Issue is some players got ESO+ to farm CP, they've bought EXP Scrolls to farm CP. It's a hard sell to trade a permanent bonus that affects gameplay for something that is likely to only be cosmetic or temporary.
I also heard someone mention they backed away from this idea. Too many rumours and not enough direct communication from ZOSUltimaJoe777 wrote: »Oh yeah almost forgot I'm pretty sure I heard Zenimax state they will work on a non-CP campaign or few for future release. Slipped my mind lol so hang in there everyone!
Simply way would be to apply cp only to the characters that earned them and not account wide no need for a new non vet server it may even encourage new players to stay ....
We would not see players with stupidly high cp watching streamers and dumping cp points into fotm builds and running around claiming to be the best telling others to L2 play
Some will say i quit but they would quit anyway over something else and we would probably see more rejoin if ZOS addressed Cp properly
Easiest way but ZOS dont do easy they knee jerk band aid
There was another solution written above by someone else instead of just wiping everything to zero. People with more than 360 points would have their points dropped to 360, then the rest goes into the CP currency you can use to buy items with. So you're not losing all those points you worked for - you're still getting them back in some form.OrphanHelgen wrote: »Im one of the most loyal players, and can honsetly say that if I lose my 510 normal well earned cp, im quitting for good.
There is another and way better solution than yours, and that is to make the cp stats and passive useless, but fun, like mounts, costumes and some housing decoration. Basicly everything that have nothing to do with the end game gamebreaking character stats for pvp and pve leaderboards.

It'd be nice to have a duel without someone asking me first, "Yo dawg. How many CPs u got?". I understand not everyone cares, but there's a pretty big majority that do and how game breaking it can be.
A simple solution is if you just want a clean fun duel with someone to have them and you take off all their CPs and redistribute them later if they so desire. Long as both players seek the same thing neither should want to cheat by not removing their points. Only costs 3k to redistribute so not a big deal plus a bit of a gold sink.

I believe that any player that grinds ( I don't care how no life you went to go for it ) they should be entitled to some big rewards. I'm not saying that anyone with over 400 CP no life grinded it unless you play'd console with a fresh start but nevertheless these are my opinions regarding your idea.
Easier solution. Mitigate the effects of the CP system for PvP by 80% or simply remove it entirely from PvP.
Then expand the skill and alliance war ranks to expand PvP progression.
I like the CP system (disclaimer: have about 190 CP right now), but as an element of PvE progression.
It was the first thing I thought when they first mentioned it. It was absolutely ridiculous from the start.I don't even care what they do or don't do, but something really needs to be done to fix this problem.
Who would have thought that this system was going to turn into literally one of the worst things for the game's long term life and health?

It should be removed completely along with VR levels. Anyone who does not like it can leave.
Combat should have skill involved, after all is that not how the game was designed? Why have red warnings if you dont have to move out of them?
Once you can simply stand in every red area, solo MB, and never have to even think about any kind of encounter, where is the fun? (By the way, MB can currently be solod by these 2k+ CP players lol)
These two systems are just dumb. You do not need to break the game to have progression - whoever convinced ZOS it was necessarry should run for president of the usa because you are one hell of a talker.
There have been a lot of threads regarding what people think should be done to the CP system. Catch-up mechanics, possible bandaid fixes, high CP hardcaps.
But IMHO, there's only one way to fix it once and for all; reset and rebuild.
Before you start throwing fruit at me (and most likely harder objects), hear me out. It's broken. There's nothing ZOS or anyone can do to fix it at this stage - it's too late. Mechanisms should have been put in place in the very beginning, but there wasn't.
You'd be losing your points with my idea, and it's unfair because it's not our fault, I understand. I'd be losing points too, but I'd much prefer a more balanced endgame than what we have at the moment. Imagine a forum where people don't complain about this subject any more? Yeah, I think it'd be worth it.
If you actually care about this game you'll keep reading my idea. If not, thank you for your time so far and feel free to comment how much you hate me for even suggesting this.
- Reset points to zero
- Hard cap points at 360
- The points you lost in the reset can be spent at a Champion vendor to buy special items such as polymorphs, motifs, tri stat food/pots and other rare items.
We've officially cleaned the slate, reimbursed people for their CPs (somewhat) and fixed the champion system. Now, some additional things need to happen once we're back to square one
- Earning CPs should be easy no matter what you're doing. CPs should be acquired just as fast in PVP as it does grinding monsters all day.
- Once you've reached the 360 hard cap (congrats!), your CPs are turned into a Champion currency instead (uh, CP coins or something?)
- The Champion vendor has a conversion service, to convert your CP coins into other currencies. For example, 1 CP = X amount of TV stones. This gives you the ability to do more with your CPs and adds more goals once you've hit that cap.
I know you guys are going to cringe at the idea of a reset - I do too, but I'm not happy with something so broken in the game I enjoy, and I'd be willing to sacrifice some virtual points for a balanced game. I believe there's no need for more than 360 points, and ensures people place their points strategically.
Let's fix it, and do it right this time.
Peace.
