✭✭✭✭✭I agree. Faction loyalty has been horrible since launch in this game. But a lot of players hate that idea.
It's too late to change now however. This is one of those things that would have to be like that from the start and you'd just have to tell players tough when they want it different (some things are better for the game even if some players hate them). Plus, there are some that don't really pvp and just want to pve everywhere with friends, so you'd have to have a solution for those guys (something like the cross faction group finder, but better). And you'd have to at least offer faction changes in the store on top of all that.-- @xaraan --

What is being discussed here concerns exclusivly Cyrodill. As the "experience" is the same for all factions it renders your argument largely irrelevant.
The faction lock need not interfere with folk's icky pve wishes.
But it would effect PVE players as well last I checked Cyrodill and IC had PVE Elements to it as well. and guess what you aren't going to stop spies with this idea doing this isn't going to make someone who isn't "loyal" to his/her faction suddenly loyal. The game is B2P and you'll have people buy the game a couple of times just to accomplish what they are already doing on one account it solves nothing and potentially harms the PVE side of the game which is where most players are.
I play an Orc she's AD why because I like the AD and therefore I guess "loyal to the AD" butthe truth I just like the storyline better than the others especially when first starting out although the EP is a close second for me. The first few zones of the DC didn't do it for me.
Faction locking would have to be done from the start of character creation and that would harm the game. It would harm the experimental element of the game that I enjoyed.

Personally I think it should be 1 faction per account. The game has been out long enough now to create any race in any faction although again, it offers some uniqueness if certain races can only play for certain factions. It'd provide a sense of something to fight for. Personally I am DC only.

Spies aren't even remotely why this issue is being brought up. In fact, spies are healthy to a degree. The issue is the population imbalances.
People leaving campaigns because they are totally dominated, while more of the faction dominating joins said campaign. Then once the population is so out of whack, the dominating force has nobody to fight, so they guest to another just to get a little action.
It's sickening, and to make matters worse, when the bored dominating force from said server goes looking for a fight it usually imbalances the guest server. And it's self perpetuating.
You can observe these imbalances in the first few days of reset. DC will populate one, EP another and AD on another. It's like they are avoiding each other. Locking campaigns and factions and offering something in the crown store would largely prevent this, or at least lessen it.Here since Beta.

Speely✭✭✭✭All the folks bashing the OP or calling this trolling: This mindset USED to be the norm in MMORPGS. Dark Age of Camelot was erroneously referenced as a 1 account, 1 faction game, but THAT game had seperate servers and one account could only be one faction per-server. And you know what it did? It created realm pride and dedicated guilds/players with next-to-no fickle, FOTM, "join the winners" mindsets.
I put new MMORPG players in the same group as young MOBA or FPS players. They only care about individual performance and achievement. They care nothing for "realm pride" or solidarity. They just complain when they don't think the game is accurately reflecting the level of awesomeness with which they view their own "skills." There is basically zero consideration given the community aspect of the medium beyond how much community exists for them to dominate in "balanced" PvP with their min/maxed (totally unique) builds.
