Hi,
I am thinking of returning to ESO. How are things? How is the imperial city update? Hows the crown store? How is the population? Are Veteran Ranks still in the game?
Ive been reading up on some of the changes but figured Id solicit some points of view too.

✭5 seconds on the forums would tell you it's a bad time to come back. After the latest update (Imperial City) there have been tons of game breaking bugs and lame brained nerfs. Best wait a while longer and ask again.12 -

✭✭Veteran ranks are still in game. The cap is raised to VR16.
Imperial city is fun. New armor, weapons & other items can be obtained by collecting tv stones & trophy items . Ic is also the best way to level up to VR16 in my opinion. Two new public dungeons within IC.
The population in non vet zones always appears high. Still relatively quiet in veteran zones. The crown store is whatever anyone wants to make of it.
Game difficulty was increased with the last major patch.

HebrewHatchet✭✭✭I can only tell you the landscape on PS4.
Unfortunately, the game is a bit messed up right now. The main problems are:
- No beams are showing up (making some fight mechanics harder or impossible)
- Banks (maybe just guild banks) lock you out
- Guild stores don't show prices
- Long loading screens for veteran level characters
This means that doing heavy trading is pretty frustrating right now and endgame dungeons are also very frustrating. I expect that the endgame will be as fun as it used to be when the fixes come out in a few weeks, but until then, the games only really works well for leveling alts as you won't be selling many things, the content and fight mechanics are more forgiving, and the load screen times are reasonable.[PS4 NA]

Totally disagree........
PVE player who's loving the DLC........
So real people kill me a lot but I'm having fun dying!!
Also the real players are not on the forums, they are in the game, I'm only here atm because I like a laugh before bed.
As for bugs and nerfs, it's an MMO, comes with the territory.
I've never left but I think it's on balance better than it was..........
Except......... @ZOS fix those damn Loading screens!!

Based on this quote...I really enjoy ESO and I can list everything I love about it, which far outweighs, in quantity, the number of things I dislike. It is a solid ES game in an MMO space.
But, after you level one character through all of the content, and do it again on another, and another...thats it. Unless you want to subject yourself to the toxicity of 5 man dungeon runs or horribly designed raids(seemingly...I haven't experienced them but any video, twitch stream, or forum post I read is the same...AOE AOE AOE).
I would love difficult solo dungeons, difficult solo content, or two person content. What if we can acquire followers, like in other ES games, that can come on difficult solo-instanced(or open world) end game content.
As a solo player, who enjoys open world PVP, theres no endgame for me here other than leveling. And ES has done a wonderful job at providing fantastic replay value with the leveling...but I want something different too.
... I would say that the time is not right for you, yet. You may be more interested in Orsinium, which is tentatively scheduled for before the end of this year.

If you took the forums at face value, you'd think people lost ten bucks every time they logged in and their characters have be changed into rat-faced turtle monsters who die because NBs murdered them from within an immortality bubble.
That said, yeah, come play. Just go watch some videos of baby animals to wash away the anger taint first.4 -

Nah, we just lose 10FPS everytime we see another player in a PvP zone and all of our characters and their gear have been nerfed and reduced to the point where they are a lot less fun to play. NBs are ok though.

I would say come back to get use to the changes, if you played before then you'll notice a huge difference. I'm going to say these changes will be here for a long time (the overall ideas like extended battles)0 -

Agree with the above. Content is great in and out of Cyrodiil. PvP is more balanced and engaging than ever. Time to kill is up and one shot kills down. Much more strategery needed!
A few minor bugs and annoyances but for the most part solid and nothing gamebreaking. Game is in good shape on PC.1 -

The games is going ok. IC is great thanks to the reduced damage but you need to watch out for the zergs and crown store is still expensive. The population in Cyrodiil is high in almost every server thanks to the PvEers running to IC to farm and vet rank got an increase in lvl its now vet 15 and vet 16 (vet 16 gear cost WAY TO MUCH 140 ingots for just a chest piece and each ingot cost about 600 gold). They also nerfed a good number of the grinding spots so I need to find another way to lv other than spend hours on quest I have done 10 times ( no joke I have so many toons I had to get a second account ). Over all I'm waiting for the next DLC and trying to lvl my EP Templar in the mean time in Cyrodiil.Legions of Mordor Guild Officer

✭I'm going on 4 days without playing, mainly because long load screens and randomly falling through the world in the middle of playing aren't my cup of joe. 3 weeks after the IC patch release and we still don't have a 100% fix for those bugs (or all the other fun bugs that have been around since forever).
But yes, only way to know whether you should come back now or not is to jump in the game and try it for yourself. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. But as someone who has played almost every day since launch, the well has run dry and I'm waiting for something new and exciting that piques my interest to come out, like Orsinium, or the DB/TG.0 -

For 15+ days? If I lacked the motivation to login for that length of time I'd be spending my time on another game and discussing it with others that enjoy it myself.
