They could certainly do this.

Then everyone would keep their gold in their bank.

Then they would have to add a feature to use banked gold for your purchases as well as to avoid the extra "get your gold from the bank" step when buying something that would really annoy players to prevent that vexation.

And in the final rechoning, it would not change all that much... so why bother in the first place?
