Champion Point Cap

It is too late now, but what they should have done is to scale the difficulty of earning CP the higher your champion level became. So the first 3 points would cost 100 xp each lets say. The next would cost 300 xp each. The next would cost 900 xp each. The next would cost 2700 xp each. As the game progressed, they could have lowered the costs on each tier of points, but kept it along the same kind of curve. In this way they could have limited CP while still rewarding people who remain on the cutting edge, and without creating a hard wall players would run into. At this point if they implemented a system like this, it would be really unfair no matter what they did (Kind of how it was unfair that you could have 1 vr 14 or 8 vr14's and you still would have started with 70 champion points). The more I see of MMO's the more I see how difficult it is to build a longterm progression system.

also when they "try" balance pvp....they make pve harder...and in consoles as we dont have chat box , getting group is impossible , so i have to solo everything (=fail)

Make the cap 0. Champion System is garbage and never should've been added in the first place.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

I really feel anything below 1000 would shoot themselves in the knees. Most of the players i know and play with are well over 500 cps and with the time to come i really feel they´d take away from their most hardcore (fan- and) playerbase if it was any lower.

They should never have introduced a liniar xp curve and i still believe all they have to do is introduce a logarithmic xp progression to fix the system.

It was always ME being too slow or playing like a noob, not paying enough attention.

Please dont set the cap too low.
Dont penalize people for loving the game and playing it everyday.
THIS, THIS and so much THIS. People complain about dying in PvP, because they think it's CP. But they'll keep dying even if they introduce CP caps. They're just so blind, pointless to unable to realize it's not CP that kills them, but enemy player skills mostly. It's also true you won't convince them even if you provide them numbers. With CP caps they'll switch to accusing people of using macros, since they an argument they could fixate on only to keep complaining. Sigh!

Also, everyone will eventually reach 300-360CP (which are the most important) and by this time (September 2015) they already should be 400CP total with using daily XP Enlightenment pool.

And how can you judge that i wonder? I have seen this argument over and over again "cp are not giving any significant advantage, its the skills that kill you", but then why so much anger about the cap? I know how much advantage my lousy 98 cp give. I tested on pts how it feels to have 1000 cps up to 3600 and im telling you anyone who keeps repeating that cps dont matter either is ignorant or simply has personal interest in mind on that issue.

The cap is to be put in place for console players to catch up to PC transfers...

Even if they introduced CP cap and after 2 years it would be set to (let's say) 1200CP=max - there will always be some who are too far behind and will shout to buff him and nerf the others. The same would happen after each season - people would simply spend CPs they already earned while the majority will shout that this is still unfair, because they didn't have them take their time to earn them. I, personally, don't mind seeing CP caps if this will make everyone happy, but the thing is I know it won't. So all I/we can do is to point the up-/downsides of the idea, which is the so-called "constructive criticism".

It is also worth mentioning that CP caps would favor different sort of builds at several "cap stages". For example, at 300 CP cap PvE Magicka builds would have more core benefits than PvP Stamina builds (which are more CP demanding on average) or at least it would require to spread the points evenly, but that's a topic for another discussion.

edit: I also created a topic that might provide some basic insight on how many CP do our player-base have on average at this point, where ~300CP is my expected highest peak (max CP on transfer + all daily XP Enlightenment pool used).

I would go with 500 if I were in charge. But ZOS is notoriously conservative when it comes to changing stuff like this (like reducing tel var losses only 20%, which didn't change anything really), so I'm expecting more like 1K. Anything above 1K would be a meaningless change.

No.. nothing official. Just player speculating on numbers.

I don' think we need a cap, that would prevent someone's progression and fun. We just need catch up mechanics for low CP players.

Yea, like giving 10 CP every week. Instead of nerfing and caps which will only destroy the game.

How about instead, we put a scroll in the crown store for 100 CP for $20. Then, add a scroll to take a player to VR16 for $50. Then, add another scroll to grant a player 200 SP for $30.

Once the player bought VR16, with 200 SP and 100 CP enters a trial or Cyrodiil, he gets wrecked because they run into a boss or a player who EARNED their 150 SP and is VR1 wrecks them, then what? Find something else and IGNORE the fact that, because you didn't EARN those stripes, and DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE GAME, blame something else.

ZoS keeps looking to make a new player on the same level as a seasoned player, because players demand it.. That IS NOT realistic.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Give everyone 3600 CPs. Problem solved...
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

The cap would only be a temporary fix. What about new players 6 months from now who have no CP? To them, the steep climb is going to be just as daunting as it is now.

Simple. The player stays enlightend till the hit the cap.

Needs to be more than that. Enlightenment will need to provide 3X the CP it currently does.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
