Nobody complains about bunch of ppl attacking/deffing keeps or whatever... Hell, you can go and attack a keep with 100 ppl, but dont go then and stack upon each other like a bunch of ...., sticking from each others asses, on a 1 sqare cm of space, spaming AoE attacks/heals. Then, my friend you lag out the entire server, for everyone, and those are not regiments, just a bunch of .... who doesnt know better.

One good reason why pvp needs collision detection, both for friendlies and enemies.

well maybe just in cyrodiil and future PvP content. it would be SO damn annoying in PvE and im talking about the city's at crafting area's, banks and doors

Or make it: not in combat = no collision detection.

ye got a horrid flashback of the old days that played tibia... the trolling in that ...

to most of these forum posters, anything more than 2 people is a Zerg.

and "real PVP" is bunnyhopping around a tiny team deathmatch arena by yourself.

The problem with this is when these so-called "platoons" take out small groups of 3,2, even 1 players. A full 24 man group taking on another full group can be exciting, but not when it is horribly imbalanced (which is the case most of the time)

What really happens is the moronic 2 man group decides to try to get a gank kill on that 24 man, and then throws a fit when ... gasp.... they get destroyed trying to bite off more than they can chew.

Where do you think the term Zerg originated from in regards to large group of MMO players? Yes I know it came from Starcraft..But it was in DAOC started being used to describe a bunch of players zerging....

And for the record..in DAOC..if you ran 16 people vs 8..You weren't called a "Platoon" you were called a Zerging ***

This thread is just zergers defending zergs.

Which would be totally fine ... if the game could handle it.

    This. Totally.

However, what I don't get is the objective of the objective. Sure - it's nice for me to run around Cyro when it's blue - but other than that - keeps are ugly and pointless to visit. There's no 'ooh all the keeps = !!!' other than we can travel and crappy rewards in mail and some gold.

II only pvp ONLY pvp for skills I want and if any friends ask me to come.

Also to directly address the OP:

The whole zerg thing was something I used to vehemently oppose as a term to describe groups, because whoever is saying it, is usually implying they are superior to whoever they are talking about.

Player A: lul dat zerg so bad
Player B: ya, they cant fight without their buddies
Player A: Ya he would have never killed me le solo, lololol

Meanwhile, Player A gets destroyed by someone solo, and blames lag or ping or something.

its always a scapegoat mentality for small minded pinheads that think they are inherently better than an organized group.

The only time I call something a "zerg" is when its actually what a zerg is, a mindless blob of really bad players all smashing into a keep via brute force by sheer numbers. Most groups in Cyro nowadays are voicecommed organized raids that just happen to be near or at the group size the game offers (24). That does not make them a zerg by definition, if anything its the exact opposite of one.

    Khole/Haxus - not a zerg (8-12 is a medium group)

    GoS/Rage - not a zerg (16-20 is a large group)

    Vehemence/Victorem - not a zerg (24 is a full raid)

Daniels group/TKO/SWP - this is zerg territory (24 + 50 is multiple stacked raids, not necessarily coordinated and just has padding added to protect the core 24 man, therefore it becomes an actual zerg by definition, especially since many of their players arent even max level, and are just there for sheer numbers)

Just a few examples, though some of the above have coordinated together or worked alongside each other. I know GoS has worked with Haxus before towards common goals/objectives. It makes us look zergy I suppose, but most definitely is not what a "zerg" really would be. None of us are mindless bads throwing ourselves at you with numbers. We just happen to have quite a few taking on what probably IS an actual zerg.

Edit to add - the namedrops are just reference points of guilds that many in the PvP community are familiar with on PC NA, to give an idea of group sizes/compositions. Sometimes they might run bigger or smaller, but my examples are just what I "normally" see them running strength-wise.

    I don't disagree at all.

But its not challenging being in the zerg, and sucks being the three guys trying to defend the keep.

PvP is just not that compelling for me.

I wouldnt mind fighting enormous groups if they removed AOE caps and fixed the lag.

I don't pvp but from what I read from the forums, it seems like the issue people have with it is that the mechanics encourage just spamming and not really any tactical thinking. If there were friendly fire (and mechanics to prevent deliberate sabotage) then spamming AOE's mindlessly wouldn't be a thing anymore and zergs would have to plan, communicate, and work together more to succeed. It is a war zone, and so big groups, as you say, are expected, but at the same time, it's also expected those people know or learn how to fight and not just swing blindly in front of them.

Probably some other things that could improve it too but idk.
