I've been playing Elder Scrolls since Oblivion and I remember a fair bit of the lore across all game since. Maybe one of you have figured it out through clues and whatever, but I need an answer:

Where the *** are the Dwemer? the most technologically advanced and (probably) strongest race of mer just vanished? literally not a single one has popped up dead or alive? What's the deal? Anyone have any theories?

You need to play Morrowind then. The Last Living Dwemer is in that game.

Even he does not know what happened to them:

Disappearance of the Dwarves: "Hmm.... I cannot say what happened. I was not there to observe. I was in an Outer Realm at the time, and when I came back, my people were gone. I left Red Mountain, wandering Tamriel for years, searching our deserted colonies, looking for a survivor or an explanation. Then, a long, long time ago, I returned to Red Mountain, still looking for answers. Instead, I found corprus disease, and I have been here ever since. I have theories, if you are interested."

However he offers up this theory:

"Lord Kagrenac, the foremost arcane philosopher and magecrafter of my era, devised tools to shape mythopoeic forces, intending to transcend the limits of Dwemer mortality. However, in reviewing his formulae, some logicians argued that side effects were unpredictable, and errors might be catastrophic. I think Kagrenac might have succeeded in granting our race eternal life, with unforeseen consequences -- such as wholesale displacement to an Outer Realm. Or he may have erred, and utterly destroyed our race."

I personally think their situation is similar to the Annunaki or something, they just got up and left... but who really knows?

This is all part of Bethesda's master plan to bring them back from the outer realms in a future elder scrolls title

Yep, and he is an essential integral part of the Main Quest, no matter what path you choose.

So you're saying the dwemer became the dunmer? But then wouldn't the dunmer have some texts or something with that info?

I had no idea! Figures I miss him by 1 game lol. That Kagrenac theory sounds cool. Hopefully we get more in a future title

Ehhhhhhh I had almost forgotten Yagrum. He answered one question I never needed answered, which was, "What if Marvel's Mojo and Ralph Bakshi's Boromir had a love child?"
