hey all.

i'm planning on buying a new pc in the hope for better frame rates in pvp on higher settings.

the parts im planning to buy are:

Asus maximum ranger vii (mobo)
intel i7 4790 (4ghz) going to be overcloked to 4.4
gtx 980 ti 6gb
16gig ram ddr3 1866
and an ssd 250+- gb

i was wondering if any pvper with a similar build could tell me what kind of fps they get when in cyro (max settings)

From what I seen from alot rigs, due to whatever the hell Zenimax did in the last update, youll be getting as low as 15 fps during high mass zergs, no matter what you have or do. May wanna wait to ask this question when they fix the problem.

I ordered one from Xidax and it's a lot more powerful than the one you're building. I get 10 fps in Cyrodiil zergs and heavy trash mobs even. That PC is more than capable of handling this game, it's just that ZoS isn't capable with their own equipment.

Xidax, never heard of them before. Curious...hmm

My friend, this game does not require such an intensive video card, or even that much ram. The real issue is that the game is currently poorly optimized to use such hardware. It's akin to buying a bugatii veyron engine (your hardware) and placing it in the body of a Semi Truck (eso software), expecting it to reach a top speed of 253 mph still. If you are to get the aforementioned hardware, it would be to play other games at decent settings.

well atm my gtx 770 is getting 25-35fps is big zerg battles with everything on max except shadows/water reflect and sunrays with view distance on 40.

so what your saying is that it wont make any diffrence ?

Why not go with the newer 6700K Intel chip? For about 60$ more than the 4790K, you'd get current tech that can be overclocked.

Not saying this would improve anything for ESO, but long term it would be better as it is a newer generation of CPU.

Not significantly no. By all means build the new system for use with other programs/games, but I would not do it for the sake of ESO. Let me direct you to this thread and you'll see what I mean. forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/221698/fps-issues-even-with-a-gtx-970#latest

If I may, and as @Ravalox suggested, you may get a longer life span and more bang for your buck by going with an 6700K rather than a 4790K. The price difference is only $40 (using pcpartpicker.com here), in addition to the cpu supporting DDR 4, which requires a lower voltage. And as some OC sites have shown, the pairing of the skylake cpu with DDR 4 ram seems to work quite well in regards to the ease of overclocking a DDR 4 ram stick.

Did any of you with high end gaming rigs, or anyone with very low FPS drops, try the SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0" in UserSettings.txt? (It defaults to "-1", for the record). Ever since I tried that change I've had far better FPS than previously in Cyrodiil, even when rolled over by ~40 man Zergs, and I have an i5 4460 3,4 and 8GB 1.600 DDR3... But I also use an old AMD 4850 GPU. ESO is the only PC game I play, so until an eventual support for DX12 I figure it's ok since I for the time being mostly do PvP, and that more or less requires medium settings, no grass etc, with reservation for the very good and very fast and advanced rigs some may have.

Multicore and multithreading doesn't seem to be a favourite with the game engine, atm at least. It seems to mostly utilise 1 core, and seemingly works better when multithreading is set to 0.

    Ymmv.

    Edit* Correct CPU model.

well i could go with a 6700k but for some reason the site that im assembling on shows the i6700 but all the mobos suport a 1150 socket while 6700 is 1151 and doesnt support 1866 ram (im using a webshop to pick the part and let it assemble by them since i have 2 left hands)

so i guess i'l have to search some more :p

Remember, ESO working on Havok who scaling performers to CPU, but ESO use only 2x cores for graphic. So you don't need more cores then 4. If you have poor CPU and Motherboard your GPU will be bored and on Cyrodill zerging he will take a coma.

For GPU minimum 2GB ram for good performance.

Remember, addons can hard slow your CPU, not all but they can.
