Too easy to accidentally attack a guard

Or, learn to fight and escape from the guards. They're not that hard to escape. Obviously sorcerers and nightblades have class spells to evade, but anyone can use invisibility or immovability potions, sneak, and run. You only have to evade them for a few seconds to be able to use a door, and guards are like dogs, they can't use doorknobs.

I never said they were hard to escape. I've gotten the "escape the guards 100 times" achievement. You're right, it's not hard.

That said, I still don't want to have to deal with trying to escape the guards (and clearing my bounty) just because I accidentally mis-clicked and stole something that I didn't intend to steal, because the game stupidly doesn't provide for any kind of optional "are you sure" prompt in those certain cases. The addon simply adds functionality that should already be attached to the setting in the main menu.

My character shouldn't steal something unless I intended to steal it. I get really sick of people defending a badly designed UI, just because dealing with the repercussions isn't terribly difficult.

Personally I would much prefer more options when you -do- get on the wrong side of the law.
Persuade giving you a chance to explain how it was all just a mistake, for example. ("truly sir guard, it was all self defense, that guy threw a vicious spine attack against my poor dagger... five times..." )
Or guards not going to kill mode right away on a fleeing suspect, but getting some subduing attacks that make you wake up in the stocks for five minutes after instead... stuff like that.
But hey, I guess that's me...

I've never had any problems accidentally attacking anyone. I don't brandish my arms or spam skill in towns :P Now, accidentally stealing a shield propped up against the crafting station I was about to use, on the other hand...

i get caught stealing, now and then.

i immediately fast travel to the harborage and head for the nearest outlaw refuge.

    works a treat.

I also wish there was a setting that would prevent you from accidentally stealing something. Yes, you really can do this, and it bugs the heck out of me. My templar is an upstanding citizen, and while trying to click on an NPC, she ended up snitching some stupid piece of armor.

YES! THIS! I get so tired of attempting to talk to someone, but hit something near them instead and the whole area reacts.THIEF!!!

I use a Razer Naga Epic Chroma. My skill buttons for attacking are right by my thumb on the mouse and they are on a hair trigger.

If I was using the keyboard for attacks I could see there not being an issue. But then I couldn't move and attack at the same time. :expressionless:

Not sure about your finger slipping ; )
By I always make sure I got something like healing on my back button.
Too many times I have plunged a magic spear at npc's after a nice chat with em.
I still see the look of shock and fear on all there faces "I'm sorry! It was an accident!"
Has not happened since I rethought my build.
