DW better for Magicka Sorcerers?

Well as the tittle say.

i haven't play the game in months even before the imperial DLC.

i use a staff with ligh armor "the classic glass canon", but now some people say to me to start using a DW swords or even a Two Handed Sword to improve my DPS, they say that is better than the staff.

i normally use the fast "heavy attack" between spells, my friend told me to use a melees weapon, is that a real tip? or just a bad joke?

why is a DW or 2H swords better than a staff for a magicka Sorcerer?

Thanks for the time, dont be so rude with my English is not my best.

They make spells do more damage as well as give you more to your base spell damage stat than a staff. What's generally recommended is a staff on one bar for the "weaving" and the other bar with those weapons, OR throw out weaving entirely in favor of straight damage and using dual weapons/Two-handed on your main DPS bar as well.

Tamriel Unlimited was a mistake. One Tamriel was a bigger mistake

Noo destro sorc is the best sorc in every context (unless maybe youre doing overload dps).

And the reason youre being told dusl wield is because dual wield weapons give the most spell damage.

so do you recomend me to use a DW or a Two handed sword to my secondary bar to do the executioner spells like Mage Wrath?

    my first bar is:

    (DPS bar)
Force Push, Crystal Frag, Mage Wrath, VCurse, Bolt scape.

    Second bar is:
Power Surge, Ward(dont remenber the name), Bolt Scape, heal, Mage Wrath.

i use force puch to make the Crystal frags Procs, if i change to DW or 2H i cant use the Force push so it will by more hard to proc Cristal Frags.

so i think i could use this mechanic to improve the damage of Mage Wrath as a finisher

    what do yo think?

I dont claim to be an expert on this, but you will likely want a staff for range/weaving and DW or 2H for skills (AoE/executes/buffs) that you dont weave. If you are melee, you can weave with DW/2H so you might not even need a staff.

In terms of the 2H/DW there is some debate as to which is better. DW seems to buff your raw spell damage better, but 2H does more raw tooltip damage on certain things. (note: you need to put points into certain passives for each weapon tree) The general rule is that once you hit 40K magic, 2H will trump DW. Below 40K it seems more skill specific. My Templar sits at 41K magic, and I do more DPS with a 2H than DW (both are more than destro staff).

2 handed swords provide the most spell and weapon damage.
Dual wield on Magicka builds is for unexperienced and outdated people, who missed all the recent changes to dual wield.
Dual wield is still worlds better than staves, but 2 handed swords (swords only) are twice as good.

It all depends on your base damage potential. My current base damage potential for pvp is 8489
You get your base damage potential this way:
    Max Magicka Pool : 10 = x
    Spell damage= y

    y+x= Base damage potential.

At one point, 2 handed swords become better than dual wield. And I think, this point is reached when your damage potential is over 2000. I would need to check my sources again here, but it's about right.
