Laptop for ESO

Hi All,

Just been comparing spec and prices vs game requirements.

Just wanted to know if this will run ESO on high with decent FPS, dont care if cyrodiil has fps problems just for the leveling grind and dungeons since my gf got the game.

If anyone is playing on this and can confirm that would be awesome. Appreciate any input. Made sure it not an integrated card and had sufficient ram, not sure what other specs to look out for though

Actually, they're nearly identical from what I can tell. I guess I'll be able to answer your questions then when it arrives. Now I'm curious, how much is that the one you linked? I can't find the price on it.

I have a pretty bad laptop and the game runs flawless.

I have a laptop with more RAM (16GB) and a far older graphics card (same VRAM). Distortion and Water Reflection turned off, Shadows set to Medium, Draw Distance set to 37, PFX Memory to 1024 and PFX Draw to 80, all other settings ON or High and I run 40-60 FPS normally. Closer to 40 in large expanses with longer distances to draw and closer to 60 with more trees/buildings/walls blocking some views. Indoors I get upwards of 95 FPS and in intensive combat it does not dip below 30 FPS. In certain fog or lighting intensive areas that have not been optimized (a couple spots in Glenumbra or the Harborage, very few total) I dip to 24 FPS.

Unless you want Ultra or Ultra-High graphics settings, your laptop should perform well.

I'm not playing on it, but it should be fine. Your laptop is going to run hot though, just understand that. I'd invest in a chill pad of some sort. The specs will run the game under high/ultra settings, but I'd tone some of the settings down that aren't really necessary. Like grass, reflection, 100 view, etc.

Plus the Microsoft Pocket PC, Apple Newton, every device from Palm Computing, and a whole smorgasbord of tablets from companies that don't make tablets anymore existed in the 20th century.

Although the first "full" computer tablet didn't arrive until 2002 with the release of devices running Windows XP for Tablets. (I don't think any hardware ever used the Windows 3.1 Tablet edition, but I could be wrong.)

Mine is pretty much exactly the same except it's a 17" screen and 16GB DDR3. Game was running perfectly on max settings. However, since the IC update I was getting terrible FPS loss so I had to dumb down the graphics to Medium, but there's likely to be a more elegant solution.

Converted its roughly 913 US dollars havent been able to find one listed in dollar yet, thanks for the replies all.
@Robo_Hobo would greatly appreciate feedback once you've tried ESO out on your laptop

You specs are identical and it seems way cheaper so i better look around at some more options, unless Glossy LED has something to do with that price difference

I have a laptop that is 3 years old, so much less powerfull than this one, and the game runs fine in medium.

I wouldn't recommend any laptop with a 5400 rpm hard drive. That's painfully slow and will affect your gameplay. Look for a 7200 rpm HDD (or SSD if your budget permits). Other then that. the CPU and GPU are going to be fine at that resolution.

Found this one, similar price, just its a generation 4 i5, not a gen 5 i7. However it does have 1tb 7200 rpm drive and a GTX 950m seems like the better of the 2 deals if we consider the price is the same?

Ageee, i5s are still top notch for gaming, only really beaten by the i7, but will still wipe the floor with anything else.

i mean i5 3500 or 4500 or 5500 or even 6500 has the same performance.
I7 6700 is 6-core+hyperthreading unlike other i7 that were 4core+hyperthreading.

I have MSI GT72 2QE Dominator Pro and the FPS still drops to 12 in Cyrodil sometimes.

So, ESO definetely should not be a criteria for a laptop pick due to the poor engine its made on

I have 2 laptops one has 780M which runs game on ultra, other has 820M and on that one settings are on low-medium.

Basically this one you chose is enough, just keep in mind probably 1 year later you won't be able to run most games on high with that. So if your financial situation allows (as most laptops come with enough RAM and CPU no need to consider that side) try to buy the best GPU you can.

The 950m should be able to run it on high for standard questing and dungeons maybe with a few options turned down like reflections, thing is with getting anything much better than a 950m the overall specs and price of the laptop jump quite drastically. Budget is 900 - 950 dollars maximum.

Out of curiousity how much was your laptop with the 780m?

780M is Asus g750, it's pricey actually. Like 2000$ I think...

I have a laptop that's very similar to that one (identical in design, similar in specs), and ESO runs pretty well.

Someone mentioned above that it will run hot - that happened to mine (ESO overheated it a few times), and I tweaked the power settings so it'll now reduce power usage before speeding up the fan. Since that tweak, it hasn't overheated at all, and ESO has not suffered any notable performance loss.

didnt really look further than the 5400rpm hdd.. if you want a gaming laptop than you olready spend alot more than a pc and still end up with lower specs. but if you want to run eso (pve) on a laptop with good settings you will need atleast an ssd or hdd with 7200 rpm , a cpu with 4ghz and a 970/980 gtx(m?) in it else you will most likely be very dissapointed since you want to run it on high settings
