Not yet but they've talked me through password changes and are now investigating my missing items

I'm gonna start the game all over again with nothing and try to relax back into it in the meantime. I don't want to let the hackers win.

I know the feel get your account hack by other it is not fun at all

You are getting a much better response than a guild mate had when the gold and items on one character were emailed to someone elses account and then that character was deleted. He has over 200k gold on his character. None of the other characters were deleted.

The agent on the line said it was his account that was signed in to at 4 in the morning and the items were emailed to another player.

This guildmate does not play at 4am and never has. His account is a PC one as well.

They refused to give him his stuff back (which is the least they should have done considering now he has to power level another character and he had used Crown Store XP scrolls on the one that was deleted). He received super poor customer service. Not only should they have returned all the items he has stolen from him, BUT they should have banned the account the items were sent too.

I'm pretty sure they are talking about an authenticator. While a password manager is normally fine, depending on the level of encryption, having your passwords stored on a computer in any fashion isn't completely secure.

Had another response asking what precise items were missing, when it happened and if anybody has access to my console. I don't think there's a way to check what was in your bank a few days ago, is there? I can remember the type of items but not how many were taken. May I suggest a log of everything you put in and take out of your personal bank, like the guild has?

Hi @Cazzy - starting to think there's a lot to be said for carrying the really precious stuff around with you.
I'd consider keeping it under the mattress but we don't have a mattress!
Maybe we should sue the bank. All the bankers bang on about how safe our stuff will be.

Although I'm more concerned about protecting others at this stage. I feel bad for ZoS spending their time on this because of one idiot. If they can find out the person responsible and ban them then it's the best outcome

Hi @Cazzy - I would suspect that this thief has done quite a few people over and maybe they are just not on the forum.

Sadly, there's no way of finding out how many people this has happened to overall. Or how often it happens.

I wonder whether the thieves lurk about near the banks to spot the constant visitors. Which bank was it?

I'd love it if they could trace the guy, I believe in consequences!

what Zos can do when your account is hacked is a rollback till before stuff went wack and then u should have everything back (but also lose everything u gained after the point of rollback ofc)

But seriously; those are quite a lot of valuable items apart from low level crafting stuff. And the amount of gold taken is too accurate to be an accident. I hope you'll get your stuff back and will enjoy the game again.

Hi @Cazzy

one assumes this account hack and taking specific items would have gone via your mail system, as there is no other way to steal/remove your items unless they list them in an auction house very cheaply and hope to buy them themselves before anyone notices. Even then the gold could not be sent, (unless they made purchases with it and sent items).

As you lost ~52 items there should be 7 mails sent ingame to a collection mule or perp.

ZOS can hopefully track sent messages. And your auction house listings between the time of the incident and when you reported it (ticket) I dont know if they can do this but it would give a full inventory of what is missing. unfortunately we dont have an outbox/sent mail box. So i dont know how possible it is to querry this with the server.
