Whats with all the hate on ESO?!?! Hear me out.

I Honestly am one of the people that LOVE this game and don't really understand the moaners and people that say ZOS doesn't give a *** about this game and that this game sucks. I FEEL that that's totally untrue. Just by the quest dialogue and books and little notes i can tell how much heart they actually put into this game. Sure the quest OBJECTIVES could be a little repetitive but its an MMO so that's bound to be the case. The stories behind the quests are actually very deep and emotional and has ties to real world problems, like racism, slavery, class seperation, betrayal of trust, love, family, harlot ass females who manipulate guys for all that they can get(If you remember those couple of quests ;D). And as far as the PVE content goes, I really enjoy it and i dont really understand all the hate and negative feedback. For example, in the dungeon selenes web when your fighting the giant spider boss in the huge web and it collapses later in the fight. That reminded me of maexxena from the Naxxramas raid in world of warcraft, so i like the fights, they are badass.

PvP is badass. Sure there isnt 1v1 or cool arena modes but i have hope for that for the future. Idk i just feel really bad that this game gets so much flak considering how much i am enjoying it. Even if im not wanting to quest or pvp or do dungeons i can literally sit in riften for hours and talk about deep sh*t or just goof off with people.

Another point: Everyone looks different and unique because of dying. In wow everyone just kinda looked the same. Badass. But kinda the same. Another point: I play on console. When i saw that there would be no text chat i was PISSED. How is this voice chat system going to replace a text chat, a vital part of every other mmo?!?! Then i realized. Its NOT every other mmo. This game srsly doesnt even need text chat on console. I go to riften and i hear people selling and buying stuff as if its real life. I hear people freakin HAGGLING oblivion style and negotiating prices. Instead of me feeling antisocial as *** and just typing. Its amazing. Ive never had experiences like this in WoW. Only in ventrilo raiding/pvp. I understand the want for it for pvp, but if anything how would people communicate in a time like that? Voice. Messengers. If there was text chat i could imagine AD just making EP characters just to spy and cheat and prevent surprise attacks, which they could do with voice. If anything Aldmeri spies on voice chat getting information on attack plans sounds a LOT cooler. For trials and dungeons: Join an active guild and use voice chat to get a group together from your guild!

Its so much more personal and social then any other mmo ive played. As far as class balance goes, there is some work to do, but even WoW had and has CRAZY class balances(DK's at launch ;D). Especially in the first couple years im sure. I have high hopes for the future of this game and i think ZOS DOES care about their ESO players. I know they creep on the forums looking at what people post, so i feel like they ARE listening.

Anyways, sorry for the rant but i felt like getting this out to see if I'm the only one that thinks this way. Please reply with your thoughts. I would like hear other people out.

P.S I dont think this game is necessarily better then WoW, but it has the potential to be, in many ways. Socially its a lot better though.

All those things are still awesome and if that's where *you* are in the game more power to you....if you have already done all the questing you ever want to do and are specifically looking for PVP every time you log on be prepared to need to devote a ton of time to be able to get anything accomplished.

I have no interest in repeating content and leveling another toon and they've made pvp only really work well for people who can play massive amount of time.

Bottom line I guess is that there will always be people who are unhappy with where the game is going. Just enjoy the fact the game is still enjoyable for you and don't stress about those of us who are unhappy. We'll be gone sooner or later.

That was difficult to read. Could you maybe edit the post and use some paragraphs?

Most people complain because they do love the game and would like it to be even better. The people that hate it, leave without a word, and no one would ever know why.

I have to disagree with you about the lack of text chat. Not everyone can use voice chat for a variety of reasons. Thinking people are just being anti-social is a very small minded opinion. I can't always use my mic because I will disturb others in my home, or there is too much background noise happening and I choose to be courteous to the other players by not flooding the voice channels with the sounds of my house.

Since not a single person seems to be in character when they are talking over one another on voice in the marketplaces, it really doesn't feel like I am in Tamriel. Many times I hear the most vile things being said, I have to turn it off completely. That's not the type of immersion I am looking for. Numerous games have proven that text and voice chat can work well together. It's really time to stop with the all or nothing attitudes on the subject.

If you are loving the game as it is, then why are you here moaning about others that would like some aspects of the game to change so they can love it without question just like you?

Sometimes I think ZOS takes the lazy way, for instance the only reason you are dismounted when you hit water deeper then 4 feet is they didn't want to do animation for mounts swimming. Or how about the fact that I have to use a third party chat system on PC, it is funny how people complain about no text chat on console but no voice on PC. How about the group finder that has pretty much not worked ever, yes they are trying to do something with it but all the times of trying to use it on test it has yet to work for me. Of course live will be the indicator if the cross faction solution will effect anything.

I agree with this I think it could be so much better. Particularly when I see mechanics implemented in certain situations that would make things so much better. Or when ZOS says all the stuff they are working on but the community never sees or if they do it is a shadow of what they described.

Its nice to see someone point out how much they like the game and talk about all the positive points.

Indeed, ZOS has put a lot of effort in, but people often don't think of others. They don't consider the amount of time it takes to texture assets and write up lore. And all the other tasks in between that go into making a game. They do listen.

I will repeat what I have said before on this kind of topic, that people do not realise how lucky they are that the developers can actually come here and read what people say. You can actually be heard by the makers of the game. This is a privilege that not many people see. It is more obvious to people who have been gamers through a generation where you would never imagine hearing from the developers, they were elusive, let alone having them see your comments.

One thing I will say though on the subject of negative comments etc, its very difficult to please everyone. And when you have a forum that anyone can use freely, expect to see people venting

Not sure there are too many people who hate on ZOS more than me but as people have pointed out its cos we see what the game could be. Amazing. Sadly the decisions ZOS makes are so often detrimental to the experience it can make loving the game so difficult. The really annoying thing though is that so many choices they make are seemingly unnecessary and are contradicted in daft ways. Their whole immersion thing and yet ps4 gamertags instead of names. Its stupid and drives people away.

I am pretty happy with the game, I have a couple of issues, but they are not all that in the grand scheme of things.
Go to any games forums the players are not setting around a fire singing and holding hands , as they say haters are gona hate, but as a gamer for many years, I think players have an imagination that's the dev's just cannot program. Plus the dev's see the game in a different light, we see our small world and what affects us they see the big world and what affects everyone.

Let's make some things clear. ESO is a complex thing with many facets and with many people working on it. The work done by the teams that deal with the story .art ,music, graphics,level design. are very rarely mentioned in a bad light here and rightfully so. In those aspect the game is top notch.

There are however some other fundamental aspects of the game which have obvious problems. People usually have problems with pvp performance , the combat design and related game mechanics mostly at end game.. Most complaints are focused towards those things not towards the little cool stuff the art team does. This will never change because since this is an MMO the thing that will keep it alive is good overall game-play.

I like ESO. If I did not, I would not be here.

I think that most of the development team at ZOS is top notch. The writers, artists, sound, animation, etc are very good and deserve to be working on a AAA game.

Of the rest of the studio, I am cautious.

Edit: and the Community team... they are good, too!

Why can't zeni use voice converting in to text like our phones or keyboard support(for that they have to ask PS and microsoft to implement it, I guess).

We were all there before bro. Absolutely loved the game when it came out. Haven't had a gaming experience like it before.

However the late game content has gone down a different road than most of us wanted. Only those of us that threw hundreds to thousands of hours in the game know what's up. We're upset because we enjoyed the game, and we wanted better of it.

Dude honestly im ok with having an optional text chat. I never said there shouldnt be. Because your right, some people dont want to use voice chat.

I have come to the conclusion that the hate is simply because people don't bother to post about the stuff they like, or don't bother adding good points to their posts, just everything negative.

Otherwise, they wouldn't be playing at all.

I think most of the people that complain about PvP are people who want all classes to be the same, for example if there is a
Templar with a Resto Staff he will complain because he cannot kill a DK, why? They chose a Templar and a resto staff, do the math a Templar with a resto staff is not meant to kill a DK,
its meant to heal another player so that that player does not die.

I really want ESO to have diversity, So that elder scrolls online is both based on skill AND class role
If we make everything the same (aka: Reduce stamina regen, why? because DKs had too much stamina, the wtf is a DK supposed to have?) I think most people should accept that not all classes are the same, and that ESO needs diversity
It would be crappy if we turn ESO to another simple MMO,

*Super realistic example about to happen*

Imagine ESO as a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors
" -> " = WINs

Rocks -> Scissors
Scissors -> Paper
Paper -> Rock

Most people IMO want ESO to be

Rock = Scissors
Scissors = Paper
Paper = Rock

Why would they want that,

A DK should be able to kill a sorcerer no problem in a 1v1 unless the sorcerer
has enough DPS to kill the DK before the DK can kill him, A good sorcerer should have
the skill and abilities necessary to fight a DK, but if the sorcerer wants to get right in front of
the DK and poke him with his staff, the sorcerer should die.

A night blade should be stealthy and kill them quickly before they realize they have been killed (Stun them long enough to kill them)

a Templar should resist enough damage until the DK runs out of resources and dies

A DK Should have enough stamina to defend himself against multiple enemies, or enough health to
run away.

I feel every class should be different not only in terms of skills and abilities but in terms of gameplay if most of ESO players
want all classes to be the same then so be it, but don't complain about there not being enough classes or skills or morphs because if you cannot accept the fact that different types of builds should have a different style of gameplay then why have classes at all? if we are going to make everyone the same class with different ways to kill someone then what's the point

we are going to end with an ESO that looks like this:

*Fictional scenario, do not think this is real*

DK ABILITY: FIRE STRIKE (Shoot a ball of flame to an enemy dealing 65 damage every 4 seconds and stunning them for 2 seconds)

and

NB ABILITY: DARK ATTACK:
(Launch a hidden knife straight to your enemy dealing 65 bleeding damage every 4 seconds and knocking them back for 2 seconds)

and

SORC ABILITY: MISSILE LAUNCH:
(Cast an ice ball to hit an enemy for 65 damage every 4 seconds and freezing them for 2 seconds)

and

TEMPLAR ABILITY:DIVINE EXPLOSION:
(Create a ball of light inside your enemy dealing 65 damage every 4 seconds and paralyzing them for 2 seconds)

They are all basically the same just written different, ain't nobody want that. Every class should have their own play style and I don't want a future ESO where a DK is so under powered because everyone wanted a nerf, just accept that ESO needs classes to be different, A DK to go head on to battle, a NB that flanks in battle, a SORC that deals suppressive fire and a Templar to heal his allies, any variation of that is perfectly fine.

But anyways that's just my opinion and well Ill just keep playing.

Well, alot of the real hate would be from people who no longer posts on this forum but instead, spreads the hate around on other forums or in their friend circles.

The game does give alot to look poorly on about some examples.

Animation cancelling exploitation via Macros.
Constant critical unbalancing via very specific builds.
Lack of good content.
Bad optimization in Cyrodil.
Generally bad game design decisions.

And alot of other reasons. The game isnt bad, can it be alot better? Definitely, will it ever happen? Not at the rate Zenimax is going. Animation cancelling will never be fixed because Zenimax cant do it without either a combat system redesign or upsetting a certain medium sized group of players by using another fix such as GCD on everything or lessened damage on anything that doesn't have the animation or cast play out to a certain amount. Thats why they tried to cover things up and pretend that they intended this all along, when they clearly didn't when the issue was first brought up.

Content comes out pretty slowly and alot of what does come out tends to upset one massive population of players while pleasing another.

Cyrodiil has always had problems specially on heavy servers.

Unbalanced PVP will always exist no matter what you do, someone will find something broken and exploit on it. But sometimes it can be so massive that it can turn people off from the game making them wonder how and why Zenimax could possibly allow this Overpowered ability or combo of abilities with the right set of everything to happen.

And the bad design decisions is primarily due to this being Zenimax onlines first mmo, however they did nothing to learn from other mmo developers, to learn from their mistakes and what they did to make some to full success on the mmos they developed. Thus Zenimax repeats the same mistakes devs from 5, 10 even 15 years ago has made.

Pretty much all their is to it.

There is always some new player who posts stuff like this. Yeah yeah i also like the game.. until i had to do the silver and gold and after that did all quests. Then there is nothing. PvP used to be fun but is dead now.

I am glad you like it. I play since early access and i don't have any urge lately to login anymore

Cyrodill is dead
IC is boring as hell. Only grinding grinding and more grinding. Got 100k TV stones and nu use for them anymore
PvE i did all quests except craglorn
Trials i don't like
Pledges.. did a load and never got any. Doing the same dungeon over and over again get boring too.

If PvP would be fun again i would happily log in. Now, just not to get behind to much, i only login, kill some mobs so i get 1 CP and logout. BLEEEEH
