Am fine with them adding it but this is something I never got if all of you guys are having Trouble finding a group why don't you all just exchange PSN and GT and forma Guild together so you can all form a whenever and work together that's why your never without a group until they add Text chat. Also why do you want to work with Pugs no offense but most of the time Pugs group sucks.I'll rather do a dungeon with my guild.

Can't work with a guild because i can't communicate. I have no text chat. Not looking to home screen>Search player name>type message>wait for response>Return to home screen to read it>send additional information. They should have advertised right on the front of the ps4 verson "No text chat" and i would have declined to purchase it.

We are probably well over 10,000 posts on this subject on these forums with the vast majority of those posts wanting this feature.

ZOS has ignored every single one.

If this is as game breaking for you as it is for me take my advice.

    Give up.

Plenty of awesome free MMO's out there.
You give me a chat box ZOS and I'll start giving you my money again.

Isn't their a PSN app for your Phone use that instead. Its quicker and easier. You are chosen not to find a work around for you to enjoy the game. They haven't add text chat so instead of complaining you can't find a group use a work around until you get what you need.Again Pug groups suck9/10 so I'll rather run with guildmates.

While there is a PSN app for phones and tablets, what use is that if the people you're messaging don't have access to it? You'd simply be moving the "burden" of switching to the home screen etc. to somebody else.

I've just given up asking for things like this, bought a pc copy and just got into it some more today.

PMGHZ it's so much better! No joke

    Downloaded a few addons

I can see actual damage and healing numbers

I can talk to people! Via text or voice

Certain things like research assistant make life so much easier.

No longer do I have to guess where lore books are, or sit with my phone next to me trying to find locations then guess on the map, nope just there already, same for skyshards.

But best of all? Takes me an entire day to find a capable group on console, to do dungeons, took me 5 minutes on PC, people can actually communicate their roles etc too!

Much better experience, I'm kinda gutted as I've got 6 vet characters and most research done, plus nearly 2 million gold. But it still seems worth it to me

I'm glad to know that. :) Though, going to the PC version is not an option or a wish for everyone. For example, if I were to go to the PC version, I would have to buy a brand new PC and a new copy of the game, start everything over, etc. I can't afford that. Besides, I don't like addons so much... ^^

Honestly pc specs aren't are big requirement, it's not some flashy new engine on a high performance game

Also pc's are cheap to build nowdays, I reckon for less than a console costs you could build a better pc.

I understand about starting again, I'm in the same boat, I don't really want to grind another 4 vr16 characters, or do EVERYTHING again, collecting agility/willpower sets, learning traits, storing every item possible. Hell that 2 million gold is kinda a kick in the nuts too.

But it's still worth it imo

I have to say buying parts for a gaming PC is a lot harder for someone like me who lives out in the woods and wouldn't even know how to put it together. I personally am saving for a Cyberpowerpc or a IBuyPower desktop, however I am going prebuilt for the reason above and really don't know how to pick parts besides looking at statistics at Game-Debate. So yes I'm a complete newb to desktops as I've always used laptops, the Lenovo Y410p being my current.

As soon as Sony and Microsoft make a chat interface for ESO, it will be in game.

That is where your current voice chat interface came from... and they have to OK all ZoS builds of ESO.

Mines prebuilt, I simply knew what I wanted

    Two gtx 970s msi gaming
    Msi motherboard
    I7 4790k 4.4ghz overclocked
    32gb ram
    2tb hybrid drive
    240gb SSD

About 9 fans inside it, although even when pushing on its still dead silent, all brushless motors.

Cost me 800 quid, but you could get a decent rig for half that easily, mines specced to play on 4k TVs (tested it out on a friends, waiting for my own)

    I reckon

    I5 4760? Or was it 4730? 3.5ghz

    16Gb ram
Normal hybrid (7200rpm) hard disk drive
    One gtx 970

That'll play games like ESO on ultra/max, or games like fallout 4 on high, you'll be covered for a few years, could get that pre built for around 450.

Yeah I'm looking at a GTX 960 and Intel Quad Core with hyperthreading and 16 GB memory preferably. A 1TB internal HDD would be nice, but not needed as I use external HDD's for almost everything.

Their text is already too small to read. We aren't pc gamers we don't play games 1-2 feet away from the screen to read all these text quickly. Also we console gamer lack keyboard support so typing would take us longer to type, who has time for that?

    o.O

So....how do you use in-game mail? What, with no keyboard.

Experience tells me a number of things:

    1. You can plug in any USB keyboard (or even use a bluetooth one) to a PS...and I assume an Xbox. Hell, both consoles have controller attachments for sale.

    2. Chat windows can be resizeable, and set to fade when not in use.

    3. The text size isn't an issue - even for somebody of my advancing years.

    4. Text can be sent to different tabs (channels)....set them up the way you want to.

    5. Speaking for the PS4, the predictive text function is pretty good. Really, odds are pretty good you're repeating the same texts over and over again - "DPS here for ABC", "Tank LFG", "need help" etc.

The irony here is that the PC controller support uses a console UI that has slightly larger text chat (this console UI went live with Orsinium on PC). Also, if you include that most TVs are substantially larger than most monitors then viewing distance is relative, especially if you include the console UI's larger text size.

The way I look at it as "If there's a will there's a way" We just need to give the ZOS the will to want to do it. There could be a lot of ways and settings to implement it and it could make the game very buggy at first, but over time it would be so much more worth the fact that there's more than one way to communicate.

We don't lack keyboards as console players please try plugging a usb keyboard in. They only don't mention it as a feature because PS/XBOX aren't selling them yet so why mention it's compatible if they can sell those crappy chat pads? Honestly try it out any cheap usb keyboard works and the no set up wireless ones too

    This

I'm in 4 guilds, each at 500, can't communicate with a single person , every voice channel is empty and the only time there was 2 players in it they both had music blaring out down the headset.

Find a group for the daily pledge? Just stand at the enclave and keep getting random invites to groups, 90% of them don't have headsets on so there's zero communication and they don't even have a tank or healer etc.

I can literally run through the entire game and not communicate with a single person.

When I started on pc I was able to communicate with anyone and everyone

I use the on screen keyboard.

For some situations it's more convenient to use voice chat over text like explain the boss mechanic and pvp

    (don't feed the trollolololols)

Perhaps you can provide a solution. I'm in a 450+ member guild and I like to be able to communicate directly in game with more than 24 members at a time.

So far, in all the discussions of text chat on consoles, you, sir, have made the only case I can think of for needing a "type chat' solution. Yeah.. that would be almost impossible.

However, as another player asked, how do you send emails in game? Or change your MOTD now? After all, changing the MotD, and the notification it sends out, is the only solution to communicate with that large of a number of players in a large guild on PC also. (See the latest ESO LIve and the question about guild calendars.)

Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

I play on ps4 and I run a guild (League of Assassins), and ever since long before launch, we have run a group chat over PSN that has become our text chat. It works for us, quite well in fact, and switching back and forth to check messages really isn't that difficult, double tapping the ps button instantly switches back to the last app used. I contribute a lot of our success as a guild to this and in many ways it has allowed us to become closer over the last several months. With the PS app we are able to communicate even when we're not online, which is great. So considering all of this I have to wonder, if they ever do add text chat to consoles, would my guild even use it? Something to think about.

Why does pc have text chat and additional option/support for console UI and console controller?

....and yet console isn't given pc interface or text chat options? I can plug a mouse/keyboard into my console just like a pc owner can plug an Xbox controller into his pc

Not very fair ZOS to be honest. You KNOW console owners have been screaming for text chat since release, you are taking the ***

Because you would be able to interact with other players/groups in-game. Additionally, you could view messages in real-time while doing other things so you could know that a flank is approaching while fighting another group, which is impossible to read using your currrent system unless you plan on leaving yourself competely vulnerable while you do read it.

I'm glad you have fond a workaround for the current lack of text chat but please do not try to pretend that it somehow resolves the issue for everyone, let alone yourself.
