What's the point of listening to the same NPC blablabla +80 times? Reading the same book +80 times? And looting is done by pressing one button, no need to take a closer look as it's more or less always the same stuff.
As has been said by others, your 80+ time may be some other party members' 1st time... Be considerate of others, don't be a Richard... (Wil Wheaton's 1st rule of Gaming...)
well at least me the blogger and everyone who I have ever spoken to, read comments from, So, by your own admission, you dont read opposing viewpoints... Because I, most assuredly don't accept that meaning... So by your own admission, I am not part of everyone? You said up there ^^^^ that I was... seen documentaries about. so hardly just me.
your second point doesn't make any sense how does looting vendor trash reading books repeatedly (other than mages guild ones) and listening to the dialogue for the 100th time make these achievements I suggested any easier?

Alright.. But it's more likely that 3/4 members have done it multiple times already and just want to get the key or the helmet. So.. if you wanna do the whole immersion story reading multiple hours dungeons thing, I'd suggest you look specifically for such a group and do not try to force players who are bored already upon entering the dungeons into doing so. Because that would be a "richard" move as well, as you'd say.

Obviously, from past experience, the only ones that can "force" people into a certain playstyle are those players that pull the Richard move (ie...rush ahead) first...
So.. if you wanna do the whole "rushin" dungeons thing, I'd suggest you look specifically for such a group

you are quite clearly the exception. One exception however does not disprove my statement that there is a generally held view on what hardcore MMO gaming is and your definition isn't that. My definition is much closer to the general consensus on what casual play is, in that it adheres to logical and experiential facts...
Also... I dont believe anyone will deny that your definition involves pulling a Richard move... Not even you...
Nope I don't need to search for a rushing group, simply because the majority of the players prefer running the dungeons fast. So here we are again, with you having to search for the special need group if you wanna do the immersion thingy.
And imo, it's a *** move as well if someone slows down the 3 other members because he wants to read a book/listen to NPCs/look at the loot/enjoy the atmosphere.

Absolutely... It's a Richard move to force one's playstyle on the others in the party.... All I was saying... Be considerate, communicate, don't be a Richard...

I believe that was the point of the whole blog (it says so in the title...)That is a misquote the second time now are you intentionally misquoting me? anyway back to your point how does me pointing out your definition of hardcore MMO play is a little different to what the general consensus equate to my definition includes pulling a richard move. I have not even stated what I define a hardcore player as.

Youre right... Everything besides the bold is yours...

.
no you were saying that people should take their time and people who dont are rushins or richards.
I'm tired of those "casual" gamers who rush through pledges/group dungeons. Those that feel the need to ignore the great resources (books, dialogue, raw materials...) which ZOS provides in group dungeons need not apply...

Being a rushin IS being a Richard... Not being considerate (either way...) IS a Richard... that was my original post (which I doubt you read....) Actually being a rushin is being a Richard was my point... because rushin is inconsiderate.... Who denies that??
differs according to the general consensus?? According to whom?? The author of an op ed blog??

This again as I said you are as far as we are aware the only person ever to describe listening to dialogue and looting vendor trash as defining characteristics of hardcore MMO players.

WE??? Do you have a mouse in your pocket?? If YOU think I'm the only one (which, parenthetically, I never claimed, although tbh is something devoutly to be wished...) you really DON'T read opposing comments...
Here's the thing, if you've done each pledge 10x already, I dare you post something like this again. I bet you'll just be like everyone else who has done it 10x or more, by then people will consider you a hypocrite for having this post.

Read the reply below yours... You don't hafta take my word for it.... Besides, if you are VR16 already... there are not enough hours in the day to digest all that content even 1 time through. that means 16 X 850,000 experience points just for VR... which is conservative, considering before the IC DLC, it was 1,000,000 XP...
That is not including XP for levels 1-50...

Ummm... I've done every pledge at LEAST 10x (often being dragged by someone rushing through, disallowing hearing dialogue or looting, and I've felt this way each time... Rushin' is a Richard move...
No hypocrisy there...

Um... What do you mean? I've been playing since January (not 24/7 ofc) and I have several vr16 chars.KoshkaMurka wrote: »
