Do you know about TES Lore?

Like the title says, I'm wondering what the forum population of people who are and aren't familiar with TES Lore (even only what they've gained from brief encounters in other games) is.

Wondering from a view of whether most people play this game because it's another game in The Elder Scrolls series, or if it's just another MMO to you?

ESO is just another MMO to me, no backstory.
While I had dabbled in Skyrim, I am playing ESO because it involves the sword/sorcery type of environment that I enjoy. I don't care about lore, and keep in mind that ESO occurs in the distant past, so much of what people complain about being "lore breaking" are possible because we are playing in a time before some of the other ES game lore occurred.

I do enjoy the story, but I honestly could care less about "lore"... I'm not a RP'er, I'm a game player. ;)

It is the very fact that this game takes place in the past that players notice lore breaking content. The past is set, and literally written in stone. Games taking place in a later date than the previous games can easily change the story and content and it is not breaking anything because it is writing history.

I pretty much agree with this sadly, I normally dislike MMO's due to my tendancy to whittle away my money reserves on things like baby netches...

It really depends on what you want. Imperial Library is great for reading the lore but I find UESP easier for exploring deeper into subjects ☺

The lore is pretty much why I play this game.

I love experiencing the lore for myself & I love making content that explores and shares that lore with others.

as others have mentioned Imperial Library & UESP are both invaluable for understanding the world. So much work has gone into the development of this series, its amazing.

Eh, I started with Oblivion, so wasn't one of those Morrowind people that seem to be the biggest fans out. I enjoy the story and such of the older games, but had to play Morrowblivion in order to get far, as I can't stand the old graphics/animations.

I'm a long time TES player. The lore is about 80% of what keeps me playing this game.

The problem with going to any other MMO is that it won't be The Elder Scrolls.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.
