[PS4] What keyboard do you use?

I've just been using the onscreen keyboard & PS4 controller and while it works, it takes me 8.7 minutes to respond "OK" when someone messages me.

So I've been looking around in the brick stores & I haven't seen a PS4 keyboard for sale.

Hmmmmm, this sux. Everyone else in game can send me entire paragraphs in 1.7 seconds, but these fleshy gnarled extremities I've got barely let me tap out "OK" in 27.8 minutes.

Bur I'm not going to accept this. How is it possible? Let's use some detective skills...... and the internet.

Google PS4 keyboard. Hmmmmm, what's this? Oh well now this is cool. It fits right into the controller. This must be how everyone is typing in game.

So I look for the Sony brand of it, and it turns out that Sony does not make those types of keyboard peripherals. Sony says just plug your usb or Bluetooth keyboard in and go. So I grab my pc keyboard, plug it in and TADA it works.

The problem is that it is corded and it's a big honking Logitech G15 keyboard on little table next to my chair.

So I'm asking for some advice from the PS4 community on what you use as a keyboard.

If I could use a keyboard for text chat like I could in ffxiv, I'd plug in my PC USB keyboard and use it when I need to communicate via text ( in town trading, zone chat, etc). It's not really a big honking extra device as you put it and not sure why so many are against it... It works perfectly fine on console and I've been doing it for years. Just set it aside when you're not using it.

i used a tiny bluetooth keyboard in FFIV, wasnt a hastle in the slightest. lightweight, easy-to-use, perfect connectivity, and great battery life

Wouldn't the PS app on your mobile do the job? That's what I use for my XBox. Don't have enough friends on PS4 to have tried the app yet, but I would guess it's about the same.

I have a really crappy keyboard plugged in that I bought off amazon for £4.50 purely for PS4 messages... having to constantly use messages to communicate with groups too large for voice chat to be feasible made it a necessity

do as above said use a usb keyboard that's also why I like xbox because of the smart glass on our phone we can use that to type instead which is nice for those who don't have a usb keyboard. maybe psn has the same equivalent of the app?

I use a cheap usb keyboard most of the time for typing messages, works perfectly too.

I would always use that. Especially in an MMO where changing the screen could end up in getting back to look at your dead toon.

Does anyone use that keyboard peripheral that fits in the PS4 controller?

If so, what do you think of it?
Is there one with keys that light for use in the dark?
What brand do you have?

The app is a good suggestion for quick replying but I don't think it would work to initiate a conversation.
