I've never been happier about racism.

Whilst I was playing last night, I got to Cadwell's Gold and had started the series of quests in Mournhold where you help out the Pact races. It was when I was performing the quest to help the Argonians when it happened - one of the Argonian guards said "Begone, Dark Elf" or something like that.

I was under the impression that ESO ignored your race, gender etc and just made all responses generic? The fact that just one NPC referred to my race means that surely the capability is already built in, and that it could be utilized more? One thing I miss from Skyrim was everyone being racist about me being an Elf.

I also love how some small snippets of dialouge are diffferent in wrothgar when your character is orsimer!

Really wish there was more of that all around through... NPCs taking notice of race, gender, even faction in some regions, and reacting differently depending on it. Some favorable, some not... bonus points for options to get back at the latter somehow

I've always wondered this since playing Wrothgar. With the Shatul clan, do you get to compete in the dual? They said I couldn't because I wasn't an Orc

Yes. Yes you do.

Well, kind of. You still sabotage the weapon of one of the combatants, and watch them duel and get killed, but then after that you go and fight the winner, killing them and becoming chieftain of the Shatul.

Not race related but I was delighted when someone asked who I was and I got to tell them my character's name. It was a quest in Bankorai.

There's two or three quests like that, but sadly that was all the custom interaction I'd come across up until last night.

There is a questline involving a khajiit in Wrothgar. The NPC acknowledged this one as being a fellow Khajiit.

Santie rather likes this NPC and hopes we see more of him.

There was this quest, don't remember if fighters guild or main story quest (or just a misc) where you had to prove yourself to an ancient clan of redguards (or something like that) and you had a few choices: trial by combat, something else and the blood trial. Given that I was a Redguard I got to skip the fight and whatever the other option was. I felt proud to be a Redguard haha

2nd NPC "You're not an Imperial"
3rd NPC "Wait you're not Imperial"

Decima "Can you not see that I'm an Imperial"

My Breton Sorc Ceslin...

Orc paraphrase "We conquered and took this island from the damned Bretons and renamed it Betnikh from Betony"

Ceslin "Yup, can't you see, I'm one of those damned Bretons and you expect me to help you. Know this...I'm keeping that damned thing and hoping to use it on you one day."

Those two are the most glaring.....

I'm glad there is some place in the game that recognizes your race but since I haven't...no I take that back...I may have seen a glimpse of it with my Rhiana The Bosmer...maybe.

@SemiD4rkness @MrDerrikk Alik'r is correct, but it is inside the lost city public group dungeon, the final resolution of the questline about the relics in there.
Sad thing is: you can convince the ghost that you are redguard even as a Bosmer...

I've always wondered if at the Racist College in Auridon they were friendlier to you if you were a High Elf? Or indeed, if they were less racist in any of that storyline? Due to my personal in-game beliefs I could never play an Altmer.

I really miss "Is that fur, coming out of your EARS?!"

and all the comments about being in specific factions..

I did like that some of the NPC in certain cities will comment on things that you have done in the game!

I don't know if anyone has noticed.. but if you play as an Orsimer lots of NPCs comment "Urgh! what's that smell!?" or a variation of it. I've played every single race and i have only ever heard them say this when i've been on an orc character.

It's entirely possible this is just purely coincidental, but it kinda makes sense hehe.

I know if you talk to the guy as a Bosmer he says something like "We already have enough of your kind here" or similar.

I had another...interesting quest today in the capital of Deshaan where the former Argonian slaves were hoping that I, a Dunmer, would help them avenge their slavery to that evil race...

I chose to

kill the Argonians on that one. Not because I am A Dunmer, but because the young Dark Elf girl had no idea what her parents did and didn't condone it at all. The Argonians were rage infused for what her family did to them, but how would killing her solve anything? They were blinded by fury, and were being wreckless and petty.

I really enjoyed that quest!

I did the same thing that you did with both my Breton and my Dunmer; was tempted to support the Argonians on my Dunmer but ended up following the same reasoning as you both times.

Really, the happiest way for it to end was if you could convince the Argonians that they had gotten their revenge by killing the other family members, and let them leave and continue their lives.
