It's now or never, change Axes passives

Remove the useless DoTs, and replace it with a bonus to critical hits damage (roughly 15%).

We want to see axes in PvP. Nearly no one is using them at the moment.

Thanks devs.

Right now, nobody is using axes for damage because the passive provided to them is far worse than maces/swords/daggers.
There is no Situation, where it can shine.

I like the suggestion of a bonus to Crit-Dmg. Numbers have to be balanced, ofc.

So, as a melee Orsimer since Beta, I would really appreciate the long required change to the axe passives.

Would like to see Zenimax apply the same effect(s) to 1H and Shield. Tanks light/Heavy attacking with swords, Axes or Maces also apply the equivalent effect.

It would be nice if 1H & Shield had more flavour too it. Also it's sad the only master weapon here is a sword. There should probably be more master weapons.

Just As you mentioned Master Weapons: They Should make a Master axe Same As The swords but with a huge bleed effect, this is a way to Maybe make an Axe worth a thought.
But who Knows, Maybe we get Something like this from The new Master Weapons :)

Yea, more good 1h master weapons would be great. But we can hope for Orsinium patch with several new "ability changing weapons" announced.

But i absolutely disagree to apply offensive passives to 1HS. I see no point in this.

Defensive passives for the weapon types in 1HS tree would be more interesting. Something like:

sword: add a chance to parry
mace: due to the brunt, decreases enemy movement-/attackspeed
axe: adding an low-damaging AoE (melee range, 180° cone), stunning all npc enemies for 1-2 seconds with 10 sec cooldown
dagger: maybe increases movementspeed by a significant amount

These are just some ideas, but would be interesting. But all should be abilites to increase the tanking in Special situations with minimal to no offensive usage.

Seriously, does anyone use axes? They're about as helpful as they were in Skyrim

I use axes, to try to proc some items passives since launch (and I like damage+dots features and abilities).
Sometimes it worked, it used to work (ashen grip, ravager...).
However too many mobs are immune to bleed and I believe not bleed damage on damage shields....
And the new finding : the bleed dots seem to appear only when I stop hitting my target (according to my addons).
  • Torug_gro-Yak
Yep, These are the exact Points, why the passive for axes is useless.

    - too many immune Mobs to bleed (but fire elementals take dmg from fire attacks?...)
    - dmg shield Problems
    - reapplying the DoT resets the tick timer
    - Overall dmg is too low to fit the %-Bonus of the other weapon types (scaling)

One problem I see with making the DoT competitive: to be on par with the other weapon types, the Dot have to bring an comparable DPS increase. But you can barely scale a DoT with DPS, which includes so many factores. If you make it static, as it is, it would either be too high or too low in most cases. Balancing this, should be very difficult.

I use axes because I like the Bleed effect, but it either needs a big buff to the Bleed damage or a change to be able to compete with the mace/sword/dagger. Though one nice thing about the bleed is that its damage scales according to your stats and I have had a few times where bleed damage kills off a player, although "few" is definitely the keyword..

Sidenote: Most PvE bosses are actually affected by Bleed, even if you don' think they would be and having axes when dual wielding turns Steel Tornado into an AoE DoT, which is really nice against big groups of players or mobs, now if the Bleed was simply stronger it would be awesome.

Do anybody know if Bleed can be purged by the way?

They are adding more master weapons with Orsinium, specifically the Maelstrom Arena. The 2ndtier of Master weapons will affect the 2nd ability in the class three they are associated with. The master's onehand (1h and shield) skill tree buff will be to Low Slash for example, whereas the 1st tier was to Puncture.

Agreed and it's now or never: Make all useless abilities and morphs in the game desireable and buff underpowered abilities. Give us more build diversity and options <3 simply by making more abilities appealing, not by nerfing things to make other things look better. This is a bad logic
