Glass armor motif drop chance

Hello guys,

yesterday I was opening some writs and to my amazement of the 80 writs I had only 1 writ that had a glass armor scrap, of which I need 10 for one page.

Then I figured, how is that possible? First I found out that alchemy & enchanting writs did not award glass armor scraps, in my opinion they should as the drop chance is very very low. On top of that of the 20 writs I did open I still got only 1 writ, this would mean I would need months to gain glass armor motif.. unless ofcourse I buy it in the crown store for 5k (but hell, I am a subscriber I should not be forced to buy it because the drop chance is so pathetic!).

For that reason I suggest to make some changes to the glass armor motif drop chance, this is to make it more fair while not making it very easy to acquire as I like something that takes longer to acquire (unless it's clearly set up be extremely difficult so it will be sold more often in the crown store).

1.Glass armor motif scraps drop from all writ boxes at a chance of 25% per box on max level.
2.Add repeatable daily quests that let you hand in materials (high quantity to make it something you won't do too often) for one glass armor page scrap.
3.Add a very small chance for glass armor motif scraps to drop from material deposits.
4.Add a very small chance for bosses of group dungeons to drop merethic restorative resin. Would be a nice way to make dungeon loot more interesting.

With these 4 changes I think that glass armor will be less punishing to acquire, but still difficult. It will also make it less obvious that glass armor is a grind with the goal of making us pay 5k crowns in the crown store.

My 2 cents on the subject.

They are aware of the drop rate.

It is intentional - keeping people busy with minimal new actual content.

You will either be kept busy for months, or you will lose patience and buy from the crown store or from other busy people.

This is precisely what ZoS wants to achieve.

They have to keep the drop rate low otherwise there would be no point to sell it in the Crown Store.

Well outside of all the crown store comments. I would like a lively discussion on which changes should be made to glass armor, as i think the current version just can't go to live.

I've written multiple posts on this issue and yet ZOS has remained mum on all the threads so far. I think they believe that the current RNG fest is "fun", but like many others I believe it's just to frustrate the player to the point that they'll just buy the Glass motif directly from the Crown store. The situations is quite dreadful. This game has historically had one of the least grindy, most player-friendly advancements systems I've seen, but some recent developments are reversing how I feel about it. A few systems, like the Champion System, make sense to be grindy because it's aimed at long-term progression, but a new motif? Nah, the Dwemer one was already something of a pain, and that at least wasn't capped to three-a-day chances.

And here's another thing: why on earth do they want us to shell out 50 bucks (or however much the glass motif will be) to learn it on only a single character?? With prices like that, I'd think it should work across all characters on your account, like they do with these charming mounts we get. Heck, it's even less useful than the mounts in many situations, since for a lot of builds your gear is at best going to be half crafted, half whatever-fiat-style the new set pieces drop in, so it ends up being half useful.

Maybe you're supposed to make up your losses by selling crafted gear, but what kind of darling scrubmuffin has the coin to shell out to cover the cost of both the exorbitant material requirements of V16 gear AND the hefty levy imposed by what will probably be only a handful of hard-to-find crafters? Heaven forbid you spread the three big crafting professions out among several characters. It'd take another year just to get the traits researched on whoever you decided was going to be your "actual main crafter", and even then you'll be struggling to get them the skillpoints to have all that crafting going on AND still have more than one relevant weapon skill line.

    Grumble!

Personally I hate it when game developers go against how they initially setup things. When the game first came out, you learned everything from that one Motif you read. Then they added Dwemer and those stupid pages. I don't think I've ever seen a full book on it. Any Style books added should be like the original ones IMO, one book and your done. Or go with pages like Dwemer, to have to gather resources and add that to a potion to make the page is just a joke.

I really believe that they did this so people would just give up on trying to get the pages made and just buy it from the Crown Store.

It seems that with every update they include Motifs, there will be some jacked up way that we will have to obtain them.

Why not make things interesting and build a quest line around them. Once you've completed that quest line, you can then be trained by x person to make those items.

That's at least a lot more fulfilling than open x chests till you find the items you need, then buy x potion to make.

I think the problem with simple motifs drops is the following : 1.It's either too easy too get and way too common to drop. 2.It's made to be rare so the drop chance is extremely low and that's not fun either.

They want some stuff in the game to take longer and that's cool, but in an ideal situation something should never take longer then 3 months to acquire. (generally that's the release date of new content) Dwemer pages could be acquired in that period, glass armor cannot. For that reason alone I think glass armor should be tweaked (like I suggested for instance) as that will make it possible to be completed in under 3 months.

I would not use the term 'devs' to describe who wanted this system in place.

This is an executive decision put in place to grab cash from players that either don't have the time or patience to slug it out.

Please don't put designers, programmers, customer support, moderators, etc. in the same boat as the suit wearers, they don't deserve it.

As for the OPs suggestion, 25% chance 3 times a day seems a bit excessive, perhaps a 10-15% chance on the clothing, blacksmithing, and woodcrafting writs. The boss drop for resto resin would be nice too.

So far I've gotten one fragment out of fifteen equipment writs done. Considering you need 10 fragments plus a 10k resin to get one measely piece of the motif, I'm calling it. Screw glass style. Daedric is good enough for the demonfolk, it's good enough for me.

I'm thinking of creating an Argonian alt just to name it Grinds-No-More.

I am getting maybe one frag per day on average, when doing writs with six veteran crafters. Some days i get two and some days none.
