Yes and even when zos gave all the low CP people a bonus to get the CP's and xp faster.

I've been playing since Beta, and I can't wait for VR to be removed. Thanks to FOTM builds and class imbalances, rolling alts is a NECESSITY in ESO. Veteran Rank leveling takes FOREVER on an alt because it's so boring to do the same content over and over. I'm still bitter I didn't have a VR16 Nightblade available when IC came out... I don't want to be burned like that again.

I said most players, not all players.

Why do people feel the vet levels are bad? This is not a troll post. I'm actually really interested to know. I don't really keep up on a lot of these types of things. I mostly play solo and don't PvP, so a lot of times I miss certain aspects of the game.

The hate stems from the early days of the game. As I mentioned earlier, levelling the vet ranks was a grind since the XP needed for each rank scaled. Vet1 to 2 would be about 1 million XP with vet13 to vet14 being over 14 million.

You keep using past tense words. Are these things that ZoS improved after complaints from the community?

They did but only after the damage was done and the Champion System was being implemented at the same time. When the game launched there were 10 vet ranks. They added Craglorn in the first content patch about a month after launch, adding 2 more. When they expanded Craglorn they added another 2 vet ranks and the XP needed went up again. When they added the Champion System, they capped the vet ranks at 1 million XP each. When they launched Imperial City, they added two more vet ranks, annoying a lot of the user base because we had been expecting them to be removed since about August last year, but at the same time, reduced the XP needed to the current 850k.

Interesting. So, currently, there are a total of 16 vet ranks and it takes 850k xp to level up each rank. We also receive champion points at a certain rate (i tried to look this up, but couldn't find any hard numbers). For each vet rank we get a character point and a skill point. Gear is based on (vet) level.
I guess I don't really see whats wrong with it in its current incarnation. Is it maybe because it is deemed too powerful? with both the vet ranks AND the champion points? Do people feel that the 850k xp is still too much per vet rank? Once again, I'm not trying to troll, just to understand.

850k isn't bad compared to what it used to be. Additionally, before started moving to the Champ System and the removal of the vet ranks, attaining vet ranks didn't give you attribute points so people were levelling for no increase in power. The reason people don't like it is because it's still a grind, one most people have done multiple times already. I have 4 vet16 toons, I have another that is vet3 and two below the vet ranks I can't bring myself to level further because I don't want to do that grind again.
Wanting to avoid a TWO MONTH grind does not equal "I want it now". The week or two spent leveling 1-50 should be enough for someone who's been playing every day for well over a year.

Ok, I think I get it. It's really the level grind that people are sick of it seems? The champion point system does seem a little more open ended.
Has ZoS said anything about a hard cap on the number of CPs that you can spend (not earn)?

Yup. Currently the cap you can spend is 501 with the absolute cap at the end being 3600, at that point you won't earn anymore. The 501 cap will be adjusted as new content is added that requires the cap to move.
Wanting to avoid a TWO MONTH grind does not equal "I want it now". The week or two spent leveling 1-50 should be enough for someone who's been playing every day for well over a year.
You want to make a new character, and then in two weeks, have it max level. I believe that is exactly what he means by "I want it now." I'm not judging you, or condemning you for your opinion, but thats exactly to what the term is referring.
I personally prefer a bit of a grind, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes.
Yes it is perfectly doable.
His problem is that the vet levels are more of a 'wall' than they are content.
Also, as the cp system provides progression to quests, the cp system will continue to provide progression through all of those new zones. The difference between the Cp and the levels is that, once you do cp the first time, it is complete for all chars. We don't need levels on top of that. They create unnecessary barriers.
They're great for a nice solo story-based existence but we aren't all solo story-based players. Those who are can quest and progress their cp. Those who are not are free to do pvp etc without being frog - marched through the storyline, or, lay waste to quest areas by grinding the mobs.

Ok, so it looks like they'll probably raise the cap every so often. Right now 501. Next DLC 551. Next major patch 601. Next big DLC 701. Next medium size patch 726. ... etc ...
That's not so bad. What about the character points and skill points that you would be getting from the vet levels?
