[Concept] ESO PvE Nightmare/Heroic Mode

    The IC dungeons were probably challenging to the 1% when they came out, but I'm also quite sure that by now you guys have them on farm.
    I don't understand why the 1% are against nerfing them so others have a chance at completing them.

    As far as I see it, those dungeons were nightmare mode to start with and are slowly going down to veteran mode.

    Another challenge could be no deaths allowed and complete under certain time as well as difficulty increase. Sizeable amount of gold would be nice to get for completing it. Maybe 5k or so, and for other award options for completes is a better RNG % for gear set items, maybe even double the RNG. All loot (trash items etc) are blue quality and higher so we can decon for mats and such. Another cool name for this run (not that nightmare is a bad name for it) "shegoraths challenge" or "shegoraths playground" cause you now how that twisted guy loves making things interesting.

    When you do Nightmare, you want more I suppose. I think they should stick to the original plan, normal is for everyone and vet is the challenging. Not to mention if they do Nightmare difficult, theres going to be casuals who whine it down. Stick to the original plan!

    Like I mentioned, that is going to cause problems (like it currently does) because 1 party will want the other party to be nerfed there is only 1% of players able to beat the hard content and then the other players will complain because the jump from normal to vet is far too high right now

    It reminds me a bit of Hardcore characters in Diablo 2 (oh, my poor level 84 Necromancer). :wink:

    I think the concept is solid. But. In my opinion, the gear dropped from Nightmare should be the same as in Veteran. The incentives for Nightmare should be vanity related. Chance to get a new mount skin, new model on old piece of gear etc. This way, there's no need to nerf it, as the more casual players can acquire the exact same gear on the lower difficulty.

    Star Wars the Old Republic did it well. I only played for a few months from the beginning, but our small guild cleared the first two raids (operations) as server first on Hard Mode and Nightmare. The unique "mount" was incentive enough to keep us going, though we did it for the challenge, not the vehicle.

    I suggested Legendary Items because currently there is 0 drops for Legendary Items unless it is from a weekly (competitive content) and Nightmare Mode is being all about competitive content for extremely hard gameplay, so I think 3 hours for a dungeon competition to get a Legendary Reinforced Shock Master Shoulder is worth it :sunglasses:

    Would be nice to have a consistent source of gold tempers from end-game PvE content, that's true.

    I love this idea. You know, I wouldn't even care about a reward. All I'd need as motivation would be leaderboards for the Nightmare versions. I'd want it to be difficult enough that all the current builds wouldn't cope, we'd all need to rethink strategy and not be glass cannon DDs. It would be so much fun.

    ZOS wouldn't even need to maintain it much, just fix bugs that would be common for all versions. Then if people cry for nerfs on Nightmare mode they can simply say "No, go do Veteran". Especially if there's no loot discrepancy, people won't cry out as much if there's nothing to gain but the honour of leaderboard placement.

    Players need and want different level of difficulty. I agree with @Niftyg2 .
    Its clear that just smaller part of player base wants hard core content but those guys are flagship of any MMO.
    Always just couple percent of players do hardcore but they are promotion and other players look up to them even though they will never reach that level of skill . Its completely rational that more skill, more time and more dedication should be rewarded- That reward for rpr's is vanity and for warriors is gear.
    Guys - u see that every studio including ZOS is trying to please paying customers. Fact that i dont want to role play never made me to ask ZOS to move away lot for fight unnecessary ingame details. And that exactly is what u do when u say to Nifty - why u need it , go naked and similar egocentric trips.
    Face it - there will always be guys like Nifty and there will always be guys like u. U will never be Nifty and he probably doesnt want to be u. U dont need to act as managers to alocate resources having in mind that if Nifty is pleased u will not be.
    Get grip over reallity - taking down nifty's demands it will not be better - u will find yourself in game wihtout nifty in very sorrow game u dont want to play .

    I Prefer Heroic Mode, more in theme with Normal, Veteran, Heroic. Sound better than Normal, Veteran, Nightmare to me :smile: and between you and me as we well know, we need it!!!

    I Agree completely with this idea, i would love it and would make a great compromise too make most happy
    if they made it so the items were just legendary and maybe a title there is no reason atall for people too ask for it to be nerfed as there wouldnt be any gear that wouldnt drop in veteran.

    i really hope they take a serious look at this idea!

    Great elaboration on this. Legendary gear with the same drop percentage would be fair. Or in the case of the new dungeons, it could provide 2x the shackles, embers, and gold keys. The hard mode boards for Trials are already so sparsely populated that re-engineering that process would almost certainly be a no go for the devs. If they were willing to add a Nightmare/Heroic mode to Trials, then why wouldn't they just address the loot issues already in the older 3 trials?

    Dungeon wise this wouldn't be too ridiculous to code I would imagine. If you simply stuck to more HP, dmg, resistances, etc.. I'd love getting a new title, pet, or costume item.

    I also agree with one of the other posters mentioning that the rewards would have to be carefully delved out so it didn't become the new progression to strive towards. It would need to be an optional yet not necessarily coveted place to climb to.

    It would however open up mounds of theorycrafting opportunities catering specifically to nightmare/heroic mode that could ultimately translate in to new metas for trials.

    I do like the name of Heroic Mode, maybe a Lore friendly name if I can think of one I might change it, Nightmare is just the cliche' name

    I like it Nifty, tune veteran to completed by most players but offer a bit of a challenge so all players can obtain max level gear then drop mostly cosmetics, along side the standard gear drops, in Nightmare mode for those of us who want the more serious progression. It could give unique titles for completing the various difficulties (Dragonstar Arena Champion/Boethias Scythe) and have a chance to drop rare mounts or items that give your weapons a unique visual effect.

    @Nifty2g - FFXIV actually does this with trials, not dungeons though.

    They have a third tier of difficulty for trials called "Savage" mode. The developers described it as being close to how the trial was initially during development before they refined it to better suit most end game players.

    If some reward are cosmetic or something. I've been wanting Caldwells "pot/helmet". It goes with the idea of nightmare mode too. Because Caldwell is a crazy character and you would have to be a little crazy to run the content B)

    *Edit: Vanquisher (Or Qahnaarin, which means Vanquisher in TES Dragonic) Mode also sounds cool. Exact definition of the word fits the mode pretty well too.

    Well it can either be lore friendly or fit with the current theme of 'Normal' and 'Veteran', which inclines me towards Heroic. Also, I'm a fan of Halo, so Heroic/Legendary panders to me.

    I like the idea of something like Daedric Mode too and would approve of Normal/Veteran being renamed to fit lore friendly names instead.
