This is what I've been waiting for over anything since console release, now I really hope we can make our own controller templates. I've been using an xpadder configuration since beta, and I'll be really happy to not have to mess with any third party issues while playing from my bed.
Thanks a lot ZOS, I'm sure this task was not easy to accomplish, I'm sure I'm not the only person extremely excited for this change.

No, it is part of the BASE patch, so you should have access to gamepad support without getting Orsinium.0 -

??????What! My wireless Xbox controller works fine with Win10. Better look elsewhere for the problem.
Controller patch timed well with release of Steam controller. Hoping some of you controller fiends will be early adapters and let us know how it works with ESO.

I'm not sure what you've tried but compatibility settings always seemed to do the trick for me as far as that matter is concerned. I've moved onto using DS4 in combination with Xpadder, so I'm excited I'll be able to use all in-game commands, while still having the functionality of the track pad.Hand of Sithis - Daggerfall Covenant0 -

You might want to check your system then, cos there's something wrong, Windows 10 finally has FULL support for Xbox controllers having its own drivers and software built in. If yours isn't working then you have something installed or configured wrong.0 -

Happy for all of you PC players though, as someone who did play the Beta on the PC but waited for the console release, I feel your pain with the mouse and keyboard business. It's the main reason I waited for console release!

If they read the patch notes properly it does say quite clearly there that those playing on a gamepad will not lose text chat.0 -

I wouldn't make any assumptions that this in any way impacts consoles.
Controller Support for PC
You are now able to use a controller that supports XInput, such as an Xbox One controller, while playing the PC version of the game!
To switch to gamepad mode, navigate to the Gameplay menu in Settings and plug in your controller.
Existing add-ons will continue to work.
Gamepad mode on PC retains keyboard support for text chat, UI shortcuts and character movement.
The API has been updated to encourage development of gamepad-specific add-ons. We can’t wait to check them out!
Gamepad mode is not supported on the Mac game client even though the option is visible and accessible. You can switch back to the regular form of gameplay by pressing the Escape key, then navigating through the keyboard Settings to turn it off.

The only difference is that the text box is still present and pre text emotes on console go into the text chat box

Deheart✭✭✭Controller support is what I was waiting for since beta! While still playing beta they promised it before launch, but they used the now dreaded word to say when... SOON!
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.0 -
The controller support they have on the PTS is still in beta for sure. Couldn't find a way to resign buttons or even clearly see what buttons do what. No mount button or way to access the main menu from the controller. Also you get stuck in the crown store and have to resort to the keyboard to get out. I know it's still a beta feature but I'm not sure I understand why they are not simply porting over that the consoles have with just a few tweets for the PC?0 -

So this means we can swap stealth and weapon swap??!?! Hands down the best improvement to this game to date in my opinion.
People will complain and say it took too long and that it isn't what they expected but projects like this aren't a piece of cake. It without a doubt costs resources and plenty of time to implement this and ZOS, despite how long this was in the making, just greatly increased the joy of the game for many people.
