What happened to my selected skills

I'm new to ESO, but I just got to level 6 and had the option to select Fiery Grip IV. I opted to keep Fiery Grip I which I selected previously. After leveling, I don't seem to have access to any of the skills I spent points on before. Is this a bug? I'm playing on Xbox One.

jdminton✭Thanks. That really jacks things up for me. They should put a note on the game when you log in (or maybe I didn't see it). I thought I had accumulated skill points that I hadn't assigned. It will be harder for me to level now. How often do they do this?0

✭✭There is a heads-up stickied to the General Forum since August 31st, warning about the skill point reset with patch 2.1. There is an in-game notification [N] which informs you after login.
As for how often this occurs: every time that game systems or parts thereof undergo significant changes. Usually this goes along with major version number updates (e.g. 2.0.x -> 2.1.y).0 -
dreamfarer✭✭✭For what it's worth, this is fairly typical in all MMOs when changes are made. If skills/powers/player options of any type are altered significantly, it's a smart move to give players a respec so that they can adjust their builds accordingly.
If you misspent some points, you're not out of luck either. Early on what you spend your points in is fairly non-critical and when you reach the main town in the 2nd zone for your faction there are shrines where you can buy either partial (morphs only) or full respecs for gold.
I have no special gold making skills at all and I've respecced a dozen or more times as I've leveled so the price is noticable but not unaffordable.0 -

The skill points were refunded and added back to your pool. You can spend them again and none of your progress was lost.Thanks. That really jacks things up for me. Once spent in a skill you had previously, your XP gained in that skill will still be there.
Nothing was lost ...

It's quite cheap to respec your skills, it's about 50 gold per skill you have, go the the main chapel in the second zone i think.PS4 EU DC
