Glad they are doing some upgrades, but boy did I pick the wrong week to take off and spend some quality time with my games
Which is another reason, besides good business and PR practice, that they should inform the player base that we can expect a10 hr maintenance on Tuesday.... And if they are going to change hardware tomorrow... How long will everything be down for that? Is so curious to me that MMO companies always treat their customers with such disdain while pushing for more money to be spent on their pixel items and DLC. Informing us is basically a display of good manners and professional conduct.

Up to 6 hours expected, there's your good manners and professional conduct.

I remember Sage saying in a video about how they can't just add more hardware and the lag will be magically fixed.
Looks like that isn't the case anymore.

Yeah, like changing two fried motherboards and one keyboard.MisterBigglesworth wrote: »Just a heads-up (for those of you who missed it)

And yet I haven't seen any more blue screen crashes on PS4 in a good while... Yep, such failure.
Because that may have been true at the time. There may have been issues in the software that were the root cause. Yes, upgrading the hardware is an option, but it wouldn't fix the issue solely until software bottlenecks were resolved first. Once the bottlenecks were cleared out, other issues may have shown that, yep, while X was a major performance bottleneck, now that that's fixed, it turns out Y is equally as bad.I remember Sage saying in a video about how they can't just add more hardware and the lag will be magically fixed.

Agreed, hasn't happened in months, unfortunately people forget all the stuff that actually gets fixed, and just focus on the negstives.
Like someone said in another thread, there wasn't lag when the gsme launched, and ZOS introduced it somehow due to monitoring software because there were hundreds of people hacking the game and cheating in cyrodil.
So now zos gets flamed for lag, but if these people hadn't been running rampant with cheats they wouldn't have had to try and prevent it.
http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-gb/news/post/2015/10/27/creating-eso-orsiniumWe also pulled back the fog, which is commonly found in the distance of larger zones, so you're now able to see more of the area. This was in large part due to newly added technology that allowed us to show more trees, mountains, and environment structures than ever before.
In short, we are upgrading our hardware and fixing bugs that could potentially cause unplanned outages, and want to do this before Orsinium is published next week to ensure a smooth launch.

That's right. This isn't just your ordinary, run-of-the-mill maintenance.
Let's hope this fixes the lag.
No pressure or anything...
