It's great. They'll be able to better balance the classes because there will be less need to account for power slants. Considering the average PC player has less than 100, it's still a pretty high cap for hardcore players to dwarf the casuals in power. Best part is that not only is there a catch-up mechanic that will also make future CP gain more of a hardcore players only thing, but there's also no stopping us from gaining CP beyond the cap. Just can't spend any you do earn till they raise it.

Which means when the cap is raised to 1002, all the guys who farmed CPs in the meantime will instantly jump to the power cap and leave everyone behind in the dust.

I don't usually talk numbers, but here's some to chew on with regards to the number of champion points players have. The number of players that are going to be affected by the cap is very, very small.
    • Average CP on PC - 93
    • Average CP on PS4 - 46
    • Average CP on XB1 - 44
The averages I posted were calculated from active accounts that have at least 1 VR character. (i.e. - can start earning CP) An account is only considered active if it has been logged into in the past 30 days and played the game for a period of time.

These numbers are real. These numbers are valid. If you think you've been shafted, you probably need to get some sun.

It's fine. I just hit the Vet levels and have like four although I wasn't for a cap but rather a different way of handling the CP. I am not for or against this cap but I did like this portion of the CP plan: Rather than a cap I think this is the better solution The amount of XP required to gain a Champion Point now scales with the number of total Champion Points you have. get rid of the cap idea but stick with this idea.

Lower numbers gain it quite fast once you hit say 501+ (just for the sake of the notes) your rate goes down and continues to go down in a reasonable way of course. Catch up mechanic and also not forcing people to bank CPs once they reach the cap only to possible reach the cap instantly when the cap goes up.

(Posted that in another thread.) Now I don't mind a cap personally but I can't help but feel a little bad for those who grind and chose to do so. Even though they aren't losing their CP so it makes me wonder if a cap solves the problem. If they raise it 3 months after the DLC all the banked CP gets spent instantly and there is a power gap again till people "catch-up" and that won't really change with a cap.

But the cap is okay. If that is what ZOS needs to do then okay

Way too low. I'm only on 150 something and I don':t think there need,to be a cap.

You play more, you progress more. Pretty simple.

This as well as battle levelling... May as well stay rank 35 forever.

CP don't make a huge difference.

The laughable thing is that gear is a way bigger advantage. Casuals will never get that. So they'll still cry when they lose in pvp to someone with better gear or who have put time and effort into making a build that really works.

I think the numbers should be averaged only among max level players...some people play once a week for an hour...that really skewes the numbers... I am at 483, by the time the DLC drops I will most likely be at 550...then I will have to wait 3 months to get a CP cap raise, in those 3 months most likely will earn 1-2 CP a day or 90-180 CP total. so by the next DLC I will be at around 730...I am betting by the time the new cap comes out i will have already passed it...

    It is what it is.

I'll adapt, and it won't affect me so much. I'll just need to be more picky about where I place my points. But in all, that pickiness will be better for the build(s) I have for my characters.

    So, it's OK.

I have 321 CP on PS4, should be about 400 when the Orsinium is released. With the catch up mechanic it should be a lot easier for people on lower CP to get to the cap during Orsinium expansion.

I'm going to go with the neutral vote of it being ok. I do however feel sorry for the players who have put all the grind hours in to get many CP, they will get hit hardest with the cap. Personally it doesn't affect me, I don't even know how many I have, probably 30ish, I'm only at VR5 and haven't grinded for them.

No, but if you consider that one can get to V1 in a day (as some people claim here, I have never tried it), then a number of people who have at least a V1 character that have logged in in the last 30-days are short-term gamers that are not going to be here very long, and they have not been here long enough to accumulate a high number of CP. To them, the catch up mechanic is more interesting and useful than the cap would be.

Whereas there are people who have been playing this game a long time and have invested in their characters that will naturally have higher amounts of CP. (though some enjoy playing the game in different ways and may not even have a V1 character yet).

So for proper statistical purposes, I would like to know what the "CP by month played" average would be.

You do know that the long term players would be included in the Logged in within the last 30 days statistic right? As if they are long term players and continuously playing. Than theyd have been in the game in the last 30 days. Especially with IC just now about a month old on PC.

The only players that would be higher than the average are going to be in smaller and smaller groups as it climbs to higher CP Points. Chances are the average for the above average players with CP Points is something in the 300 range. And so the developers are giving them some head room for accumulation until the next CP Cap raise. Id expect to see something like 200 CP Point raises from here on out. Players can still accumulate all the CP Points they want. This cap wont stop those players from grinding.

Makes sense though. They needed something divisible by 3 because of how CP allocation works. They also couldn't go to 600 (for a zero) because that would allow people who have capped access to TWO passives per tree. Rather than killing it all the way down to 300, they went with 501 which gives a lot of power without making maxing out essential.

too low. 700-800 = honest number. the Average CPs is pretty useless, i've 30+friends (over half ogf my flist) that logins every 20 days just for check if pvp still sux or, and all of hem got less than 20cps. i personally own 3 account atm and 2 of them got less than 60cps. random average is not true players average. atm all competitive and casuals players are over 350, i just came back after 90days off and i'm at 400. 500 is simply too low.
