Vet rank removal?

wigglesgaming26
do we have an estimated time on when the veteran ranks are going to be removed and how is it going to affect current gear in our possession?

There's a bunch of topics on this that can be found.

    But the short version is;

Vet ranks being removed sometime next year, champion points replacing them as the progression system, higher level items will be champion level based as opposed to VR level based.

i heard that they were looking into implementing it sometime in first quarter. im just more curious that if our current gear will be updated to work with the new system or will be rendered obsolete

I wish the Vet Ranks would stay, but since they're definitely getting removed (so unfortunate IMO...), Zeni said that they're getting axed sometime in 2016. :(

im glad theyre getting rid of them, leveling a new character will be much easier and faster, as long as they dont tinker with the current XP needed to hit 50

I imagine that most gear will be appropriately translated, numbers wise. But I'm sure some gear will also be rendered obsolete.

So how will this work with crafting materials exactly? Right now materials craft for various regular and VR levels, but once VR is removed, then how will crafting material levels be determined?

They said that they will scale gear/mats on CP, where 10 CP == 1 VR.

Well, they had better speed up the DLC content once they do remove them.

Otherwise there won't be any reason at all to do 2/3 of the game. And once that 2/3 is rendered pointless, this game will be severely lacking in meaningful content. The Vet Ranks is the only reason to explore Cadwell's Silver/Gold. Once those Vet Ranks are gone, what's the point to even start those except for the avid Skyshard hunter?

    Short answer: none.

It's Zeni catering to a very vocal minority of impatient players.

In case you hadn't guessed, I'm highly against the removal of the Vet Ranks.

so a v16 piece of gear would require 160cp to wear? sounds reasonable

and can cp be obtained throughout leveling from 1-50 or only once you hit 50?

It's definitely a concern but I think most sets will pull through and be fine. Particularly the monster helms and shoulders.

Thanks... but... if max CP currently is 503... that would make it equivalent to VR50, right? And right now our mats only go to VR16. So I think something is amiss in that conversion concept unless they're suddenly going to be adding tons of new mats soon.

wether those zones are a priority or not to level through theyll definitely scale the difficulty so that there is some merit to doing those zones. its much to boring to level multiple characters through all of silver and gold and much worse to grind through to max level.

in other words im hoping there is a comprimise so that we all get something we can agree on.

They have never said anything about scaling older content and I don't expect them to; I imagine it would not be an easy project to go back to existing content and make major changes.

maybe the max of useable gear will 160cp and will increase over dlc. meaning rubadite, rubedo, ruby ash and other mats will only be able to make 150-160 cp gear and so on

i dont expect it either but i do hope there is some sort of balance to it, we get a lower cap, and the cadwells silver and gold zones are still worth doing other than skyshards and skill points from various quests

Yes, but new players coming in and going through their first time, it is their last opportunity to run content OP as future content will be scaled to level. As of now my character is already VR2 and I haven't even finished the main quest yet- so I won't have to worry about a severe difficulty jump as much since I'll be able to tackle Cadwell's being a bit overleveled for each zone- which is how I prefer to play. I can see how players running through on an alt might want some increased difficulty, but for new players, I think being able to be a bit OP for zones is also a good thing.

I think it's funny, people wanted the veteran ranks removed because they were tired of playing catch up, but with the new implemented system, you still basically are going to have the same system but repackaged. You're still going to have to grind to reach end game, they've just put lipstick on a pig and you guys are buying into it. :expressionless:

    501 CP = v16

What happens when they raise the seasonal cap again? It wouldn't be any different than them raising the vr cap, but whateves.

Regardless, they're going to raise the CP cap seasonally, you're going to still have to grind, the thing that most of the people complaining about the Veteran ranks have been complaining about.

I say just keep the veteran ranks in the game as is. They're not really fixing anything, they're just repackaging. *shrugs* Just how I see it though.

At the moment, the way they're looking at the CP levels for gear is that 160 = VR16.

So basically those with higher CP will still be restricted to VR16 gear even with 500 CP? That leaves a huge hole between 160 CP and 500 CP, as far as gear is concerned.

Just makes me wonder if they had been calling Champion Points "Veteran Points" instead, if you'd still have these complaints about VR. Because, as you said, all it is is repackaging the same concept. But because some people choose to believe it is something different, they'll like it... until reality sets in.
