Calling again for a Global Control Mapping Option

I know I and many others have said this but I am really starting to get tired of having to reset my control mapping for every character individually every time a change is made.
Can we please have the option of having Global settings for Character key mapping? At least then I would only have to do it once.
If it is there, would someone please tell me where to look. I must be suffering from a scotoma.
