ESO is Not Very Rewarding...

@TheBull didn't you disagree with me on the rewarding aspect in another thread? Maybe I am thinking wrong lol here is what I say they should do:

Rounds 1-7 are each associated with a certain armor slot. They remove ALL non set trash drops from the loot table so they can't drop anymore, if I wanted to farm V16 mats I would get much faster rates killing trash in orsinium or ic.

Once they setup round 1-7 to be associated with a piece of armor slot each you now have a pretty hefty loot table still in each round (trait and set).

Round 8 can be three major pieces of armor (chest helm legs) from each set with a slightly higher chance for rings and jewelry(that way it is not just jewelry).

Round 9 could be jewelry and weapons. This still creates a hefty loot table (trait, weapons, jewelry) but also makes it so you feel REWARDED when you beat 9! Not angry after you just spent 2 hours finishing the arena just to get 1 rubedite piece of gear you will decon.....

I think I know your problem. You referred to your character as a "toon". They are not cartoons, but only the fiercest of heroes. It sounds silly, but you need to forgot this toon talk and embrace your warrior. You will find what it is you are looking for

    Toons eh...

It's not a random "somewhere over the past few months" that reward vs time spent got screwy... it was literally the moment ESO went b2p that everything became a stupid grind.

I tend to agree. The solution in my mind for a lot of this is pretty straight forward:

    1. Scale up Trials and DSA and drop the new gear in v15/16 depending on difficulty.
    2. Chose between eliminating BoP gear, or drastically increasing drop rates.

    OR

    3. Implement a game wide token system with a vendor. Complete a vet dungeon? Token. Complete a trial? Token. Kill x number of players in PvP? Token. You want a shiny new piece of gear? Random/Crappy trait, 10 tokens, good trait, 25 tokens, etc.

    Bam!

    Problem solved...

They need this badly for the undaunted dailies, I have been trying for months to get neirienth shoulders.....never got a single one, but I have 29 spawn of mephala........ come on zos, get back in touch with your dwindling player base and see we would like SOMETHING that doesn't require a 40 hour work week playing ESO: Grinding Unlimited

Yeah, Gold keys can be the worst in terms of RNG. You only get one per day per toon (well i guess 2 now that silver can give shoulders), so you cant even grind them. I have been pretty lucky in shoulders for RNG (about the only place I have been lucky), but I have several guildies still trying for a kena or nerienth piece. All the can do is roll the dice twice a day and hope. Not a great system IMHO...

People, please think about this. If there's no RNG and no content treadmill then there's nothing to do. If you are the type of person to complain about WoW's endgame and the vertical progression of their raiding content AND you complain about ESO's RNG slow gearing process AND you complain there's nothing to do, then you are simply a complainer.
I'm kind of a small deal!

Want to talk about rewarding... I did vma 4 times today and all I got from the last chest was garbage armor sets that I will never use with crappy traits like reinforced and well-fitted. Talk about a huge waste of time. The leaderboards rewards are also messed up cause I didnt even get mine for last week. They really know how to make people NOT want to play their game.

Thats exacly the problem, theres players who want and willing to do VMA 40 times to get what they want, and then theres people who start to whine after 4 times. Gears/advantages always causes problems, cosmetic stuff like Housing or Mount Visuals doesnt. Gears/CPs should be short term and Housing long term goal.

People clearing something 4 times and crying is funny yes. But dont pretend 40 runs, boxes or keys is enough to get you anything you want in ESO, unless you're exceptionally lucky.

The issue with this hopeless rng, random traits and low drop rates, is that people eventually give up. After a month or more with nothing to show, after over 100 runs, you just feel it's not worth the hassle. Going to be outdated soon enough anyway. This gear treadmill is getting worse every DLC and right now just unreasonable bad and frustrating.

I dont think ESO endgame should be all about grinding gear personally. Most of us just want the gear in foreseeable future, so we can wear it while playing the game and having fun.

Lol I was just pointing the hopeless rng everyone goes through on a daily basis, not really whining. I have cleared vma more then 4 times I simply stated that out of 4 runs in 1 day which took up most of my playtime I didn't get anything for the effort I put into it. I play Tank Healer and Dps so there are many things that can be potential upgrades inside vma. I will probably never see them though since the rng is just that bad. Out of all the runs I have done and the broad spectrum of classes I play so far nothing has dropped that I would even think twice about deconstructing.

If I did it wasn't intentional with regards to arena loot. If I remember correctly i think there was somethign about builds for the arena and maybe something else. Man I'm so sick of getting belts out of there. I think I have every belt in 3 or 4 traits.

Tokens as an Alternative Currency System for continuously up-to-date end game gear would have solved this issue, especially in Trials, Dungeons, and other such areas of the game.

Fully agree with the OP. ZOS has painted themselves into a corner for which there is no escape without ticking off a segment of the player base. If the rewards for the PVE content are improved, the PVPers will nonstop rant incessantly that they should be able to acquire the same quality of reward via PVP. Vice versa if PVP rewards are improved. Then you have the militant crafters who insist that they should be able to craft gear that is equivalent in quality to what people can acquire in PVP and end game PVE. It's a no win situation for ZOS.

PVP gear is all tradeable tho, the problem most pvpers have is that pve sets aren't so they are forced to grind the horrible rng system as well if they want to try out new builds.

There are a few issues with the rewards that are available, but I am hoping that we will see an improvement in this with upcoming content. I think they'd solve some problems if they made a few things available that aren't currently, such as Gold Tempers for crafting as part of a final bosses rewards.

You cannot please 100% of the playerbase no matter what you do, so there is always going to be ticked off players. In fact, some just get ticked off for no reason!

I know you're talking specifically about RNG, but generally speaking I think most people get to this point eventually when playing an MMO. There's only so much mileage you can get out of a single MMO before you wake up to the fact that it's ultimately repetitive, non-rewarding behaviour, and you've been playing more habitually than anything else.

ANd once youre at that point you start going from MMO to MMO on a bi-monthly basis.

If you were to place this thread on any other MMO forum it would fit without flaw.

This is the case for many in any MMO. After playing for about a year or more many players go past the "Honeymoon" phase of their favorite game and start to realize the games flaws. What ESO needs is something introduced into the game that shakes up the status quo. Blizzard did this often with new races, classes or major class changes. Many complained about them, but it changed how the game played and how combat felt.

ESO needs something new. We have gone beyond Molag Bal's Dark Anchor invasion (of which the end fight was non-epic and a let down). The game needs a new focal story and villain to fight. Orsinium is fun, but there is not much of an over-arching story line in it.

ESO is rewarding for me.I dont play for the Purples,Golds,or all that. The only time I was disappointed was when I killed Molag Bal the first time.I just got a little necklace,..and the stats did NOT reflect the work it took to take him down. I would have rather gotten that set of armor.I think that should have been the reward, not have it kept for some elite achievement.
Why are they afraid to give us anything really cool for things done,I wonder.

One of the best things about wow (sorry lol) is that you virtually can play for years and never run out of stuff to do. Just collecting mounts and pets takes a lot of time, and has awesome rewards (yeah, mounts and pets lol). I cant tell you how many hours I spent soloing old dungeons and raids to transmog the perfect outfit. There is more to be done those are just a couple of examples. I found a serious lack of "side activities" in this game.
