that they can still equip any gear they may have.
    • We will make sure the 16 attribute picks you got from VR1 to VR16 will carry over. (current plan is an achievement that goes up in 10 CP increments until 160)

Keep in mind that none of the stuff above is 100% locked in. We're still implementing the feature - things are subject to change. It's important that everyone understands they are not suddenly going to have to have 501 CP in order to equip the top level gear. We will introduce new gear, with higher CP requirements sometime in the future, but we won't be making huge jumps. (i.e. - we won't go from 160 to 400 suddenly)

Once we finalize the system and lock in more of the details, we will discuss things in more detail and answer questions.

Ive read this....this isn't reducing anything to level 50.

VR 12 gear isn't A type, it's someone referring to a level requirement in order to equip it
Let's use light armor as an example.
Kresh fiber is VR1-VR3 with a base armor for some chests crafted around 868 at VR1 (white), 916 (green), 964 (blue), 996 (purple), 1044 (gold) with no traits.

Now I can also craft set armor at VR1 chest that is 1098 (blue) which is higher than the first example due to a trait.

    As you move up....
    Kresh Fiber - VR1-VR3
    Iron thread -VR4-VR6
    Silver weave - VR7-VR8
    Shadow spun /Void cloth - VR 9-VR14
    Ancestor Silk - VR15-VR16

Now using the above examples....the blue VR1 set armor with a trait has a def of 1098 (blue) but Voidcloth/Shadowspun VR10 armor requirement (white) is only 1092 with no trait.

My point is that each material has a level restriction but the stats all differ depending on the quality (Normal, Fine, Superior, Epic, Legendary) and the trait so as a result, the removal of VR levels and VR requirements are not lowering anything to level 50.
Even understanding a level requirement to be removed from VR and either moved to CP or to drop to level 50 isn't reducing an items stats or effectiveness.

It doesn't even reduce the items value.
There is a possibility that certain mats and qualities become of higher demand than others if CP or level 50 drives the requirement but I'm not seeing where anyone has shared ZOS removing item stats or subtracting them.

If they render all of our crafted/looted/farmed gear useless then I'll quit the game. Our current gear better translate over to lvl 50 gear.
