Cyrodiil is completely broken. The only chance to pvp is inside of IC.
That is where you can actually fight other players. You can actually see animations, you don't have wait a full 3 seconds to know if you actually ambushed a player. In a game with combat that relies on spell rotations, it really helps when you can see what spells are being cast.

But i really enjoy what cyrodiil is, or at least, can be. If it means halving the populations of the campaigns i'm all for it. Right now it is completely broken.

I was just playing on the same server as the OP. I got so frustrated I left the game and cancelled my subscription.

It's a shame you left the campaign but I honestly don't blame you, this is just more than terrible.. words can't even describe just how bad this is :confounded: even tonight as I'm typing this, the lag is OP and needs a nerf so bad.

Watching those videos of near flawless, large scale, Cyrodiil combat is so god damn depressing. That is the game I purchased, or so I thought.

What is even more depressing is the fact that even though I hit V16 at least a month ago I'm still only learning lots of mechanics, finally hashing out my builds, and have put so much effort into getting to end-game, which for me is PvP, and the game doesn't actually work. It does not function correctly, therefore it is BROKEN. It needs a fix yesterday.

Blues scroll at Blue Road Keep owned by reds. Yellows had pushed up to Sejanus. Every single player on the server was at that keep. What happened just transcended simple lag. Things like textures and animations were a thing of the past. Then my game crashed. ESO had just gave up.

If you actually look closer you can see the main cause of the lag during that fight. It's hard to notice at first, but I think you'll see it here

Full? What is your definition of full.

Before anyone claims that large scale PvP will never work and that every game has this problem, here is some footage of early PvP.

    2. ZOS made changes to the code that ruined it.
    3. ZOS ignored PvP for a year.
    4. ZOS is unwilling to revert those changes and has resorted to bandaids (pop reductions, PFX culling, and deer killing) to try to compensate.
    5. ZOS knows what REALLY killed PvP but is treating it as a sunk cost and reverting the change (whatever it is) is not on the table.

So here we are with threads that disappear and people pretending that the lag isnt a problem...

I only joined ESO in June with console launch so you must understand what you just showed me is like a completely different game :(

ZOS view was that the skills people used changed.
This could only come about for two reasons.
    1. People unlocking very popular OP skills at the same time.
    2. Some bugged out skills became the meta that everyone adopted.

Lets humour each other and assume for just one moment ZOS have gone over the figures and are being honest.
What skills came to the forefront of PVP warfare at the time of 1.2/1.3 ?
What skills AoE were changed at the same time if any.

People have been AOE spamming since the beginning of this game. We had impulse spam before we had massive lag. It's not just the AOE unless you account for the fact that many more calculations were required when ZOS added AOE caps.

But if you think about it, the most popular class at the beginning of the game was Magicka dragonknight and that is nothing but AOE spam. Talons, obsidian shield, inhale, fire breath. Never lagged out the server.

The thing is, we cant give ZOS the benefit of the doubt. Something major happened. Now they are working on removing deer, PFX culling, AOE culling to try and squeeze some more life into the server but this game functioned fine with all of those things and plenty of deer when the game started. What caused the lag is something else. A switch of commands to serverside from clientside, the lighting patch, something major.

Cyrodiil was unplayable for me last night. Some players seem to have invested in maximum sprint speed though. They seem to be able to outrun the lag and kill everyone at will.

I believe they've been praying to Molag Bal or something, because I also noticed some players were playing as if they had lag-immunity or something. :dizzy:

Also, it looks like we're going to have to just deal with it until we get the patch in Jan, as stated in here:

Spam your DPS ability and pray to the gods that it hits something. Forget everything you know about weapon swaps, combos and CC just spam like your life depended on it.

A lot of people seem to think you're exaggerating whenever you tell them about the lag and unplayable PvP, so I recorded this last night.

I went offline after this, there's not much point. It's been like this for a straight week on PS4 now, and it's effecting us all. (Azura's Star, EU, not like that makes much of a difference) Even my friend in the video messaged me saying how laggy it is after he died. so let's hope that this current maintenance will make things smoother. (doubt it) :smirk:

    Lag is real
