Lost the will to play...again...

Nothing seems to be keeping me on this game? I played the new IC update for a bit, and I got bored of it in about a day, and haven't logged on since. Anyone else in the same position?

Before the update I was playing quite a bit, I would complete my crafting dailies and open my mail etc....but I haven't logged on in since 2 days after the update. I have no motivation to play this game anymore. :/

exactly what happened to me valn. Was hoping this update would give me renewed interest in the game, but it had quite the opposite effect.

Plenty of other good games out there though, especially ones where the devs actually listen to player feedback and communicate with their playerbase.

Theorycrafting is what really motivated my to play.

Coming up with unique builds that synergized well with gear combinations. This kept me up all night thinking of new ideas and all the ways you can mix and match different gear sets.

Then all my favorite gear was removed from the game.

Instead of having more than 15 endgame jewelry sets, to choose from, we now have 3. Willpower/Endurance/Agility.

Three Jewelry sets in V16. That's it.

All the new armor sets don't come with jewelry. So if you want a 5 piece bonus, you are stuck with 5 armor, 2 helm set, 3 pc Endurance/Willpower/Agility. Hmm would be nice to have a V16 masters weapon to fill out that set but no such luck.

Would be even nicer to have my Ravager Jewelry, Dreugh king, Hawk's Eye Potentiates set, Vengence Leach, etc. So i could come up with all types of great builds and combinations.

There is nothing to do in the IC but zerg and grind for gear that is NOT IN ANY WAY better than the previous endgame gear. You are forced to upgrade to stay competitive statswise.

Until, I get v16 versions of all my favorite sets, WITH JEWELRY, I have no motivation to play.

    Theorycrafting is dead.

me too, i detoxed myself . i just dont seem to fit with this game. i try and try to like it, had it since beta. played for 5 months and stopped because of all the bugs, and lag, and disconnections. not too mention the skills suck and are boring over and over. maybe im too use to this single player experience? but i dont know what this game wants to be, and i feel lost in its translation. it does not feel like a mmo to me, because so many aspects are directing me towards single player gameplay.

i made a new alt in a completely different faction that i am used too, and i got to level 7 and stopped. just dont have the passion to do this again and again.
and after the update with the stamina stuff, and some weird direction that zos seems to be going , i just plain out dont like it anymore. it has some great qualities, but lacking in so many basic functions. just feels......off.

i do hope one day this game will turn out to be fabulous. but i dont want to spend my time frustrated playing this while deep down inside i know, as SOON as a good game is released im gone. id rather not play and keep my sanity ..

best to everyone else still sticking it out.

thanks zos for breaking your game and not making it fun in so many different degrees.

I can relate to OP. Forums are the best thing about this game.
Started during beta, tried a few comebacks, never got past level 17.
    • a progression system with no upper limit and no diminished returns, so jobless no-lifers can increase the gap with every day while newcomers won't ever be able to catch up
    • a joke of a combat system that makes a bug like animation cancelling a mandatory feature
    • some really crappy and immersion-breaking combat animations

Game has lots of potential. But then again this could be said to about 80% of all MMOs. Potential won't entertain me.
Right now, this game is not worthy of my limited free time.

I keep sticking around (out-of-game, not in-game) because somehow I hope this will become the real deal some day.
But that's just because I need a reality check.

And my favorite skill (Fire Staff-Destr. Clench). Among many other things that affect PVE negatively, while only adding forced group dungeons. The fact that the V16 gear actually limits build combos (and is only marginally statistically better), certainly doesn't make PVE folks want to suffer through a game zone they'd rather not be in to acquire it.

Not bashing, just asking. Why are these threads created? If you've lost the motivation to play, what could I or anyone else on these forums possibly do to remedy this? You don't need me or anyone else to tell you you're right to feel the way you do and it's okay. As one gets older we learn that nothing lasts forever. It's okay to move on. Luckily in the gaming world you have many new avenues to travel. Farewell friend, perhaps the next place you land will fill the void and provide lasting joy.

    Please anser me this question:
Why, in your opinion, are threads created at all?

You view on things is most likely vastly different than mine.
Unless it's in the tech problems forum, I don't think peoples' motivation to post threads is to receive a "remedy" to their problems. This is a place to exchange opinions about this game. OP stated his view of things.

Why do you post in this thread, of all the discussions available to you? Without bringing anytghing on-topic to the table?
Just to let us know that you don't think this thread should exist?

Great stuff, keep it coming. You have your work cut out for you.

The entire point of the forums is to provide feedback. By feedback is that i've lost the motivation to play. A dev may read this and go "why did they lose motivation or get bored? What can we do to keep players in the game?".

Other people on the forums may give suggestions to me to encourage me to play, maybe there's something I haven't done in game that would be enjoyable to do for example. I could then pass this on to other people and maybe they will play the game more, which means zenimax gets more money.

    Hope that answers your question.

Unfortunately, I'm feeling the same way. Loved the game before the patch. But then all my gear became obsolete that I had worked so hard for (not because the gears v14, but because ZoS nerfed the eff out of it) I can't keep myself happy in tamriel anymore. It also doesn't help that the new vet dungeons are stupid hard with stupid low droprates. How are pugs going to complete the vet dungeons, I wonder? To top everything off, ZoS nerfed ALL my Templars skills by atleast 10%. Even meteor damage dropped from 9k to 8k. Ugh

I wonder the same thing... Why post if you are unhappy and leaving? But maybe they are looking for encouragement... Maybe they think the dev will listen? Maybe Americans have grown so accustomed to having things "their way" that when they don't get it they feel the need to complain about it?

I don't know... I loved AoC for the first 6 years of that game but when reality set in that Funcom wasn't going to do anything substantial with the game... I moved on! Didn't post about it... Just found a better home which is why I play ESO.

It has flaws and isn't perfect but I do love this game. However, if and when the time comes, there won't be any goodbyes or farewells...

I have to say, well thought out response. Could you go even further and list details on why you feel you are losing interest so fast? It feels like a grind again? You had your gear, but now its a significant grind to find the mats/gear again? The 'grind' is un-entertaining (Reasons why? - Too difficult/repetitive/dont like being ganked?). Feels like ZOS made an area that everyone is now in, can't do your own thing on your own (Solo play gone?).

This would help them more, this would help the community more to help get you ideas. I like group play since I have found a guild that I like. They are active, they do PVP, IC, and other things. I used to be solo, so I still grind on my own. If I get board from grinding I will solo pvp (Sorry, I'm a ganker, its just exhilarating for me). I do feel TV stones are a distraction from the grind, but ultimately everything is going to boild down to grinding xp/ap again for me... which I'm not thrilled about. So if they have more things to incorporate that distracts from the xp/ap grind in a few months, I will be happy.

    Truer words...

While I'm currently not actually jaded with the game, it seems that I have more fun on eso-skills.com than in the game. I love thinking up builds. For classes I dont even play...
I think that's totally a testament to great game design. The open skill system is awesome.
It's the execution of the skill system that sometimes lack, in, uhm... I don't know... Something about me not getting what I expect out of a build maybe. I'll be like "oh, this and this will synergize so well it's perfect!", grind for hours to unlock the skills only to realize that while they may synergize it's nowhere near to the extent I had hoped.

There are some design choices as well that sort of disappoints me. But that totally personal for me. I hate to spam Wrecking Blow, but the devs want that to be the high dps ability. I hate spamming Steel Tornado (more than I hate spamming the other morph for some reason) but it's the end all be all AoE ability. It's little things like that, that makes me stop wanting to get ideas because they all end up in Poison Injection -> Crit Rush -> Wrecking Blow or whatever classless stamina build.

Hmm... Maybe I am a little jaded...

Well firstly, the extra grind for 2 more levels put me off quite a bit. I was really looking forward to this update, I went in to the IC and felt lost, I didn't know what I was doing, there was so much PVP. The fact you could lose all your stones really put me off as well. Also because the grind for the new gear was really off putting, as I thought crafted gear would always be more powerful than dropped gear. And the dropped gear seems much more interesting than the craft gear. In fact I actually came back to the game a few weeks before IC, but now it's the complete opposite.

I'd got bored of cyrodiil, it felt repetitive, also there was no goal for me there, becoming emperor was impossible as I couldn't play 20 hours a day. I feel there is a huge gap between new players and those who play all the time, and this shows through champion points for example

I cannot give suggestions. You've already clearly stated you've done it all and it's just not working for you. So what is it that you want? Your views are valid, I acknowledge you, I wish you well. You were looking to start a thread to vent and have people tell you just how right you were, correct? Not much discussion could come from that. On a side note your title says, "again." Why are you putting yourself through this if you've discovered this wasn't the game for you on multiple occasions?

I guess the better question would be: What would motivate you to start playing again. For me, these three changes would be a good start.

    • Update Trials and DSA to V16 and have them drop V15/16 rewards WITH ALL ORIGINAL JEWELRY (e.g. healer rings, twice fanged serpent rings)
    • Update the Elite Gear Vendor in PvP (outer cyrodiil) with v16 gear WITH ALL ORIGINAL JEWELRY (e.g. Ravager rings, Cyrodiil's light rings)
    • Create a DSA "survival mode" variant. that has only 1 arena with a constant stream of adds and mini-bosses with NO INTERRUPTIONS, NO VOICEOVER, and the same XP rate/kill as normal DSA.
    • Remove Champion points in the non-vet blackwater blade campaign.

All of these are very doable. And would dramatically increase my interest in playing this game.

Pretty much the same here. I have IC because I was subbed but I've never been there and have no intention of going. I don't do pvp, never have never will. I log in every morning to do writs but even that is getting boring.

Been playing FFXIV and having a fun time, really enjoying it.

Anyway I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition of ESO as soon as it became available, been here ever since. Unfortunately the game I bought way back then is not the same game we have now. That one was fun this one isn't, at least to me anyway. I know games change but it's usually for the better. To me ESOTU is going the opposite way.

Deleted the game off of PS4 and cancelled my two subs a couple weeks ago. I'll check the forums and read the patch notes and when I see people say they are having fun again I may return.

Marketers tell themselves that to help them sleep at night. Inside management meetings everyone lives in their bubble with blinders on chanting "Make them grind." They don't realize that whatever they gain in carrot chasers they lose in subscribers and more and more people see a game designed by a marketing major instead of a real game designer. This is how a game slowly loses its soul.
