Too easy to accidentally attack a guard

I really hate that if I'm walking around town and my finger slips that I can attack guards which then results in them killing me. It is really demoralizing.

There needs to be a way to safety my attacks when I am in town if it's going to be possible to attack guards. Either that or if the guard is hit once by mistake and the person stops don't have the guards over react. Maybe have them say "watch it" or something.

Yes attacking innocent persons is an option in settings but It happened several times to me, for ex in Belkarth bank, that i slip my fingers in opening a safechest instead of speaking with banker or even a desk and even with option no autoloot stolen items I receive a bounty. Some containers you can look inside without stealing but some not.

I also wish there was a setting that would prevent you from accidentally stealing something. Yes, you really can do this, and it bugs the heck out of me. My templar is an upstanding citizen, and while trying to click on an NPC, she ended up snitching some stupid piece of armor.

    You "accidentally" attack a guard?

    Your "finger slipped"?

I don't believe you. You're just upset 'cause you can't kill them.

Hey, at least they don't count people casting rapid manouvre all around as "assisting in a criminal scums escape"... yet... ;)

But as guards go (or random stealings for that matter), either take care when you click, or turn off attacking innocents.

Hi folks! We are indeed working on a few things to help in these sort of Justice Guard situations. We aren’t quite ready to go into details yet though - this is something that’s being actively developed. In the meantime, you can change your settings to Prevent Attacking Innocents, as other posters in this thread have suggested. o:)

There is, in settings -> gameplay, under the auto loot settings there's a separate setting for auto looting stolen loot.

Why use an add on if there's already a setting for it in the base game?

As others have said you can turn it off in the settings, the only problem with this is if you get caught stealing inside a building, you can't attack the NPCs attacking you and you can't use the door to escape!

Heh... There was a guy in the bank in Rivenspire one day spamming AoE heals over and over on everyone in the room. Was getting rather annoying. So I decided to shoot the guard in the room.

I hit the guard, get a bounty, heal-spammer-guy heals me (before he realized what I did) he gets a bounty, guard kills him. Of course, the guard killed me too, but it was totally worth it. :)

Now read the whole of my post, about 4 lines above me quoting your post, can you see it? I told the other person i quoted that there is a setting to stop auto loot stealing. I was talking about the setting in the auto loot options that stops you from stealing. It's already there in settings, you don't need an add on.

I think that setting only affects stealing from containers where it shows you the stuff before you decide to take it. If a drink or a weapon is just sitting on a table, if you hit the E button hovering over it it'll just pick up the item. I have my autoloot completely turned off and it's still possible for me to accidentally steal something that isn't in a container.

Correct. The settings in the menu do nothing to prevent stealing items that are not in containers. Those things can be stolen with a single button press, and there's no menu setting that will prevent it. That's what the addon is for.

In addition, the addon can also prevent you from being able to steal things unless you are in stealth, and successfully hidden. While not 100% fool-proof, this can virtually guarantee you won't get caught stealing things (excluding pick-pocketing).

So that's the answer to "why use an addon?"

Or, learn to fight and escape from the guards. They're not that hard to escape. Obviously sorcerers and nightblades have class spells to evade, but anyone can use invisibility or immovability potions, sneak, and run. You only have to evade them for a few seconds to be able to use a door, and guards are like dogs, they can't use doorknobs.
