Regarding feedback, in case many pages over multiple topics doesn't make it clear, this change is anti-player for absolutely no rational reason. It was not asked for. It doesn't impact combat or character stats. In fact, it has absolutely no impact whatsoever outside of a player's account-level achievements. So what if the previous system allowed 2 characters on the same account to complete the fishing achievements. Who cares?! It's not like you can get the account-level dye colors twice!
Exactly. Thank you for this very well put post!

The only thing this change accomplishes is making the trophy achievements so much harder to obtain that only people who have a LOT of time on their hands and an arguably foolish determination to endlessly hunt on a single character will ever get them, and I don't see how that enhances the majority of player's experience. It was very nice as a player to be able to work towards some of these achievements while enjoying playing with different characters, doing more than just trophy hunting. It was nice when if you happened to come across one you needed for another character you could pass it off to them - it was a pleasant surprise, now it just makes you feel bitter. How exactly does this do anything good for the game?

I think this overstates the possibility of ever completing these collectible achievements with the status quo. These achievements are effectively broken. There is a high probability non-vet characters will out-level some monster without getting a drop, and as soon as that happens, the chance of the achievement may be gone for all practical purposes. Between level restrictions, uneven drop rates, and wildly varied monster populations and locations, it's not likely ANYONE, no matter how dedicated or hard-core they grind, will ever be able to get all the monster collectibles. This set of achievements is broken.

To any Benevolent Deity that can hear me:
I explore Nirn as a scholar of all I find. Sadly, I lack packspace to hold every intriguing item I gather and study.
Thus, I have a team of subordinates (read: other characters on the same account), who assist me by archiving these precious items.
The changes to fishing and monster trophies, making them bound to one character, make it effectively impossible for me to fish while retaining my material specimens for future study. In particular, I have not enough space in my pack to hold aquaria for all the different species of fish I find!

I have cancelled my subscription to ESO plus now, because of my profound distress at this state of affairs.
The political squabbles in Cyrodiil and endless egofests therein will pass with the millenia: But whom shall record the fauna and flora of our lands, if not we?

To put this in context: My computer is so old and far below the minimum specs that I usually manage to play less than 5 minutes before crashing- yet I have been persevering despite this!
Not being able to keep the fish and monster trophies I gather has upset me many fold moreso than such trivial technical considerations. I play for the Lore immersion, and this change has needlessly diminished the Lore immersiveness of my gaming experience.

I hope someone with a kindly ear and power to act, can hear me!
    Sincerely,

Well, I finished fishing in all zones... these are my only major RNG achievements left. I really hope trophy transfers come back so I can play on my alts again. I have no desire to play on them now because otherwise that's time wasted. I mainly created them so I had one alt on each alliance for trophy hunting. I got them all the way up to VR1, too.

    I disagreee with OP.

Here is a list of the monster trophies, the fact i dont have to bank them to keep them on me until i get a full set on a character to activate is great.

and the fact most of these are in IC and surrounding VR areas makes it pretty easy to get if i want to try and get them. Really dont understnad why OP was upset but this topic is a month old maybe views have changed.

Clearly you don't understand how they worked before the patch. You never had to do the part of your post that I've put in bold. You would get a collectible on a character, transfer it to the character you were going for the achievement on through the bank, use it, and it would get added to their list on the achievements. It was simple, it was user-friendly, it didn't clutter up your inventory, and most importantly it didn't force vet EP characters to farm DSA hundreds of times if they ever want to complete the achievements.

This is exactly my feeling on it as well. Being able to pass these onto my main gave me one more reason to keep playing ESO. Part of the fun in ESO is playing multiple characters but there are many achievements that simply cannot be done on every character in a reasonable time frame.

    Absolutely not.

At least, I haven't changed my views on it and I hope that most others haven't changed their views. I am still as agitated as I was the day I experienced the change. I hope that ZOS realizes exactly how anti-player this change is and that they seriously consider changing it back to the way it was.

That post was from June, so right after console release. There is a current post that reflects our own current state:
Since the 2.1 update (at least for the PC version), the trophies can not be used. They are recognized directly in the success from the time they appear in your inventory. They also relate to the character who collects. You can not transfer them to your other characters through the bank.

While I prefer the old approach, this is probably the justification for the 'confusion' argument:

People who didn't know what to do with the trophies might have sold them without realizing they could use them. After finding out they should have used them, they could have asked ZOS to un-use their trophies because they didn't know because the game didn't make it clear.

Any confusion now just uses up inventory at worst. This means no one asking for ZOS to make backend changes. Worst case, someone emails them and gets told 'sell it'.

@DaveMoeDee Your post is correct where it relates to casual players who don't know about the trophy achievements and those players who don't know what they're doing. But the players who know what they are doing and who are chasing achievements are basically SOL when it comes to collecting the entire amount of trophies for the achievements.

So I guess the end-question goes to: What is more important: the trophy-hunter who sticks with the game long-term and is more willing to pay a subscription, or the casual-player who is more willing to switch games?

Was told today that all trophies that were acquired prior to the "fix" (hardy har har) will NOT be applied to the achievements and must be re-acquired. Sucks for me, I did not even know about using them before, and I have tons in my bank taking up space that are now completely useless..

ZOS created the confusion by making the collectibles work differently on console, throwing everyone into the same forum, where helpful PC users told console crowd for weeks to USE them. Only we had no idea it didn't work this way on console, cuz ZOS never told anyone. Brilliant. Way to think ahead.

And the solution ZOS implemented essentially broke the Trophy achievements, since it is now virtually impossible to get all collectibles on one character. Guess no one at ZOS thought to just add explanations to the collectible images, or a message that it was added to your achievements when you pick it up. They had no problem letting us know our guilds finished trials in xx minutes.

So that's what they hear from our complaints :

•In response to player feedback, we've drastically increased the drop rate of certain trophies that are rarely obtained from the following monsters: •Kagouti: Malformed Kagouti Tusks from Kagouti are now more plentiful. At maximum Veteran Rank, you can find Kagouti in the Rahni Pit Cage.
•Netches: Bile Gilt from Netches are now more plentiful. At maximum Veteran Rank, Netches can be found in Darkshade Caverns—the Cavern Patriarch, in particular, is said to be quite bilious.
•Nix-Hounds: Multifaceted Eyes are now more plentiful. At maximum Veteran Ranks, Nix Hounds can be found in Dragonstar Arenas many waves of foes, as well as in the new Maelstrom Arena. In both of these Arenas, Nix-Hounds have an even greater chance of dropping Multifaceted Eyes.
•Banekin: Banekin Horns are now more plentiful from Banekin specifically in Dragonstar Arena.

While true that something is better than nothing, I still feel that they're missing the big picture here. There has to be a soloable alternative. Increasing the drop rate on creatures that are specifically related to group content doesn't do much to improve the situation. Not to mention the drop rates would have to have been increased considerably in order to make a difference. A 1% increase isn't really going to be of much help.

Ultimately we're still stuck the same problem, terrible farm spots for limited creatures stuck behind group content that few people are going to want to do repeatedly.

What you say is true, and my posts say basically the same thing. But there is an upside. The fact that changes are being made indicates that our concerns have reached that level. We'll have to wait for the new DLC to see how much the changes help, but the lesson here is a wheel that squeaks loud enough gets oiled. Just keep that in mind if the new changes don't go far enough. My signature states plainly what I think should happen.

So, Orsinium patch notes for PTS finally mention something about monster trophies, but it's limited to drop rates for a couple of them. 3 things:

    1. PLEASE make them bankable again. I don't have the time or the patience to hunt down all trophies on all my alts. This system discourages playing alts.
    2. By ZOS' own admission, some trophies are still only found in group content (e.g. vDSA) for certain faction/level combinations. I do group content, but some people might not, especially trials. PLEASE reconsider making trophies available regardless of player-to-monster level gap, or adding missing monsters to other solo areas.
    3. Why are you addressing the drop rates for some trophies but not others? I happen to have most of those that are being changed, yet I'm missing bears, wolves, frost atronachs, imps, ogres and spriggans, despite having farmed them specifically for a number of hours in the past month and killed hundreds of the buggers. Are you catering to whomever cries the loudest? Or is there some logic underlying the decision to change only a handful of drop rates?

Yes please. A very dumb move that should be reversed. Since they seem disinclined to do that, makes me wonder if there is something sneaky going on.

Not much of a fix if nix-hounds are only added to DSA, even if there are more with a better drop rate. Why would they think locking collectibles in group content is okay?

I empathize, having spent many hours completing the achievement. But all the creatures listed above are available in many areas.. Just a matter of sticking with it. RNG can be a killer in this game.

To your 3rd item, I think they're increasing the drop rate on the ones where the mobs are more rare for vet characters in some alliances. Where the mobs are common for everyone even at max level, they likely decided it's fine to leave the drop rates as is. The more rare mobs get increased drop rate to compensate. It does make logical sense.

I'm totally with you on items 1 & 2. This is progress, though.

progress? the whole answer looks like a standing middle finger to me, and I have a precise idea of where they can stick it up. Hint : it's nowhere near my wallet.

Making the ones that are the biggest problems easier to get is definitely progress. It may not be a full solution, but it's better than the way things are now.

I see nothing here... If you didn't want to specifically farm DSA before, you won't do it after.

I enjoyed spend time on my alts, I don't anymore. I enjoyed fishing, exploring, i don't anymore. And I won't with this patch.

So, they added 3 nix hounds to DSA, made the drop rate from "plentiful = 1/4000" to "more plentiful = 1/3750" and go with this? good for you if you're happy with this, but i don't intend to get there at all, I'm AD anyway.
Flesh Atronachs? need 3 monthes more, 4 x 6 pages topics before they are taken into account too?

I'm sorry, there are so many more enjoyable things to do all over the internet, I've given this enough benefit of the doubt the past 2 monthes. If this is how they listen to feedback, I move on.

Has anybody dropped a collectable in a low level region where he doesn't get XP?

After farming the last 18.. I'm now down to 2. Bull Netches and Kagouti. Beside some lonely Netches in Coldharbour they are only available in low level regions for my EP char. After hunting them for days I'm convinced that they don't drop on low level.

I need some feedback here.. because asking the support is self-mutilation and a complete waste of time.
(the most likely anwer would be anyway: deactivate your addons)

PS: Does anybody know if the Netches item drops from Betty and Bull Netches? Heard a rumor that only Bull Netches count.

@SokarGoldberg You won't be able to get the Netches in your home alliance zones unless you are within 5 levels of them. Sounds like you out-leveled them since you refer to farming Cold Harbor. I've heard the rumor about bulls vs betties, but don't know if it's true. I did get my drop from a bull. There will be some kagouti added outside EP in the next patch, but I don't recall if netches are being added too. If not, you're limited to Cold Harbor.

Another reason to make trophies bankable again: I'm frequently finding people shouting at me for grinding in "their" areas when I'm "overleveled" for said area. I just want the freaking trophy drop...
