PvP Stamplars: Do you magicka dump?

I decided to spec Stamplar again for the first time since pre-1.6. My go-to magicka dump ability used to be Blazing Shield, but that ability seems to be garbage now in PvP. What do you other Stamplars use?

Use 1h and shield, use channeled focus everytime it runs out, use blazing shield and shielded assault (1h/s gapcloser)
You're pretty tanky, never run out of magicka if using drinks and also you have 5-6k shields up almost all the time, and also you can cleanse everything thrown at you. With this setup, if you know what you're doing you should be able to defeat most players.

However if you are not using 1h/s I haven't found a good magicka dump, usually only use magicka for purifying ritual but it cost so little that you waste most of your magicka pool.

I tried Blazing Shield for a minute - I'm running with about 25k health which makes my shield ~ 3750. That's not even enough to negate one Surprise Attack, let alone Wrecking Blow, etc. The Shielded Assault shield helps a little and when it does pop you get a little extra burst damage I guess. Do you feel like it's worth the time it takes to cast BS on your Stamplar?

I know it's not the best skill atm but it is all we have got, I don't think it's that usefull, but I usually retreat a few meters to cast channeled focus then blazing shield followed by shielded assault. It adds pressure to the oponent and makes you quite tanky. Also it's better than having 100% magicka all the time.
I want to point out that if you learn to be effective with this setup now, once they buff Blazing shield (which they will do pretty soon) you're gonna be unbeatable. I used to run the typical crit rush + jabs/wrecking blow glass cannon build but it's a waste since you're just a glass cannon that's a weaker version of a nightblade/stam dk. Also I got destroyed by a stamplar using this and I asked for a few tips and this is what he used.
I suggest you try it.

I have another idea that I want to try as well. It's a little bat shite crazy but it could be sick. 1h/s on the front and resto staff on the back. I'm thinking Quick Siphon + Caltrops + my normal attack rotation could be a ton of healing (in addition to Red Diamond). I could also pop Combat Prayer for more burst damage.

Ummm... We don't have one...... Purifying ritual is basically your only get out of dodge, purple incoming attacks ability. I guess mist form if you're a vamp as a "magicka dodge roll"

You get hit during normal dodge roll so at least with that you take less dmg.

What do you use for healing? I don't have vigor yet...

Just switched to Stamplar to max out my last couple skill lines and find myself a bit squishy.

Vigor is the best stamina heal atm, but I also like using Rally (2h). Breath of Life is still pretty decent even as a stamina build but it will run you out of magicka in a hurry.

Right now I am using only Purifying ritual and Elusive Mist as magicka abilities.

Cleansing/purifying Ritual are just okay as a Stamplar, but at least they give you a solid cleanse. Elusive Mist is nothing like it use to be and personally I find I can run a lot faster and longer on my Stamplar. If you're a vampire though it gives you something to slot for the 15%. The Rune is definitely nice for armor/regen, just remember to keep firing it every 8s because in Cyrodiil its rare you're standing still for longer than that. Breath of Life is just a bad idea on a Stamplar given what it costs you. I actually think you're better off with Blazing Shield, and currently that ability is terrible. For heals look to Vigor/Rally. Don't consider Red Diamond as a serious heal, it is not, but it does help you a little bit if you're a melee build.

My Stamplar uses Purifying Light, Honor The Dead and Radiant Aura.

Purifying Light is a nice added burst of damage.

Honor The Dead returns some of the cost so it's heals to manage itself.

Radiant Aura is a 30% recovery buff to all pools no reason that's not running the whole fight.

Purifying ritual is the best spell a Stamplar gets. Sorc just fired a frag at you? Cleanse it, it's gone. There are so many skills that can be negated by just using 1 purify. The rest of the Stamplar kit is pretty weak.

Backlash is dmg capped and cant crit, results in a loss of dps over just spamming jabs.

Honor the dead only heals enough in PVE, in PVP it is pathetic and a waste of time and a slot. (Wish this was a stamina HOT)

Radiant Aura doesn't stack with potions, and I am pretty sure it doesn't give you 30% regen....

Blazing Shield/Radiant are terrible, but we have almost nothing else...

Stamplar is so bad I end up using non class defensive utilities like shuffle/quick cloak. Yuk. (QC just for Major Expedition)

Our only reliable heals are Rally/Vigor which get NO bonus healing from our passives. WTF ZOS???

Binding Javelin while beautiful is EXPENSIVE and WEAK.

I could go on all day but I think most of us are aware of how limited Stamplar is at the moment.

Making it HoT would be a waste IMO since we have Vigor. And that's probably why it's going to happen at some point lol.

Stamplars summed up in a nutshell:
Useless passives that do not help with resource management
broken skills (like literally every skill is broken)
No resource management (well you got repentance but it helps *** in pvp 1v1, 10% stam rec ye but NB get that for free 15%)

Bascially, if you can do it on a templar, then you can do it better on every other class because of actually usefull passives and utility skills.

That is why I ditched my templar after 1year of maining it and I finally realized ZOS does not give a flying *** about this class because according to them we are "here to Heal" which was said from ZOS several times on ESO Live sessions.

While I completely agree with you, I don't have the time or willpower to level another character. My Templar is the character that I started the game with during early access and it's where I have all my achievement points, alliance rank, etc on so I'm committed at this point. The stamina play-style is more fun (for me) and I perform pretty well with it despite so many obvious class disadvantages.

I have a v16 stamblade that is really fun to play but at the end of the day it's just not my style for a lot of reasons. I often play PvP for several hours straight without a single death but it's just too easy and cheesy.

I'm thinking of trying vampire again and using Elusive Mist for my magicka dump. It could be cool.

I advise against it. Elusive Mist used to be worth it, but a combination of the unavoidable CC all charges have, the stealth nerf allowing people in mist to be easily targeted, and that the speed boost doesn't stack with major expedition makes it not worth all of the disadvantages that come with vamp.

I have been playing with a cheese vampire killer build for a few days, and after what I've been able to do to vamps, I can't imagine getting ever going vamp on either of my toons again until ZOS does something about all of the damage they take. With the exception of full tank heavy armor, high health, perma block builds, any vamp I target is left dead or at very low health. It is somewhat acceptable on a NB because they spend most of their time not being visible, but it is not worth it on any other class IMO.

You aren't wrong, but that escape is so valuable. Usually I just need 1-2 seconds in Mist to juke around an object. Dodge-rolling would be cool, but it's so punitive to use it often enough to be worthwhile.

ZOS needs to tone down the extreme amounts of damage vampires take for sure. But honestly with the Dark Stalker passive I spend more time in stealth than I otherwise would, so we'll see.
