Omg the power glove! I haven't thought of that in forever!! Same with brick, duck hunt, toe jam and earl gees... memories!

I remember this game where you were like Toads that fought, and this side scrolling gun game, tip of my tongue, up to two player, your guns improved doing lime a spread fire thing... I think it started with a C...

My parent bought an Nes way back when, and then SNES and on down the road :)

hah, I was featured in Nintendo Power for being the only person to complete Super Mario Bros. 2 (at the time) who had submitted proof. I was just a lil kid, I also had received another mention for having the best total score for those who completed it.
Please tell me you did it while using one of these:

Started when I was 4 or 5 playing Marathon and Wolfenstein on my dad's old Apple Mac. My favorite game of all time was (and still might be) Pathways Into Darkness:

    Pathways_into_darkness-screenshot.png

Talk about difficult, you couldn't even use guns the first few levels or you'd never have enough ammo to complete the game in time. Seen a few of today's generation of gamers attempt a "Let's Play" series for this game on Youtube, all of them abruptly stop relatively early into the game. Probably punched their screens out in rage.

My parents bought their first game, "The Neverhood" and we all played through it so many times that I have memorised every single area and cutscene...then I had to wait until I was 16 and I got something to play Pokemon which really got me into gaming.
I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!

I remember playing Pong at my cousin's house waaay back in the very early 80's. Loved it so much I begged for a game system of my own and received an Atari for Christmas, which my father then constantly hogged!

My very first love in RPG's was a very very very very very old fantasy isometric called The Summoning. I got it when my parents bought our first computer and each of us were allowed to pick out one software we liked. I picked out the box for Software Jukebox because it looked pretty ;p. It had 4 major games on it and alot of demos and trailers: The Summoning, Bard's Tale III, Shadowlands, and Maniac Mansion were its main titles.

Took me years to figure out the puzzles and beat the game tho...I loved it to death back then, and I think that's where I became such a packrat. I'd always hoard EVERYTHING and make multiple trips from the start to the end of a major zone (until you get the portal for Otherworld spell...) Wonderfully made game for its time with a elaborate story and a fun twist at the end. They don't make games like they used to anymore.

Pokemon Leafgreen, starting a new game on my brother's cartridge and just starting anew every time I played.

Years later, I end up with 700+ hours on Emerald, 500+ on Diamond, 600+ on Platinum, 400+ on HeartGold, then I foolishly gave into the idea that Pokemon wasn't cool and stopped playing. A terrible decision. I can't get back into it now.

Played games on a 360 (including tons of time on Skyrim)

Got a computer then went to Steam and got a ton of games.

Then went to Mass Effect and got a total of at least 300 hours on PC (I probably have another 300 on console).

Started playing League of Legends a lot more.

Found ESO. Can't put that game down.

Now I'm in college, and what time I don't spend doing homework, working, or other necessities, I try to spend playing ESO.

I started playing on the Intellivision at around age 4 with a game called utopia. It was a precursor to games like populus on NES and eventually the sim city games.

My real jumping off point on gaming was with the release of the NES at age 6. I've never looked back :)

Intellivision Utopia, most likely the first ever real time strategy game. There was no AI so it was either solo, or play against another person. Complicated, detailed, and way ahead of its time. At a time when games had 1 or 2 button actions, this one had 12. Building island infrastructure, and gathering resources, watching out for hurricanes and pirate ships, loved it. I still have it and a working console (repaired myself).

For RTS fans, look it up and watch a vid, you might be amazed.

I used to have a TurboGrafx, and I can only remember one game that I had for it: Splatterhouse. I'm not sure if it's actually the only game I had for the console, or if any others just failed to make any impression on me. Either way, I downloaded it on the Wii some years ago (along with some other nostalgia games). That game is exactly how I remember it.

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

first game I owned (not played as i had played family members games) was TMNT on the NES my mum and dad rage quit at bebop and rocksteady. I eventually cleared it and the whole game the sense of achievment I got doing that at a young age has had me hooked ever since. For those unaware apparently TMNT is one if not the hardest NES game released only found that out today when I googled it to figure out my age when I got it. VMA should be a doddle then.

From the early 70's on various arcade games, nothing specific just whatever was around in whatever machine I could find.

I started playing video games on consoles in the late 70's with a Commander Console, which was basically a console with half a dozen bat and ball pong style games built in (you twisted a dial to select which game to play) that plugged into a black and white TV, then i moved on when in 1982 the Coleco Vision console was released (colour gaming yay!), I then moved on to the Sega Master System in 1986, Sega Mega Drive in 1990 with an upgrade to the Mega CD in 1993, then onto the PlayStation in 1995, that was the last console I ever bought.

I started with personal computers in the early 80's (alongside my consoles) starting with a ZX81 and a BBC Micro, then progressing to a Spectrum 128, Dragon 32, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC 464, Amstrad CPC 6128, Atari 5020stfm to 1040stfm, Amiga 500 to 500+.

Then I started on Real PC's, beginning with a very old IBM "portable" 8086 PC and working my way through 386, 486, 486 overdrive, Cyrix 6x86, Pentium, P2, then on to various AMD K chips and eventualy back to Intel with the Intel Q-core 6600 and 8300, and finally i3 and i5.

I've gamed to an extent on every one of them, from basic text based games to the latest graphics games we have now.

As some bonus info here is my all time favourite peripheral ever!
