I agree with you. But this is the norm in mmos. It has the opposite affect on some, keeps them chasing the carrot.

Marketers tell themselves that to help them sleep at night. Inside management meetings everyone lives in their bubble with blinders on chanting "Make them grind." They don't realize that whatever they gain in carrot chasers they lose in subscribers and more and more people see a game designed by a marketing major instead of a real game designer. This is how a game slowly loses its soul.

Valid point but unfortunately it's worked fine for some major studios who I will not name, lol. Now everyone thinks, "why not us?"

ESO is a beautiful game and when it works it is awesome, nothing else out there like it.
But too often it seems when the DEV group does an update or fix it doesn't fix or do much other than screw up the game.

Lag, having to reset your ability bar, extra long load screens with a nice message at the top, missing mundus, IC built into Cyrodil access (which makes no sense to me) no rhyme or reason to nerfs/boosts, etc, etc, etc, little things, big things, more things broken.

I think if they reverted back to 2014 and left it at that for consoles everything would be ALOT better

Put out IC if you want but it should be it's own area and removed from cyrodil and access requirements/load times.
They are re-birthing some miss matched spawn of WOW that I don't like where they are going.

Theorycrafting is what really motivated my to play.

Coming up with unique builds that synergized well with gear combinations. This kept me up all night thinking of new ideas and all the ways you can mix and match different gear sets.

Then all my favorite gear was removed from the game.

Instead of having more than 15 endgame jewelry sets, to choose from, we now have 3. Willpower/Endurance/Agility.

Three Jewelry sets in V16. That's it.

All the new armor sets don't come with jewelry. So if you want a 5 piece bonus, you are stuck with 5 armor, 2 helm set, 3 pc Endurance/Willpower/Agility. Hmm would be nice to have a V16 masters weapon to fill out that set but no such luck.

Would be even nicer to have my Ravager Jewelry, Dreugh king, Hawk's Eye Potentiates set, Vengence Leach, etc. So i could come up with all types of great builds and combinations.

There is nothing to do in the IC but zerg and grind for gear that is NOT IN ANY WAY better than the previous endgame gear. You are forced to upgrade to stay competitive statswise.

Until, I get v16 versions of all my favorite sets, WITH JEWELRY, I have no motivation to play.

    Theorycrafting is dead.

This message brought to you by the Endurance/Agility/Willpower rings. The only v16 Approved rings in Tamriel(TM)

You dont need the new jewelry sets to compete, my NB doesnt even need them otherwise i loose weapon damage and i cant fit in my master weapons, same for the Molag Kena shoulders, i dont use them on my stam Templar because there are other options to get the same weapon damage.

In other words, the old gear has still value in end game sets.

I typically don't like threads like these but lately I would have to agree. The 'carrot' seems to be gone. I spent a couple mil out of the gate to get my end game set so that I wouldn't have to grind and could just enjoy the new DLC. Well, that was probably a mistake because the DLC just seems like a grind.... haha. I know some people are enjoying it and I think that is great. I want the game to succeed and have subscribed since day one.

That said, everything has just lost its appeal to me. I suppose the right question would be ... what is the game missing? My short wishlist:

    1) solo pve Arena
    2) pvp battlegrounds and/or arenas or some type of new pvp game
    3) more objectives in cyrodiil to spread the zerg out once people return to the top (such as taking and controlling small towns or more resources scattered across the map)
    4) Meaningful quests (thinking Orsinium here) that actually have rewards worth using.
    5) class quests and gear? long and hard progression maybe?

I set foot in IC for the first 5 days then dont want to be there again. Not because of the grind (although it is boring), I just dont feel comfortable in a concealed area, even in video games. up till today Alikr Desert and Cyro are still my fav zones for its wide-openess.

I just hope there is some way for solo players to obtain V15 crafting mats besides waiting for daily deliveries

I get this feeling sometimes. The "go here, grab this, return to start, then go out again to get something, return, repeat" gets tiring at times. Why can't they just ask for everything at once so I only have to be out once?

Padded quests are a chore and can take steam out of anyone.

Sorry you don't find the game fun, but maybe a break is what's needed.

What kept Cyrodiil going so long, (through all the lag, exploits, and lack of content updates) is that it had high replayability. You could get into a group and have decent PvP fights. You can't get that in the imperial city. There isn't ONE place where you can actually fight where 10million HP mobs lobbing fire negates at you doesn't ruin it.

The original imperial city design had you clearing out portions of the city and claiming them for your faction. What happened to that?

I haven't even bought IC and am still VR1. I just cant seem to play longer than 10mins. The questing is sooooo boring and endgame isn't clear. No raids, no text chat. The game is just so boring on consoles. Endgame just needs to be clear. Idk what to even do if I hit VR14. Guess Ill just wait for Orsinium or something.

Actually, after a few years, I have started to view those kind of quests as sight-seeing quests. They want you to go find your way around, explore, meet other NPCs with other quests, instead of a straight line to the next quest. Which was what I LOVED about Skyrim, you could talk to a person, find out their story, and maybe get a quest, or have some background when they showed up in a quest. In this game, they took the fun out of that, because Beta testers demanded it BTW, because every quest giver has that dang carrot.

This DLC for a myriad of reasons has caused to play other games or do other things with my time then play his game.

I have very little positive to say about this update/DLC other then it looks pretty and some of the styles I'll never get look good, that's about it.

    The bugs...fail
The load screens of death..... fail
    Group queuing system on console....fail
Still no text chat or lfg on console.....fail
    Mixing PVP and PVE......fail
    Player Nerf NPC buff.....fail
    Some on the skill changes......fail

I've even stopped pulling up ESO on twitch, I'm slightly comoforted to know its not just me tho. This game is definitely less fun since the patch/DLC.

After trying out IC this week, I have no desire to go back, if I wasn't subbed I wouldn't buy it, wouldn't recommend it anyone, wouldn't talk anyone out of it either. But, seeing as IC is the new end game content and how much I haven't enjoyed it I've debated myself for the last two days about canceling my sub.

Not bashing, just asking. Why are these threads created? If you've lost the motivation to play, what could I or anyone else on these forums possibly do to remedy this? You don't need me or anyone else to tell you you're right to feel the way you do and it's okay. As one gets older we learn that nothing lasts forever. It's okay to move on. Luckily in the gaming world you have many new avenues to travel. Farewell friend, perhaps the next place you land will fill the void and provide lasting joy.

The entire point of the forums is to provide feedback. By feedback is that i've lost the motivation to play. A dev may read this and go "why did they lose motivation or get bored? What can we do to keep players in the game?".

Why did you lose motivation or get bored?
What can they do to keep you in the game?

General feedback is so common it's generally not useful.

Been playing since Day 2 when it released on PC. This game used to have something going for it. I loved launch despite the issues cause I saw the potential for it. Little did I know the devs would shoot themselves in the feet every chance they got. Waited over a year for IC and this quickly composed trash mob gank arena is what we get, along with some p2appear bs. The new business model is garbage by the way. Going f2p was the final push for killing what ESO had going for itself.

I switched to ps4 at release after taking a four month break from the game, little did I know all helpful communication features were abandoned so me having major social anxiety can't initiate vocal conversation with strangers, and rl friends all have xboxes. I don't feel immersed at all anymore. ZoS turned this into a straight money grab. For the record, I used to defend this game and the devs. They've had too many chances.

The main reason I have very low motivation to play is that, in this last patch, they took away all the fun rewards.

What is the point of playing DSA for masters weapons if you cant get V16? A V14 gold master weapon is still inferior to a normal V16 (really V20) weapon.

We had all this amazing gear to work for in PvP. Selling that gear helped us get money for potions and continue to PvP. Ravager, hawks eye, cyrodiil's light, they were all great.

The new tel var sets are just boring. None of them have jewelry so you can't properly mix and match. And that willpower/agility necklace and ring set is the worst of the bunch?

So ZOS is telling me I have to run dungeons 100 times or farm claws to get lackluster gear that pales in comparison to what I could buy with AP last patch as a result of doing something I actually enjoyed?

ZOS: PvP'ers like PvP. Bring PvP back to the game and reward us for PvPing. Not grinding. IC isn't PvP, its a PvE grind moshpit with ganking.

I have enough compulsive tendencies to pull me in for daily writs and leveling alts, but I keep asking myself why I am not playing The Witcher 3, which I would enjoy more. The idea that I am missing a day of writs pulls me back in. Pretty silly.

My main problem with ESO is me, not the game. I keep playing, but I am not committing enough to do the daily pledges that I would enjoy a lot and that could get me some more interesting gear. I also haven't bothered to craft decent armor since my main is on the cusp of VR14 and my 2nd alt is only vet 6 (but, wow, leveling is fast now in vet zones). Since I am not doing vet dungeons and when I rarely do PvP it is with groups, wearing drop sets seems to work fine.

So I think I am less frustrated than some because I have not yet developed my characters and gear to the point where there is nothing left to target as a goal. The truth is, I want to reach that point so I can go back to single player games.

    .

That really scares me. There is no real enjoyment in doing writs. Its just making the same boring items and materials over and over again for a chance at a rare item.

But its working on you. You log in and spend your time doing mundane things. You must be ZOS's favorite player! There are a few of us that still expect to log on and actually do exciting fun activities but most of us have left the game at this point.

Perhaps that's what ZOS wants. Their prime demographic would just be grinders. Much easier to create grinds than actual content.

I've been quite bored with ESO since IC as well.

Imperial City is a great concept with many new and fun adventures. Bringing PvE to PvP land has made for many great laughs for friends and I. New dungeons, new gear, new grind spots, new quests - all of which I'm very happy about. The patch is full of new things to do - unfortunately - for a very limited amount of time.

With every game update, regardless of who the creators or developers are, comes great change. At first I was happy my guild mates and I had new things to do. We went adventuring through the sewers, did the new dungeons, checked out some new gear - all of the typical MMO stuff when a new patch or segment of a game is released. After the initial happiness came the realization, "this is it?" - "this is what we waited a year for?".

Now several weeks after IC release we're back to where we were pre-IC. Except now it's even worse. PvP in Cyrodiil is basically nonexistent. Most campaigns have been made into "buff servers" or "sewer servers", many of the changes to skills made even more balance issues, old - fixed - bugs are now coming back to life along with plenty new bugs to hang out with, lag has gotten extremely worse in all aspects of the game, loading screens may as well be a trial boss - I could continue with the list but I believe you have gotten the gist.

Whether or not you enjoy the IC content, or even have access to it, the changes with it have effected the game as a whole. From the amount of negative feedback on these forums, as well as various gaming sites/review sites, I would assume many players are not too impressed. Personally I have unsubscribed from ESO for the time being and logging less than a quarter of the amount I used to. I hope that eventually Zenimax/ZoS figures out the game breaking issues that they seem to continually make worse with every patch.
