@ZOS_GinaBruno What will the first cap be? Please say 300. Don't screw over the new players!

Lmao after looking at it, why set a cap below what can max out all the abilities/ make individual. Also how does having a higher cap screw over new players? 300 is not a hard number to comeby. I play far less than what most people that are being complained about and I still am gaining on most players.

    I dunno about that cap...

so instead you would rather take from existing players who have over 300 cp? and what happened when they raise the cap to say 600 then the new ppl will have to catch up all over again? this system isn't going to work so well

I have been playing completely honestly, and have many times had a 3-4 days break.. I am close to 500 CP now, and dont think that is too much.

My guess is 360 as first cap... and then maybe expanding it every three months with the planned DLCs.

That's a nice 10% of the total available right now, just enough to keep the newbies in the "oh, yes, that much of an advantage from the powergamers I can deal with, this I can catch up to" category and not in the "I'll never ever have a chance, f... forget this!" one where some find themselves right now...

As for close, I have been playing continously since long before the champion system, and am at 302 c-points right now. Of course, I am a casual player, and also usually spend a lot of time smelling flowers (and picking them for alchemy) and exploring looking for treasure chests and stuff like that instead of grabbing expees...

But I suspect I am likely in the average as far as c-points go. A lot of people have way less, a few people have way more...

I wanna say 300 seeing how PTS CP was at 300 and then 400 or 500 for orsinium and another 100 or 200 each DLC till every ione is up to that 2000 mark.

The cap would only be a temporary fix. What about new players 6 months from now who have no CP? To them, the steep climb is going to be just as daunting as it is now.

Yea, it's sad really. Maybe they can put Champion Points in the Crown Store for those new players. Just a thought.

yea when you never tried to get cps and play like once a week.
new players will have their catch up machanic, the more cps other players have the more time it will take till they are able to progress further on. Feels like they have thought about 1,7 sec about how to "fix" their problem. Will be fun to see how big the part of most active players will be that leaves the game because of that. Cap under 1k would affect and "steal" cp from a lot of players that i know (in every fraction) and even this would be a punch to the face for many others. Just a really bad "solution" they talked about.

Also, why would new players be able to be "even" like people who played since release and played a lot to get a nice amount of cp ? Zenimax just encouraged players to do so by bringing exp-pots into the game and into crown store. Suddenly they think about this type of cap ? Really a bad joke.

I good solution for that is when giving new cap, also give new base. But that base has to be way lower than the last cap.
    Example:
    Season 1: Cap 300 - base CP 0
    Season 2: Cap 450 - base CP 150
    Season 3: Cap 600 - base CP 300

That way people who work for CP will have a good advantage over those who doesn't. But it won't be huge and new players won't be discouraged to start ESO.

And even if you get to the cap you can still get more CP, just not use them. So when the new season comes, you will start with 300 more CP than the rest of the players. 95% of the server is happy.

Baradur Morker - Level 50 Bosmer Nightblade
    Le-Duck - Level 50 Dark Elf Dragonknight
    Boom-Stormer - Level 50 High Elf Sorcerer
Nemeliom the Great - Level 50 Redguard Warden
Crazy Little Maggie - Level 50 High Elf Templar

Again I offer the odd ball idea. I think they should do away with rest of the leveling system and go strictly to the CP and let you start earning from level 1. Still have the advancement shared and any playing you do on any character applies to the level at which any character can play.

Edit: forgot to add - Solo scales to the character, group scales to the leader. No content is out leveled and wasted and you could skip side quests then do them later and always have a challenge. CP Leveling would only come into play in PvP and team play (group instant dungeons and trials). The more effort you put in (regardless of play style) the stronger you are.

Seeing as 99.9% of the entire playing community has less that 1000 CP's I think it is a safe bet the cap will be 1k.

I´m currently at 560 CP from just playing the game and having a good time.
Gimping the people that play everyday just cause of forum QQ / L2P issues would hurt the playerbase.

I`ve never died in PVP from having too little CP.
I die cause I fail and get rekt by someone playing (or exploiting :D ) better than me.

I`ve never failed in PVE cause I had too little CP.
It was always ME being too slow or playing like a noob, not paying enough attention.

Please dont set the cap too low.
Dont penalize people for loving the game and playing it everyday.

They wanted the Champion System to be the horizontal progression once you hit the level cap. But by placing a cap within this system, they are going to reduce the appeal and value of this system.

This is coming from a player that only has 75 Champion points and is currently VR11 with 2 more zones to go until done with Cadwell's Gold. They pay too much attention to the cries of the PvP players that demand changes and ultimately ruin it for everyone else. While in some cases these cries will be valid, placing caps within this system is not a good solution for this.

Ok my thoughts on the Cap

    1) It is a perfectly brilliant short term solution to a long term problem. If the Cap is 300 but then increases by 100 every month then it still wont be long before there is the same huge gap for new people. If the Cap is 1000 and then goes up it will probably have very little impact.

    2) Its not just CP points its gear as well and alliance ranks. In PvP new people don't like feeling like cannon fodder but that's what we are. When it takes 10 of us to kill one other guy you really don't feel like your having an impact.

    3) Don't just think new think casual players as well. People always talk about a new person who can then catch up if he can play 7 hours a day. What about Casual players that have been around since day one but play 7 hours a week?

    4) Its not just Champion points, its gear and alliance ranks. Do think right CP cap, great job done. You will still get people soloing 16 Man Vet 16 raids.

    5) I think people would like a Champion point cap in trails and PvP anything that has a leader board. Most people will probably want the CAP around what they have or could have soon so I suggest 300 :)

    6) Lastly remember no matter how insane, pointless or time consuming something is some of the player base will do it. Don't think it will be a year before anyone gets 1000 CP think it will be a month. Don't think VET 16 gear will take till Christmas for people to get it some players will have it in a week.

    Eh.

    I will counter with...

"If the cap is not put in place there will not be anyone buying/joining this game 8 months from now. There are no new players that are going to want to join this game only to be trolled by people with 1k+CP."

MMO's survive only if the number of new players are = to or + than the number of players leaving.. If ZOS did not do this they would be shutting down the severs in 2 years tops.

So when you leave.... Can I have your stuff/Gold to give to the new players that will actually join this game next year?

    Kthnx.

This right here... I don't get why ZOS would want to cap the system and disincentivize play. Once CP Cap is reached.... what do they do? Keep earning so that when the cap is raised they are automatically at that cap right away?
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I think the same. Set the cap between 500 and 1000 CP and install a mechanism which lets people who actually play the game catch up to cap until next dlc comes out.

Yea, like giving 10 CP every week. Instead of nerfing and caps which will only destroy the game.
