Sorry to burst your bubble but this isn't an elitist only game. If your standards are that high then why don't you just group with other elitists you happen to know?

If you're going to comment, at least try and add something constructive. This diatribe makes me feel ashamed I've quoted it.

Yeah because a post complaining about how other players arent min-maxing is SO constructive.

Pretty tired of bad healers and tanks who lack the gear to be able to mitigate or maintain a mana pool for heals. There should be a way to see what people are actually wearing to determine how viable and useful they'll be in a dungeon.

    It's a game.

I rather like not being able to compare and compete in the e-peen contest. It's a very refreshing change from other MMOs

Here's a perfect solution... If you want to know what gear the rest of the party has... Craft and GIVE each member the gear you think they should have....

Your comment totally made me think of how people who played WoW used to think. Maybe they still do but I haven't played that in a while.

If your expectations are so high, maybe just run with a guild group and/or people you know can do the job the way you want it done. Or maybe you could set up an inquisitor-- I mean interview booth for prospective groupmates before you start your dungeon.

Don't see a need for a gear check mechanic in ESO. If you want to run dungeons with perfection you should gain a set group of people to do so with, or join a good PvE guild. Joining up with pugs will always cause issues.

I will say that if something like this is added it would be interesting to see others builds and stats without having to ask for them to post everything. However I do not think it is necessary or even needed. Would put this far down on the priority list.

Its pre-made vs pugs, pugs are always going to be like that, if its so important, build your own pre-made group for dungeons.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to ask players to know the function expected of them within a group. Just ask and if you don't trust them request a screenshot.

If anything I don't blame a lack of tools to look into players but rather a lack on knowledge available within the game to guide players along the baseline for each role.

Gear check wont help... I've seen a lot of people who were struggling even though they had good purple/gold sets and copypasted meta builds. Good gear doesn't mean that this player actually knows how to play their class/role (or at least wants to learn them without blaming everyone in the team).
And speaking of healers... I do think that a good healer should support the team, after all the game doesnt require spamming 10 different heals all the time. Its simply more practical... Buffed dds will finish the boss much faster. ;) And this game includes some dps checks so sustain-based builds are not very viable for dds, especially when the second dd is not very strong. Also a lot of fights are very hard with low dps or sustain issues, for example, the engine guardian.
Imo, a healer who only heals is like a tank who only tanks the toughest mob and doesnt care about positioning, cc, buff/debuffs and other important things. Yeah, they can be decent, but things are much easier if team members are actually helping each other and care about them. ;)

Im pretty tired of healers that only stand there and spam HS or BoL(that must be fun), you are healer/support you should be using ele drain/shards when the dps needs them

I personally really dislike the generalized term "healer" for dungons and trials and the like. I like to think of it more like a "support" role. Helping the team by providing sustain through shards / blue balls / siphon spirit / ele drain / repentance / radiant aura / whatever else, providing minor sorcery, minor berserk, or even nova, warhorn, or barrier in certian situations. Doing the job of healing allies, and doing some DPS when all other things are looked after.

You know how to heal! the reason I never pug anymore is because im soo annoyed when I get in a group and I see a healer heavy attacking and casting BoL. I ask myself how is that even fun, then I look at my mana bar and cry a little on the inside

Not all healers have shards. Not all healers are Templars. Not all tanks are DKs too.

If your build requires someone else to have a specific skill or your build won't work... you have a bad build.

If someone has to be a certain class to play a role with you in a group or your build won't work... you have a bad build.

I see a lot of negativity here, but I personally saw how successful gear checks were when I used to PUG in WoW raids back when I played. I believe there are stepping stones that you have to actually access before doing something incrementally more complex/ difficult. There are no I.Q. tests pre-raid or dungeon, so looking at an achievement or someone's gear is the only way to increase the potential completion rate in efficient manner.

None of this guarantees a smooth ride, but it's apparent to me in this game that there are a lot of players that really don't care about someone else's experience. Just today we had someone whom of which claimed he could heal, but could not. Stop kidding yourselves here.

This would encourage too much elitism, I'm not for that.

It's not gonna make a difference if you use LFG tool. There's a high chance you'll get 3 VR1-5's with crap gear. As somebody noted in another thread, they might be amazing. I wouldn't risk wasting 2 hours of your time and recommend asking in guild or zone chat.

If someone in zone asks for an experienced healer in zone and I know the dungeon well, I'll put a +1. Knowing what they specifically asked for, I would never ask for an invite if the daily was ICP.

YES! Most nights I tank, by buddy heals, and 1 or 2 dps from our guild come along. We know that if we need to fill a spot then we might have to explain fights. We don't mind wiping to help them learn the mechanics. We do our best to carry them if need be, especially if they are being really nice and trying. But there is no way I can help a magicka nighblade in heavy armor suffering from stage 32 vampirism, wielding a 2hand hammer weaving heavy attacks, and glyphing stamina because they want to balance their stats.

We just can't. The math doesn't add up. And no matter how cool the build sounds, because we have ran across a few pretty creative ones, the math just isn't there. And I have to consider the other 2 people in my party that want to have an enjoyable evening or are really needing the keys for gear.

I know people want to play how they want, but they need to be more considerate of others when joining a group. Even if it's pugging you should try to be a positive to the party. If you completely don't care and pug into a group, you are rude. Far more rude than the people wanting a gear check. They are considering two other peoples enjoyment for the night, you are considering only your own.

We ran with a sorcerer one night who assured us he was in good light gear, but found out an hour later he was mostly in a mix of level 40 green gear. He hadn't upgraded because he was saving clothing linings. How am I to tell that when they are wearing a pumpkin costume? And if drill someone over gear when they say once that its good, isn't that the elitism everyone wants to stay away from?

I would rather be able to take someone's word but you don't know who is on the other side of the connection. Gear check systems are more trustworthy honestly.

By joining random group you choose to play with random ppl. Deal with it or make your own group, as was already said.

Not everybody has to be 100% effective to complete a dungeon. By joining a random group you also choose to accept a possibility you'll have to carry somebody. If you don't, don't join random groups.

So in your opinion healers and tanks should just spam 1 button while dds would have to be able to self heal, sustain resources and mitigate incoming damage as well as dealing 20k+ dps?

Pretty tired of kicking healers in full heavy armor because that's how Templars look on the preview and kicking tanks with no sword and board from the grp because they are roleplaying a nord that is apparently so mighty that he doesn't need a taunt to tank.

Its not about being a part of the 'elite', it's more about having common sense. If you tell your irl friends that you can read- hopefully they wouldn't think that you are a superhuman. But for some reason people on the forums seem to think That a healer using spear shards to aid dd's sustain is just so elite that it has to be made fun of.
