I'll generally stick around and provide healing and/or buffs as needed, and then move on once they have finished. I NEVER steal a chest or node that someone else is already heading towards. That's just uncalled for. It would be awesome if you could interact with someone's profile and leave some sort of feedback that impacts their reputation in game. Something along the lines of Fable where your actions have consequences... I have a feeling that a lot of players would have horns.

For example, I was in the Lion's Den today and I had already killed this particular boss, and a player who was using these *** tactics on me was obviously struggling to kill this boss, but i still helped him. It would have been easy just to run past him like he did with me. But me being a grade A sucker, I helped him out before going our separate ways again.
Nah, I hear you. I am a very solo-oriented player and I have a sort of "code of honor."
I always help unless there is a quest around that requires NOT killing a specific mob (it's frustrating trying to charm a mob when someone keeps killing it lol.)
Delves are ez mode so I don't really give any thought to them except to make sure I don't kill the boss when a group or player is close but currently involved. I like to give them a chance to not have to wait for a re-spawn.
Pub Dungeons are my jam. So fun to solo. Here I pay very close attention to strangers and always ALWAYS help. It's fun and a great way to develop some emergent gameplay situations. I usually end up teaming up with strangers since it's almost always beneficial.

This times 100.
I honestly dont know what's going on in someone's head, when he or she starts spamming ultimate and execute on a boss with a spawn timer, when they know another player is a few seconds behind. It's so incredibly inconsiderate, especially if it's a slower or rare spawn for challenge+ achievement.
I always make sure other players gets a chance to tag bosses(even mobs) for XP, loot and completion. That's my idea of delve and Public Dungeon etiquette. Same with Dolmens and World Bosses. I mean, you're just lucky getting there a few seconds earlier when the boss is up, don't be a d-bag about it and force everyone else to "wait their turn" for god knows how long.
I never really know what to do, I mean, I want to be helpful but maybe someone wants the satisfaction of doing it all on their own, who knows. So I help. I know I appreciate it when others are helping me. I don't really like to group up as I don't have a means to communicate with anyone except through emotes, but it's fun to run a delve with someone else.

I have always helped out, but something I've noticed is a lot of people will run past. That doesn't really bother me because I wouldn't have entered the dungeon in the first place if I wasn't expecting to solo it in the first place. However, what really grinds my gears are the people who wait just shy of aggro'n the next group (you see them turning around to see where you are, so you know they're watching you) wait for you to draw the aggro and then run past leaving you to deal with them alone, again.
Then today, I was attempting to sneak past a polar bear inside one of these delves, to reach a locked chest, and this guy was following me and just as i got midway through the unlocking, the bear spotted me and i had to disengage from the chest. The other guy knowing I couldn't do anything until I killed the bear, ninja'd the chest. I'd be embarrassed doing that. I've always just assumed it's nice to help out if it's obvious there's no grinding going on. If I'm running next to someone else, but not grouped with them, I tend to leave chests to whoever spotted them first. Or just take it in turns opening them as we come across them.
Am I doing this all wrong? Am I expected to use selfishness to my advantage? Just asking because maybe I'm genuinely the one in the wrong here with this being my first MMO. Maybe being a noob I'm being naive here.
