I hope you don't think this shows you in a good light , you stole 696k from someone . If I was that person I would have followed you to the ends of oblivion for that kind of money then reported you for the thief you are . Perhaps the person made a genuine mistake in trying to input a figure in the add gold , this is easy done . For you to take advantage of that then run away with his money says a lot more about your character than his . Shame on you .

Don't be daft, scams like this go on all the time - someone briefly drops some money in the box then retracts it while you are adding goods to trade for the now non-existent money that was shown.
Most people who randomly open trade with you uninvited are looking to scam you out of something.

Yeah and two wrongs make a right WRONG what he did was no better than the SCAM you described . Not every random trader is trying to scam you . I try a lot of random trading because having only 30 spaces in a guild store is pathetically low and there is no other way , other than selling to npc dealers for the pathetic pittance they offer you of disposing of goods . So don't try and defend this by saying most people are trying to scam in open trading so it's ok to scam them first . And in answer to your first question - no , I am not daft.

Join more trade guilds then, 5 guild slots, 30 trade slots each, should be plenty.
Try to randomly trade with me, and I'll assume you are either scamming or deliberately trying to interrupt what I am doing.

As for the 696k gold, I am of the thinking it was a genuine mistake.

It's not about being cynical, it's about being annoyed with people keep pinging me whilst I am trying to do something, usually they don't even bother trying to talk to me - just 'ping' and the notification pops up, then 'ping' again a few seconds later. I get that these days with cellphones we are expected to answer everyone who tries to contact us even if they are just marketing firms, but... no... if you can't be bothered to talk to me and just ping me with trade notifications when I am trying to do something, just bug off.

I get that it becomes tiresome while you are busy banking/crafting or whatever , same with the random guild invites but there can be no excuse for running off with almost 700k of someone's money just because they ruffled your feathers and disturbed you for a moment . Don't you think ?

Well for a start it wasn't me who was involved in this, I think you are getting me confused with someone else in the thread. So enough of using the term 'you' directed at me as if I was involved. But what was described is used as a scam by people. Drop money in the trade box and take it out while they are looking through their inventory for goods to put up for the money then taking the goods without payment is a well known scam. It may have been a mistake in this instance, but it was a very unfortunate one given that people do this deliberately to try to get free stuff from people.

I remember starting out with nothing...not having the first clue of what to do in this game once freed from Cold Harbour, no gold and crap weapons and armor I picked up during the tutorial.
Running into someone like me who would hand me helpful items without expectation of recompense would have been a great confidence booster in the perception of player integrity...but no such good fortune for me. I started doing it on my own as my wealth and supply of goods exceeded my wants and needs, and it has for me been a rewarding experience.
So, in spite of all the bad that does occur when people prey on each other in this game, I will continue to be generous and not apologize for it.
Good to see there are still some compassionate people around . Just make sure you don't make a mistake in your input or some thieving git (see one of the above posts) will run away with it and think that it's acceptable .Grand_Wazoo wrote: »I enjoy going to starter areas and giving away motifs or food/recipes.....occasionally gold. Someone tried to trade my mate one singular carrot yesterday. I wonder was he warning us about the IC gear grind update coming to consoles through vegetable symbolism.

Every experience that I have recounted on this thread has been on PC - where people ARE able to use text chat to talk to the person they are standing next to, but instead decide to repeatedly ping them with trade notifications every few seconds over and over and over again - maybe that may make it a bit clearer as to why I consider it griefing.

Ah , consoles don't have that so unless they are on area chat we are basically screwed . Short of searching for the person with the psn and trying to pm him , not much can be done . That's probably why these scams are so easily done because the easiest way to let someone know how much you want for an item is to put a price in the add gold box so they can see it then retract the figure . Txt chat is definitely missing but there are plenty of threads on that issue already. I still stand by my opinion of the person who stole 696k then ran away.
