New Battle Leveling system

Has anyone been able to look into the new system yet?

When someone has time to look into the new Battle Leveling system will you please provide some information here?

They only mentioned that we will be able to use our attribute points, that a higher quality sword will provide more damage, and that lower levels will get more bonuses.

Does "Items Matter" mean that we will need to upgrade our gear every few levels to stay competitive now?

I love that we will have more diversity now but I'm concerned that most people will not be able to afford to re-gear their hero every few levels to stay competitive. Buying one set of golden armor per run through BwB (10 -> 50) I can live with (even though I only use blue now)... having to re-gear every 4 or so levels will be next to impossible for me. Am I wrong to assume that others feel the same way?

Also... does this new Battle Leveling system allow all set bonuses and skills to affect our stats finally?

I just made a very long post about it here.

But to answer your question directly, yes. Stats increase with both gear level and gear quality. However, I wouldn't recommend using Legendary gear for battle leveled PVP. I highly doubt the vast majority of players will use anything above purple, and I'd imagine most won't go above blue. Plus, it appears the quality of the gear is much less important to overall stats than the level of the gear. I plan on treating it just like 1-49 leveling, crafting new gear every 5-10 levels and upgrading to blue.

And yes, it appears all set bonuses will contribute to battle leveled stats. Even 5 piece bonuses with fixed values like Warlock or Hunding's scale up when battle leveled.

When it comes to the gear, think of it this way: When you're level 40 using level 40 items, you're slightly stronger than someone else at level 40 using level 30 items. While battle leveled, you should still be slightly stronger than that person, to keep the idea of character progression alive.

Great post! I mean the one you linked.. but this one is cool too lol.

I was probably a little over-dramatic when talking about the gold gear. I also realized that all of my crafters are actually now ready to make my own gear instead of paying my friend 1000g/blue piece which will soften the blow to my bank account some.

I did really like that I could jump into BwB at lvl 10 and keep the same gear until I leveled out but I will gladly take actual build diversity over that now that we have it.

It's going to be annoying to run into the super golded out twinks that will inevitably come into BwB but I'll adapt.

Thank you for answering my questions and for taking to time to make the post you did.

I have a pretty huge concern about this...

If you're dependent on gear, where are you supposed to get it as a full-time PvPer in BwB?

The current system does not work, simply because the gear you get is random, unreliable, and downright bad 95% of the time, while being a huge AP sink.

SWTOR had a similar system to the PTS' battle-scaling, except you could choose specific parts of gear with fixed stats. Looking for a crit-oriented build? You had that. Looking for a more tanky build? You had a way. Looking for a healer-oriented gear? You also had that.

Except you have nothing of it in the current system, so unless they add quality gear to AP vendors, even for a pretty high AP cost, I only see it gimping a lot of people.

I can be running blue gear every 5 levels from level 10 to 45, mind you, but I doubt everyone can, and that's because I already have a bunch of mats and alts.

Drops from Reward for the worthy are nice quite often, but you don't have near enough of these to rely exclusively on it if you don't leave BwB even once.

    I'm with you @Asmael

It will likely be difficult to compete as a fulltime pvper. You'll have to get crafting or grinding for that gold to pay crafters to make your gear =/.

I have a decent stockpile of gold and mats from before I dedicated my play-time to pvp, which will help, but at some point I will have to resort to leaving Cyrodiil if I want to stay effective as I lvl up my heros.

I wish they had left quality of gear out of the picture for Battle Leveling, that would have saved us all a ton of gold/mats.

While I do agree that the AP system isn't providing the best option.

Tel Var stones come to mind. But these don't adequately cover all play styles. However you could trade the mats for gold and then commission a crafter to make gear for your character.

The undaunted dungeons also drop the attribute sets as well. So with minimal exposure to PVE you could get some support equipment.
