We aren’t quite ready to go into details yet though - this is something that’s being actively developed. In the meantime, you can change your settings to Prevent Attacking Innocents, as other posters in this thread have suggested.
I also wish there was a setting that would prevent you from accidentally stealing something. Yes, you really can do this, and it bugs the heck out of me. My templar is an upstanding citizen, and while trying to click on an NPC, she ended up snitching some stupid piece of armor.

Please, yes! FAAR too easy to accidentally steal a drink at a writ turn in, or a sword by the Undaunted quest giver ;(

There is, in settings -> gameplay, under the auto loot settings there's a separate setting for auto looting stolen loot.ElfFromSpace wrote: »I also wish there was a setting that would prevent you from accidentally stealing something. Why use an add on if there's already a setting for it in the base game?

The game setting is for accidental attacking
The addon is for accidental stealing

Now read the whole of my post, about 4 lines above me quoting your post, can you see it? I told the other person i quoted that there is a setting to stop auto loot stealing. I was talking about the setting in the auto loot options that stops you from stealing. It's already there in settings, you don't need an add on.

I think that setting only affects stealing from containers where it shows you the stuff before you decide to take it. If a drink or a weapon is just sitting on a table, if you hit the E button hovering over it it'll just pick up the item. I have my autoloot completely turned off and it's still possible for me to accidentally steal something that isn't in a container.
