The older heads will say this game is getting worse.

The newer ones will say it's awesome. There are still a lot of aspects in this game going down the drain (role responsibility and capabilities).

Been with the game for a while but I'm with the latter tho. Most of the longer ESO players will say that the game is no longer challenging, and I agree for the most part. Challenging content in this game doesn't really exist. vMA isn't challenging, it's a build specific solo dungeon (that I'm not interested in respeccing for).

If you want challenging content, you have to make challenging content for yourself. Which is why you can always find me in the group finder :).

Old head here. Game is awesome and is trending upwards towards being better.

Orsinium is definitely the best work that ZOS has done since launch. Yes, it has a very ungrouped focus, but it also works well with adhoc and small groups, and I like this about Orsinium, and ESO in general. I am not a fan of any of the solo parts of the game, main quest or MA. I think that MA should scale to two players and let people run it in pairs if they want. ZOS should just stop with the forced solo instance stuff. Cold turkey.

Imperial City, while I do not play it, is a very solid concept. I disagree about parts of the design, but there is no part of me that does not think that the core of Imperial City is interesting, and that it can be a challenging place to play. The problem with Imperial City is that they did not provide enough Cyrodiil style PVP objectives and were too punitive to the PVE players. It will never win over the purist PVE and PVP crowd, or the people who want PVP structure, which reduces the appeal immediately.

Craglorn is the weakest of the additional areas since launch, although it is my favorite from the perspective of the environment. I prefer Upper Craglorn over Wrothgar, or any other place in Tamriel that I have seen. Like with solo play, I don't think that Craglorn should be enforced group play. The exterior areas of Craglorn are basically made of groups of near sighted NPCs that swarm when provoked, which means that groups are optimal to deal with them, but a solo player can ride a horse right past most NPCs without so much as a stern glance from them.

On top of this, I have to credit ZOS for adding the dye system, guild traders, the various trials and arenas, and the PVE justice system.

The big dark cloud is B2P and the Crown Store and the decisions that must be made due to them. The long grinds for motifs and materials (that are shorter by the Crown) are that way, in part, to slow down adoption of new stuff, but also to drive people to the Crown Store. I think Wrothgar would have been better as a scaled Level 50 zone, like Craglorn but battle leveled. I think that Imperial City would have been better in the pre-B2P ESO where district objectives and keep requirements were still in place. B2P has certainly filled the ZeniMax coffers, but it has been somewhat toxic to the game design.

On the whole, though, it is still better now than it was 18 months ago.

I'll just say that I have more hope now than I did a year ago at this time when we were wondering why they had removed 6 month subs, where our content was and being met by deafening silence.

Still too silent around here, tho.

Many things have changed, some for the better, others not and I still think it's silly of a company to make their own content obsolete.

    At least we're moving now.

    Somewhere.

Everyone has posted some really good thoughts. I vote yes. Why? Well, I'm still playing since launch on the PS4 and enjoying it. The only other game I stayed with for a long time was GTA5. I also enjoy playing with the majority of players I have met in the game, have met some cool people.
