This game is only a year old! I don't know. I am fairly new to the MMO world but there are good things to come for this game in the future and it will just keep getting better and better. If you are tired of it then take a break and play something else for a while. When you feel like coming back to it then come back to it. I've taken a couple breaks from it over the past year and then I start playing WoW for a while and get tired of that and have some more fun with ESO.

I imagine things will start picking up again shortly after console launch since that is what they have been busy with. Can't wait for Orsinium and Clockwork City to come out. Those look like tons of fun.

I've wanted to experience each class. I have a Templar at VR14 (yet still haven't completed the Gold quest line), a VR10 DK (juuuust started him on the Gold quest line), a VR4 Sorcerer (halfway into the Silver), and a baby Night Blade at lvl 12.

There's a few ways to mix it up.
Roll an alt (that's a different class) to experience the game from a different point of view.
Roll an alt that's a different class AND faction (you have 3 to choose from).
Roll an alt and ONLY PvP (if you've only traditionally played PvE) or visa versa.

That's quite a lot to do, really.

I felt like you, only it was World of Warcraft. I realised I was paying $15 a month to stand in a garrison (a BIG, phased player housing sorta idea). Thanks to LFR (Looking For Raid), my raid team fell apart (WHY adhere to a scheduled day and time when you can get ALMOST as good gear and play whenever you feel like it?). I grew to hate WoW and unsubbed. I had been playing for 8 years.

However, ESO is new and I've been waiting on it for at least 5 years. I want to experience every aspect of it. There's a boatload of achievements to go for, plus a relatively new mechanic - the Justice system - which seems to cap at lvl 50.

Just imagine how many Champion Points you'd have if you could find a hook that would interest you in leveling an alt!

In an MMO, you WILL run out of content. In any game. Period. It's all about your outlook on the game and what you want out of it.
My tank isn't as much fun to level as my Templar. He doesn't do nearly the damage that my Templar does, plus other that his Staff, he has no self heals. My Templar can solo dolmens and solo public dungeons, getting all the shards he sees on the map. My tank soaks the damage up but can't output enough damage to kill mobs fast enough. So I switch it up. I knock out the daily undaunted dungeon quests on my DK Tank, then I switch to my baby Night Blade. If someone in a Guild needs a Tank or Healer, I'll switch toons and help them out.

I introduce enough variety so I don't get burned out.

If you are beginning to feel burned out, just take a break.

PS: I don't focus on leveling. I focus on completing each zone, doing all dolmens, all the public dungeons, all the generals, exploring all of the POIs, uncovering the entire map, getting the achieve for 'x' amount of quests, then I comb the zone, looking for little side quests I might have missed. Then I move on.

VR14 sorc who has finished all of AD and EP. She has all crafts but Alchemy at 50. I harvested every node I found on her, as well as the NB below.
VR6 NB who has finished all of AD, just about finished with Stonefalls. She has alchemy at 50.
VR14 DK who has done...err. I dunno actually O.o But she's there. God knows what this one has. I think the big three crafts (blacksmith, clothing, woodowrk) at in the 30s.
    I also have a lv30ish templar somewhere.

Currently I have recently VR2 templar who just got into coldharbour. Crafts are 30+, except provisioning which is zero, enchanting which is nearing 20, and alchemy which is...2 or somesuch.

I leveled the templar to VR1 in about two weeks of casual play, and only picked him back up against because I could finally stand to log in.

PvP - I'm leveling the VR2 templar for this. I've played casually on my sorc, DK and to a lesser extent NB.

Trials - Did AA a couple times, had a go at Hel Ra but never finished due to time constraints.

Essentially - I did almost everything. Hell I bet a good chunk of my time in ESO was from RPing. 8 characters and I rp them all .I think I had my sorc and NB done in December O.o So yeah. The game really lacks content, not much you can say against that.

Mind you, I'm a full time student :P I also consider myself a casual.

You have no clue what casual play is. It took me MONTHS to get my first vet toon. Work 8 hours a day, commute 3 hours a day, family, real life responsibilities.

Nothing against you poster, but I feel this 'younger generation' is an instant-gratification-gimme-the-end-result-NOW kind of mentality.

ZoS promised consoles a year ago. Due to a LOT of reasons (part of which was a subscription model, which conflicted with Microsoft Live), they had to backtrack, change the entire game to a non-sub model, THEN release the console version. I'm glad they honored their commitment to the console people.

But from this moment onwards, when new content is released, it's for all platforms. ALL. Get it?

I was bummed too when they didn't release console back then. I had it all preordered and was planning on playing exclusively on that. But when that didn't happen I just had fun with the PC version anyway on my Mac despite all the bugs they had to fix and what not. Whatever. Happens. Still fun as hell to play and so many different ways to play it. Shame to hear people get bored with it. I've had it since launch and still don't have a V14. Haha I am so slow at this game. But just enjoy it. Guess I'm a slow chewer ;)

I haven't logged in since Witcher 3 came out. When they release some content I will be back. PvP is just terrible right now, and there isn't much for me to do in PvE besides pledges or questing.

I wish they actually went on their promises...subscriber quality content every 6 weeks. Otherwise this game wouldn't have gone B2P...

And if the game was actually well made, the levelling was better than it is now, the world more open world, then it would have been worth a subscription. Obviously ZoS thought their game was worth a subscription to everyone which is why they promised "sub quality content every 6 weeks". But their game turned out average and then it went B2P.

I hate it when people say "the industry is changing". No. The games are changing. They aren't worth the sub any more.

Maybe. Maybe not. Console is just now releasing. I don't suspect they will release any new content for another couple months at least. I have already burned out so the damage is done. It's also due to the fact that all my friends have quit so any new content coming doesn't have the same appeal at this point. Sometimes swimming back is the best option if what's waiting on the other side is no good.

Hahaha agree! After 1 year my highest toon is lvl 8. RL and stuff came in between. Like full time work, dogs, kids and my BF. ^^ I will prolly play more now since i dont need to have a sub but slowly exploring each zone thoroughly. No power levling. I want to enjoy it, but I've been V14 since like a week after we were able to get to V14...

    And herein lies the problem.

Well, what should happen when you hit VR14 is that the game should really open up and you should have plenty of things to choose to focus on.

The problem is that at VR14, there is such a content bottleneck that people say "why even bother logging in?"

The problem is the lack of Fun repeatable content
    This sums it up nicely @jamesharv2005ub17_ESO , @Heromofo .

ZoS needs to understand there is a huge difference between repeatable and repetitious.
When the only thing that really changes is the type of enemy that spawns (location is the same, AI actions are the same, loot may as well be the same) it all turns into a grind.

RNG's have existed since the first stick was tossed in the air, you would think they could implement some of that a little more in the current repeatables.

Just because you walk through the same door doesn't mean what is on the other side has to be predictable.

Spawning world events (more than dolmens, mini dolmens, and battling mages), would add more of a dynamic feel to the world. There would be reason to roam and explore again. Alternate sets of actions for NPC's would be huge. Even adjusting the timing slightly (some reacting a bit slower, some a bit faster), or just loosening the zone limit on the mobs every now and then...

I still think they could develop an instanced dungeon by piecing together 'tiles' of dungeon parts (not like they don't reuse design now), populate it with an assortment of creatures, and let a group have at it. It would literally never be the same twice.

Want to take this a huge step further? Make an editor. Obtain the 'tiles' through quest rewards and be able to make/unlock limited user created content. This way the Devs could limit the extent of creation (drops/loot, etc) but allow one another to run each others' creations. (You could do it like trading cards...swap dungeon runs.)

Users have to want to remain engaged. Right now, it's little more than a script. It just happens to have a person at the other end instead of a computer.

@Sandmanninja , there is a significant difference in quantity vs quality.

A few problems with your suggestions, IMO:
    • I've yet to complete Gold on any character. I've opened it up, but once overleveled and after questing to V12 or more, there is minimal benefit as a result of finishing off the quests. (Disregarding skillpoints and storyline)
    • Different class has potential, different faction is semi-pointless if you've gone through Gold on another - only the enemy levels have changed. They missed the mark on this one. Had there been differing outcomes, even with many of the same side quests, there would be 3x the content and incentive to play all three factions. Presently, it's simply a higher level repeat of the other.
    • Regarding the last, if you've gotten a fairly high level Vet, you likely fall into one of three categories:
      1. You hate PvP. Never did it, not gonna do it. (Wouldn't be prudent.) So, getting a taste for it now is unlikely, let alone doing it exclusively.
      2. You love PvP. Aside from the alternate class idea, you've already experienced it on your main(s) and trudged through the ranks. It's not going to suddenly be different with a different character.
      3. You've done a little of each. This one's likely the worst, because you've mixed and matched the first time to keep from getting burnt out - going PvP exclusive (or quest exclusive) is not going to somehow inspire.
There is and has been nothing extrodinarily new in almost a year's time. Any twist you want to put on it will not change existing content to provide another year's worth of playability.

The part ZoS is and has been missing for some time is that there are people that want to play this game. All they are looking for is a reason to do so.

Writs, trials, and pledges that backfire to reduce the desire to do non-pledge dungeons do not provide that.

It's like saying you could try playing the game by changing all your keybinds...sure it's technically different, but does it really change the game?

I really enjoy ESO and I can list everything I love about it, which far outweighs, in quantity, the number of things I dislike. It is a solid ES game in an MMO space.

But, after you level one character through all of the content, and do it again on another, and another...thats it. Unless you want to subject yourself to the toxicity of 5 man dungeon runs or horribly designed raids(seemingly...I haven't experienced them but any video, twitch stream, or forum post I read is the same...AOE AOE AOE).

I would love difficult solo dungeons, difficult solo content, or two person content. What if we can acquire followers, like in other ES games, that can come on difficult solo-instanced(or open world) end game content.

As a solo player, who enjoys open world PVP, theres no endgame for me here other than leveling. And ES has done a wonderful job at providing fantastic replay value with the leveling...but I want something different too.

Play Rift or WoW for some time. This will give you will to live :)

These games are substantially more pathetic in their predictability and un-originality. Blizzard continues to do all the wrong things, with the exception of the way you level in WoD. Garrisons, much like the Stormwind/Org hangout problems in Cata, are the worst things to happen to WoW, and sadly seem to the corner stone of the expansion but will not see the light of day in future expansions, as per blizz.

Level one, two, three or four characters easily to max in a few weeks. Log one or two weeks of dungeons and LFR, and youre ready for the max Normal and/or Heroic raid. Continue to log in to play hearthstone in your garrison, realize you dont need LFR anymore, you dont need dungeons anymore, and log off until your next raid. It is like this every expansion, yet people seem to think that some how itll be different this time.

I want to love the game. Love all the skills and the build possibilities and the AvAvA, but then I realize that a lot of skills are broken and/or unbalanced after they did a major overhaul and just let it sit for 3 months so far. Throw traits, racial passives, mundus stones and pretty much every character customization option in there as well and you start really messing with that build diversity I like to play around with so much. If thats not enough to ruin the AvAvA for you along with the insane instant burst along with high powered siege makes sieging the enemy more popular than actually fighting. And why not; as if you try to fight a big battle, it winds up lagging anyway and death recaps are just filled with AOEs to where you wonder if the enemy even saw you to kill you, or if you kill them, "What did I actually do to make that kill feel rewarding?"

There it goes again. Was starting to want to get back into it and just talked myself out of it again. this is where I have been stuck for over a month.

No game on the planet will keep you entertained perpetually. Going by your history of being VR14 within a week of being able to do it, you will probably just blow through new content and sit there again asking, "Now what?" It's not that you are playing the game incorrectly, it's that you are asking too much of the content.

Give it a rest, and then come back. If the game's no longer available, my guess is that TES VI will be.

As others have said, every MMO is this way. The best thing to do is ROLL AN ALT.!
And be faced with the horrible VR grind again, but this time (unlike the time he leveled his first VR14) there are no easy XP exploits to grind (the Craglorn Crystals et. al.) and no one is doing any questing/dungeons in Craglorn any more.

In the game as it stands, after hitting VR10/VR11 in Cadwell's Gold progression basically stops.
