Do multiple VR16's know some secret to leveling?

If I look at the numbers, it's mathematically impossible not to rush through content if you're VR16:
lathbury wrote: »

Well, let's do the math... 13.6 million XP needed just to make VR16 (not even counting lvl 1-50...) divided by 612 days since release =~23,000 XP a day, if ESO was available every day (which isn't the case...) If you read all of the books, listen to all the dialogue (Which isn't contingent upon your ability to digest content... one can only voice act so fast...) and collect even half of the available loot... you manage ~9500 XP/hour. If you play 2 hours/day, every day, that = 19,000 XP/day... but then you'd hafta subtract time to go to your therapist... :D
So, if you have any amount of normalcy in your life, it is not possible...

To level quickly, you don't need to real every book, pay attention to dialogue, or loot everything available to you in order to level. My most recent 1 - v16 took a bit over 35 hours of game play.

It's done by grinding mobs, using XP potions, and getting only the skill points needed. A lot of hard work and not enjoyable at all usually, but what can you do if you want to pvp with a v16 character...

Um, you know that the amount of quest XP you receive for handing in significant quests increases dramatically as you become higher level, right? On vet rank characters you can receive over 16K XP for turning in a single quest that took you less than half an hour to do (without rushing and with reading everything and listening to the dialogue), and that doesn't even include the thousands of XP you'd receive for the mob kills you got while doing that quest (a single mob kill typically earns me 455 XP, so every time you take 10 seconds to kill a group of 3 mobs while questing you're looking at about 1300XP). On a vet rank character I expect to earn a minimum of 50K each hour when I'm taking my time and paying attention to all of the dialogue etc.

Its called Grinding, ZOS loves to nerf the grinds but everytime they release new content they inadvertently create great grind spots to be nerfed in the future.

Last night I went from lvl 16 - 24 in an hour and a half so do the maths using those numbers....

When I started playing ~May 2014, very shortly thereafter there were already VR12s (max level at the time) running around. I really don't know how they did it. That was probably the first thing I noticed in this game that was an indicator of the types of people playing.. not a very good indicator IMO.

I have a Vet 16 and I am getting close to my second one. That one is a Vet 14 now. I also have a Vet 6 and a Vet 2 that I am working on. I play a lot, and I know almost every quest by heart almost. Also I had a max character on NA plus a couple of Vets before I switched to EU. I just play a lot and I no longer listen to quest dialogue that I've already heard over and over. Nor do I read books in game. If I want to read ES lore, I go to http://www.imperial-library.info/. It isn't a secret I kill things and turn in quests, and PvP. Imperial city sewers gives tons of xp as well.

I remember that I was on at early access. when I was like level 25 I seen V10s running around. of course these are those who have no life obviously,
when you hit V1 you could go to craglron and grind 4 spots where I remember those mobs and a couple tier 3 enemies would give out 64k EXP.
they respawned quickly so many people on ESO don't realize this aswell.
the higher the rank the higher the EXP we gain from zone quests, potions and or scrolls you can buy I go to cyrodiil and do daily's. easy money easy exp. but I alos remember when the vet ranks after V2 required to get like 1.2mill 1.6mill and so on and so on to rank up.

What I suggest - go through the lore with one or two characters( do every quest, read every book - it's really worth it).

After that just grind next characters - its easily achievable to get 300-400k/h w/o exp potion. 15 hours of that and you're half way through.

Mindlessly grinding from the start just ruins the game. Also, remember to level up your professions.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think that my expectation of getting 50K per hour of questing (while taking my time) is probably kind of low. It's probably closer to 75K, between a couple of major quests giving 16K each, a couple of side quests giving 2-8K each, and all of the mob kills along the way. So for me it's probably about 11 hours to gain a vet rank. So about 165 hours to get from VR1 to VR16 without grinding, and while taking my time questing.

Hmm, I'm now tempted to do an experiment in Imperial City: how long does it take me to do a complete circuit of all of the IC dailies, and how much XP do I earn in that time?

Wtf are you talking about? Im console, vet 16 (110ish CPs) and still have 2/3rd of all quests to do, Craglorn, Just started IC etc...

Rush through quests? Quests aren't even the fastest way to level. In Cyrodiil, it takes as little as 15 minutes to complete all of Cropford's repeatble quests, that's 8 in total, they typically give out 1/3rd of a vet level's needed xp to level. So in roughly 1 hour you can gain a vet level. Meaning in less than one days time you could theoretically gain vet 1 to 16.

    Your math is silly

The cadwell's silver and gold areas give a lot more xp than people think. I was at vet 13 when I finished the ebonheart gold area reapers march which caps at vet 10, just from doing the quests, trash mobs and delves. soloing craglorn is easy after that because of how many champion points you are going to be earning after your first vet 16 character. The method im referring to is a secret you'll have to figure it out for yourself. Oh 2 things, one : Before you say im using mods im on Xbox. Two im not talking about mindless grinding for champ xp, the method im going to use will get me to cap very quickly once wrothgar comes out.

For starters, some of us have been playing since beta and were capped at each time there was a level cap (which by the way, there was a significant gap between VR14 and VR16).

As for getting new multiple toons to VR16, you only have to do the Guild Quests, the Main Story Quest, and the Major Zone quests (with a smattering of getting the skyshards) to get to 50. After that it's just running dungeons and doing silver and gold (or grinding sewers).
