Is it really necessary to play that overt gimmick? I mean the whales will offer their sweet sweet milk regardless and might actually feel less manipulated into doing so.

willymchilybily✭✭✭✭I understand the OP feels the effort put into the limited time mount by the design team is not comparable to previous mounts and so the price is less value for money, but this is a null point when you consider the graphics team will do several varient's of a theme from which one is chosen after review. 99% of the work is already done they are not selling you it at that price because of value added. its all virtual money and virtual items, and the overhead is far less than introducing the mount in the first place because texturing and animations are already done.

I can - to a certain degree - agree with Nightmare Courser going for 2500 because it's supposed to be a "unique mount".
I can understand that you'd be selling the Frozen Mare for 2500 (or was it 2000?) because it's unique and has some special features.
But a recolour? It's not even a retexture as is the case with Senche mounts! Why would you do that? I mean, I would totally buy the Snow Bear - I love those damned beasts and as a fan of TLOK, I'd love to be riding one - without hesitation if the price was reasonable. But now? Why? 700 additional crowns because it's white, not brown? (that's racist)
Do not take this thread as bashing or whatever. I'm simply questioning why would you do that? What sort of criteria makes you think that a simple recolour should be worth that much?

Not only that, but MUCH more importantly, LOYALTY goes up, as does CONSUMER CONFIDENCE.
If we want to talk "social economics" it is really pretty simple. People with way too much money and not nearly enough sense are "soon parted" from the former by those with more of the later.
Yet materialistic society has grown SO desperate for validation that all their idle wealth MEANS something that they prance around in their Emperor Robes of the Moment believing they are making some sort of statement other than "P.T. Barnum was right."

Sure you CAN sell fewer for more, but then most people hate you. That may seem like "just good business" in the short term, but so did the actions of every short-lived tyrant in human history.
Having a disgruntled, toxic community is ever worse for business when marketing a SOCIAL product like an MMO.
If you cater only to the few, eventually the majority will lose faith and move on. Then the few will get bored being milked like the P.T. Barnum whales they are since there's no one left to play with/compare pixels with, and they too leave to seek their validation elsewhere.
Overall, it is a short-sighted and ultimately self-defeating business model. Capitalist greed at it's worst.

Tamanous✭✭✭✭✭To be fair Crown points are cheaper than most games per dollar. Compare this to what other's charge for rare mounts and it's not too bad for a premium option. Normal mount costs work out to below cost of most games. Most games are about a $1 a coin but ESO is close to half that. I applaud them on that ... and the direct Canadian coin conversion too in story instead of "OMG that costs what in Canadian?".

You must not have really read what I wrote. I encouraged you to create a thread to continue supporting the prices they charge and to increase them if they want.
You say "Capitalist greed at it's worse." It's ironic you mention this because this falls in line with companies who charge excessive amounts for things because people like you don't bother to disagree with the price.
There is no catering to the few when it comes to lower prices. EVERYONE wins.
I'm not disgruntled. I thought I should mention this since you seem to think so. I enjoy the game immensely. I sub and am currently sitting on I believe 8400 crowns.
Does not mean I'll waste them. An ingame cosmetic for almost the same price of a full feature DLC. Absurd.

Just so you know, Wal-mart has been successful with that model at the expense of the quality of product and at the expense of the companies that retail through them. My company (a record label) does business with Wal-Mart. They demand cheaper prices always, which means we cut corners. Cheaper packaging, fewer tracks, no liner notes, no photos, fewer colors on the printing, lower hit song to deep catalog ratio.
In the end, what do people complain about? The cheap products, which we get blamed for, not Wal-Mart. On a thread about corporate greed, Wal_mart should hardly be held in such regard. I've been subbed since day one until the release of IC, prepurchased imperial edition and bought the DLCs, some mounts and some pets. I've done more than enough to support them (and I enjoy supporting them if I get my money's worth back). This, however, yeah, ... no.
Also, I'm a bit confused people are actually trying to find excuses for ZOS over here. It's actually pretty sad.

Because i'm playing this game so i kinda feel like I was forced to buy the DLCs, otherwise I'm out. ZOS really have a higher price of EVERYTHING than other online games. But since so many ppl finding excuses for them, they are not afraid to do it. 'So many guys buying it, why should I reduce the price?'
Also, price is one thing, discount is totally another thing. If they need to raise the price during they doing discount, then wtf is the meaning of discount? I'm not okay with that rip-off.

Umm...every other console game doesn't require maintaining a server for thousands of people to play on every day. This isn't like every other console game - it requires money for you to be able to continue playing it. If a developer/publisher closes it's doors after you've purchase their game, you can still play it all you want. If ZOS closes its doors or shuts down the servers, that's it.
Aren't the most popular console games heavily multiplayer based which rely on maintaining servers? Look at the Call of Duties, Battle Front or Destiny. Shoot, Destiny can even be considered a MMO and their money comes from disc sales and DLC sales. Seriously, what games are you use to playing? This isn't 1996 consoles. Almost everything is online and server based these days.

Sure, cosmetic digital stuff is already priced fairly arbitrarily, but this is just arbitrary on top of arbitrary.

✭✭I didnt mind paying for the Bear and the baby as well. Yeah,I thought the price of the mount was a bit up there,but what the heck.I could either grouse about it and miss out,or roll with it and have my lovely Polar Bear to ride in Orsinium,where Polar bears roam.I feel a bit bad for the baby though,and put him away when things get dangerous.He's too little for all that fighting.0 -

People are ruining the market. Wasn't it in the 60s or 70s people actually stopped buying gas because they raised it so much? That quickly made the govt and oil companies reverse course.
Why have we stopped allowing companies to just take more and more from us? That's the biggest question. Vote with your wallet/brain and not your heart.
my wallet doesn't have that big of a deal with it. ust get a job?

Its not just a recolor.The Polar bear looks longer and thinner than the brown one.Even the face is different.I dont like the brown one much myself. :}0
