I find that I am out of points for other skill lines. I do have some skills in Templar melee tree and some heals unlocked as well.

There are enough Awful skills that you can have all of the valuable ones, especially if you are a Templar.

That's the irony see.
You never really know what you should put points into until you have put points into them and regret it.
You will get enough shards eventually for about 85-90%.
So its more a case of ignoring stuff you don't think will interest you.
Give yourself some space to swing a kahjit...so to speak.

Thankfully ...every factions capital has shrines where you can respec at a cost.

After you beat the main storyline, you can go visit the other factions areas and get all the Skyshards and complete all of the their quests/delves. This gives you access to about twice as many skill points as you already had. Orsinium and other DLC also come with Skyshards and quests which add even more skill points.

figure out what you want to specialize in and look up a build that is geared for that role. Look at what skills the build uses and go from there. There are a lot of good streamers out there and hundreds of different builds for every class and sub-class. Do you want to be a stam sorc or magica nightblade? Stram Dragin Knight or magica Templar? 4 classes+2 different attack bases= 8 sub-class choices. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Pick one based on your style of play or what role you want to fill in endgame content.
That being said, you can redo your attack base, skill points, attribute points and morphs down the road if you decide you want to change later. Right now your most important choices are your race and class.

You can unlock everything. You just can't have skill points in everything all at once.

[*] Just use a weapon with the Training Trait until L50 in the weapon line and you have unlocked the morph for the last skill. Then slot another one and repeat. Do the same for your Class Skills.

[*] Wear a mix of all armors until you level each to 50

[*] Crafting just grind decons or creations until you get them to 50

[*] Level your character to 50 to get all the Racial Passives

[*] Level Mages, Fighters and Undaunted to 10 to get all those skills unlocked

[*] Steal and Fence until you level Legerdemain to 20 and you get all those unlocked

[*] Do the Main Quest to have your meeting with Molag Bal and you unlock all the Soul skills.


If I left anything out, I think you can figure out what to do.

Then, all you have to do is decide what you want for your build and put points into those skills.

It's pretty common when you're low level, it'll get better as you level up:) Try to collect all skyshards and don't forget that group challenges in public dungeons and completing group dungeons' quests gives you skillpoints too.
My main is currently maxed in all professions with most passives unlocked(no hirelings atm and no Keen Eye for half the crafts), all class passives and skills morphed, some Mages guild skills/passives, some Fighter's guild/passives, some Alliance War skills/passives, 3 weapons, 3 armor types trained(though I don't have all heavy and medium armor passives, don't need them) and I think I still have something about 20 skillpoints left. She's almost maxed out on skillpoints though, can't remember how many she has but it's A LOT

Oh and leveling up your alliance rank(PvP) also gives you a skillpoint, it's pretty easy to gain at least a few that way with first several ranks, they go by past.

Far as what you should put points in, that's up to you. Not all the skills are (equally) useful. For instance if you're running 2h you're(or you should for maximum damage at least) probably wearing medium armor and don't essentially need other armor types. Assuming you're running 2h you're relying on stamina, making most magicka based skills kinda useless, so you'd want those class skills that have stamina morphs(like Biting Jabs) and appropriate passives(might as well unlock them all later, but focus on those you actually do need for now). Also, BoL(Breath of life, first healing skill morph) is always good to have unlocked just because it's the only burst heal in the game.

Crafting can be a bit overwhelming but you can always just level it for now(deconstruct and research everything you find) without putting points in it and have a guildie/friend/random inzchat for $$$ craft stuff for you.

I didnt read every post but in case no one mentioned it there is a skyshard on top of a mountain in Cyrodiil that awards 5 skill points so dont forget to grab that one. Also you get 2 in the mage quest. M

Its not skill points but 5 Achievement Points for finding that one. It is the only single Skyshard in the game that gives an Achievement. The other skyshard achievements require you to find all the ones in a zone.
