Safer from hacks/bugs: valuables in bank or on character?

So which is the safer place to keep my valuables to avoid loss to hackers, bugs, and accidental loss - keep it in the bank or on a character?

Probably best to keep them in your bank. I haven't heard of people somehow managing to steal items from other players (just tel var stones in IC but that's intended) but you still might want to do that so you don't accidentally sell, destroy, or trade the wrong item.

I have not heard of any hackers taking stuff, some people have lost things due to glitches but CS was able to restore those. Its not something to worry about in this game.

However, you can deconstruct and or upgrade items that are in the bank. So, if your hanging on to something say for research or trying to complete a dropped set, your much better off rolling a Mule Alt and having that character store your most important things if you don't want to be careful when deconning.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing now (since I saw the bank-hacking thread) - stashing most of my gold & best unused gear on an alt mule. Just wasn't sure what anyone else was doing or if I was missing anything.

how is that going by the way Cazzy did ZOS get any closer to finding out who did it? they must have some way to track mail or something.

and to answer your question tomg I think both places are just as likely to get hit unfortunately. If I where a hacker I would check inventory first, personal bank second, guild banks you have withdraw permission for last.

thats an easy question. Make mules (alts whose only purpose in life is to hold on to your stacks of lewt)

Bank space is not 100% safe. Several errors have occurred in this games history that are a testament to that. and No... not everyone got their stuff back or where sufficiently compensated.

peoples Accounts have been hacked. stuff has been taken, and characters have been deleted before. CS has had limited power to do anything in these situations. my advice: stay away from third party websites(websites that sell ingame items, currency, and accounts/codes) ~(little bit more explanation is... if you buy stuff from these places, they get their merchandise by robbing other players.... IE it's alot easier to steal other peoples information and mask + duplicate the connection information required to access your accounts stuff then it is to higher 12 chinese gold farmers to work 23 hours a day 6 days a week), never share your account or password information over anything. (use teamviewer if you want ur friends to help you out)

And if your amazingly rich. u might even consider making/maintaining your own private guild or even asking a guild leader you trust if u can safly keep your millions in the guild bank for safe keeping.

Sadly I was robbed from all my alts as well as the bank. I think they just need to access one to get to everything

Apparently the easiest way for hackers to do this is via email. So change your password frequently. Also I want to petition for a bank log (like the guild have) or a Sent Mail box. It'll make it easier for everyone, including Zenimax, to track people and items.

They're still investigating at the moment. Hopefully I'll hear back tonight with some good news. I honestly just want whoever it was banned. Even if it means sacrificing everything I've earned the last 6 months - I wouldn't want this happening to someone else.
