Spear weapon

It's the 2nd Era of the story line of elderscrolls, I understand that there is this "Aedric Spear" thing, but do you have any plans to create spear as weapon? even if it requires crowns to have it? :) It would be much fun to have one.

    An enemy is being added with Orsinium that throws normal spears so maybe that could happen.

    I was actually thinking on how this can screw crafting trait research up, but since spears would probably belong to Woodworking, which is the fastest one to level (vs Blacksmithing, vs Clothing), I have nothing against having 1 more tree. Maybe this will put an end to complaints on no diversity on Stamina builds (lol).

    Spear actually will be a stamina build item because of it's functions. Best played with Shield or two-handed. This would make and addition to the selection of the weapon, the skills. I think Bethesda / Zenimax has a plan on doing this, not at all at the same time to give a challenge and excitement for us players. (y)

    There ARE spears in the game already, in weapon racks on a few ships. So the model exists already. Last time I've seen some was just yesterday during a quest in Auridon, and I wondered about the same thing, again.

    Spears are too OP. thats why they are very rare in games. Ranged melee ... to much work for the devs to make em balanced i suppose.
    requires time to get em in game and make em work properly, and time is money ... so, no spears.

    Just playing devils advocate, they could be comparable to the 2h weapon skill line with similar skills. Our just another 2h weapon choice.

    There ARE spears in the game already, in weapon racks on a few ships. So the model exists already. Last time I've seen some was just yesterday during a quest in Auridon, and I wondered about the same thing, again.
    There are also the guards by the Skywatch fighters guild, practicing with spears.
    And the rebels in Cheydinhal carry racked javelins on their backs...
    So we shall all remain hopeful!

    My half septim worth of thoughts for the matter...

    There really ought to be more weapons.
    Both weapons added to existing linbes for more options, and more skill lines.
    Things I for one would like to see:

    More options added to bow (maybe renaming that one "marksman"), maybe with a bit of stat difference - say, have crossbows with more armor penetration, but a "reload" time making for a lower rate of fire... or javelins with less range, but more damage, perhaps also doing lightning effects instead of poison (don't you want to feel like zeus throwing one of those? ;) ), or mayne slings with less initial damage, but bigger effect damage, and make that one fire too... (representing firing clay stones with fire-enchantment inside or something of the sort - magical explosive ammo!)

    More options added to destruction and restoration magic... only having staves blows, I want more. I always hope for some sort of "spell focus" that would be one item held with the left hand, while making mystic gestures to cast your magic with the right, those objects could be (depending onracial style) holy symbols, ornage spellbooks, gemmed skulls, shaman rattles, medidation crystals, mystic scrolls, gemmed scepters, eldritch amulets, glowing artifacts, et cetera.

    A "Polearm" skill line for weapons like pikes, halberds, glaives, tridents, naginata, monks spades, ranseur, poleaxes, etc.; half the animations could just be copied from the templars aedric spear skill line, just stamina-powered and done with a weapon instead... come on, who hasn't seen the "Red Viper" fight the "Mountain" on game of thrones and didn't think "Hey, I want a character like that..."

    A "one-handed and magic" style skill line, mixing elementally-charged melee attacks and magical mid-range and AoE attacks. Offhand could be a wand, or runestone, or something like that...
    (perhaps even allow those offhands to be dual-wielded for proper destruction magic skill line, alternating the elemental type cast between them...)

    A "brawling" skill line, that does much less damage then "proper weapons", but excels in CCs. A leg sweep for a knockdown here, a dirt throw for a blind there, a kick below the belt for a stun (bonus points if the stun lasts double on male opponents... ;) )


    Maaayyybe even some "subduing weapons" for some skill lines, stuff that does lower damage, and does not kill but does a "knockout" stun & knockdown at reaching, say, 20% health... but will not count as murder attempt in the eyes of the guard... bare-fisted brawling, cudgels, billy clubs, the good old leather sap filled with sand... you know, just for barroom brawls and to knock out the guy who caught you pickpocketing without adding murder to your charges... that sort of thing...

    About the marksman you're right. There are many types of long range weapons in Morrowind, i won't be quoting all but good example is what they've showed in the movie of ESO. The Covenant Assasin who has the ability to throw daggers. It's pretty cool to make it a weapon to be associated with the skill per se. :)

    They're right about it, but it's cool also if they'll implement the freedom of having one hand spell while the other hand is using a weapon. I really believe it's only the beginning of ESO. :)

    MORE POWER to TESO. This is the most awaited game of all Elder Scrolls Fan :)

    They could just simply make them on the same range as other melee weapon on the game. Besides, as long as a spear is, in this game it doesn't matter much to make it as OP as you think it is. Do you see people who use Aedric spear not getting damages at all on PvP fights? no? then spear is not OP. This is not a game like Dark Souls where melee weapons difference in range does matter.
